Description
"You need to know something," said Fili, taking Sara's face in his large warm hands. "You will always have me. Even if the Valar take you away tomorrow, I will always be your brother. I want you here with me. I'm going to fight Thorin for the right to make you my Heart Sister. But even if I lose, you are always my sister. I would sooner stop being a dwarf than stop being your brother."
Can exploring caves land you in a hobbit's pantry? It happened to Sara Miller. Taken from the 21st century, she must navigate through Middle-Earth to find a way back home. But to do so she will have to understand why the Valar have sent her in the first place, something even Gandalf does not know. All Sara wants to do is return home so she can resume the search for her family, but now she is stuck going on an insane quest.
Of all the wizards in Middle-Earth, Thorin has to deal with a capricious one, namely Gandalf. Determined to reclaim his home in Erebor for his people, Thorin was prepared to accept a hobbit in his company at Gandalf's request. But now the wizard insists that if Thorin wants his help he must allow a woman from another world to join the quest as well. But just because the wizard brings her along doesn't mean Thorin has to welcome or trust her. Who is this woman, why is she here, and why is Mahal's mark on her hand?"

- Yukitora-J L WrightRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0I really love this and that comes from someone who rarely dips into fanfic (my impression of the original is usually very strong and difficult to put aside.) I think it was very clever to write a story around the hobbit as it was such a short book with a lot of room to explore middle Earth.
one of the things I love most is the development of the Dwarven culture and the bonds built between Sara, the MC, and the company. Each Dawrf feels flesh out and real and the way the author hits the beats of the original plot whilst adding their own unique twist is just brilliant.
I think that this is written with a genuine love for Tolkien's works but it is its own story and one I would be happy to read again and again, (I'll probably do a re-read before it's even finished!)
I truly do love it and part of me wants to know how events here will affect the events in 60 years time. But for now I'm just loving the journey these characters are going on and I'm along for the ride. If you want a good story, I would recommend. - jey114Royal Road★★★★ 4.0This is well written. The story is fun, the characters are relatable and the author has a certain flair of presentation which can genuinely grip the reader. If this were a typical type of story than I would read it with enthusiasm.
Unfortunately, it is written as a fanfiction of J. R. R. Tolkien's The Hobbit.
Tolkien designed his stories of Middle Earth with more than enjoyment in mind. In his stories there permeates a sense of destiny, from the bravery of armies to the small actions of a simple hobbit. There is also an atmosphere of sacredness; the world is a harmony sung into existence by Iluvatar, the tragedy of mortality is presented beautifully from the perspective of lovers, and simple bonds of friendship bring about world-changing consequences.
This story has none of that. A woman is placed into a narrative that is unrelated to her. Other characters, despite retaining their personalities, suddenly feel incomplete in the absence of a deep sense of underlying purpose.
I'm sure many would enjoy this story. It is well written. I think it deserves four stars. Unfortunately, I think it has failed to grasp what truly made Tolkien great. It is therefore not for me.
