- Halloween.Royal Road★★★★★ 5.0This story is a complete banger from the start, it has some typos here and there, plus a minor plot hole or two.
But excluding those minor errors, the story is an extremely fun ride! MC Is an overall fun character to watch, while the rest of the cast also compliments with the overall comedy and fun.
The story itself got me highly intrigued, from the start we see how absolutely bizarre is the other world the MC pops in, with the objective of finding his owner, he will do anything for it.
Even joining an army :kekw:
Look, first review that I do and I don't know what to say mostly! Other than GO THERE AND BINGE READ THIS WHOLE THING! - TriangleKayes08Royal Road★★ 2.0As near as I can make it, this is technically well written. Reading through, the grammar is near perfect. The author's style is a bit on the bombastic side, very much tell to show (which isn't a bad thing), but the dialogue is rather stilted that way. I'm of the opinion that this sort of narrative style lends itself better when the characters' internal thoughts are monologued a bit to give them more character. The style clashes with the characters if you try to explore them, because it overwhelms the first impression of the characters, leaving them flat (relatively).
I haven't gotten very far into this story, and that's normally not a fair point to judge, but from the very beginning, everything is entirely contrived.
Summary of the first few chapters:
We get introduced to a individual affiliated with the military, and the next thing that happens is the AI gets immediately assigned to being a personal bodyguard. No additional third party testing. Anyone familiar with the real world knows that the government is a bloated monolith of inefficiency, and this is especially so for the military. Fine. Whatever. This is just to set up the MC's driving goal. (It would make more sense to just make the goal for the AI to be a bodyguard/butler in the first place, funded as the top secret luxury research of some rich paranoid megalomaniac a la Batman. Hell, it could lean into getting quirkiness if its maker was some rich paranoid inventor making a bodyguard for grandkids (individual efforts generating skewed results and all that).
In making first contact with humans, it neglects to redevelop the ability to speak. Somehow. It was shown to be able speak without humanoid form in its introduction. And it's an AI that is planning to communicate with humans. Fine, it can't speak because the author doesn't want it to for some quirk or guideline. Then it can present text. It's a shape shifter; it can produce a slab of biomaterial and, write or morph letters or something. It can force its
