The Tower of Power: Business Edition

Description
When magic is controlled by the world’s biggest tech company, a young intern will do whatever it takes to climb the corporate ladder and grasp real power…
Kaden’s first week as an intern at the world’s most powerful company is not what he expected. Magical monsters, technological mysteries, and talking pets are just the beginning. Every day is a challenge, as he learns to navigate poor performance reviews, deadly monster attacks, and backstabbing office politics.
Will he survive long enough to discover the truth about his father? How ruthless will he become in order to achieve his goals and take his revenge? What power must he gain to make his way up the Tower?
What to Expect: The Tower of Power: Business Edition is a sci-fi / fantasy progression story set in a corporate high-rise of the near-future. It’s a real stir fry. You can expect fights, mysteries, character development, some humor, a little drama, a little gore, tasteful profanity (yum!), and some gamelit elements mixed in.
The Setting: It’s 2045. The world now depends on the technology of a single corporation, the Company. Despite the advancements of the past twenty years in clean energy, antigravity, and medical treatments, there are even more wars, wider economic problems, and deeper societal rifts. Progress!
The Main Character: A young man willing to do whatever it takes (or so he thinks) to discover the truth. I look forward to reader feedback on which way to take the story when the MC has to make difficult, life-altering decisions.
About me: First-time writer, long-time corporate shark. I enjoy lampooning American business culture. Immensely. IYKYK.
Release Schedule: Weekly. If I'm able to write more, I'll publish more :)

- SpookyspacklesRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Here's the rating so far for the start of this tale,
Style
The story so far is told through Kaden's perspective, and follows his understanding of modern magical society (or in this case, the company), which effectively leaves readers just as curious as he is to delve into its secrets.
It has a great balance of worldbuilding and character building, and uses descriptors that are light and easy to read through.
Story
This story has an awesome premise that modernizes magic in the real world and capitalizes it to keep it a secret. Who's to say there aren't a few Fortune 500's with a chimera or two stored at the executive floors?
Aside from doing a great job at worldbuilding, the story is based on a journey of revenge and curiosity from the MC, that has readers supporting them from the get-go.
Grammar
Clean as a whistle. Didn't catch any issues with grammar/sentence structure, or the flow of the narrative.
Character
Despite following Kaden's viewpoint, the author does an excellent job of bringing out the personalities of the characters around him. Everyone, from the juniors to the managers has a realistic presence and role in the 'company', and there are plenty of well-placed tidbits posting ominous red flags on certain individuals.
Unfiltered Sandy is probably the best character introduced so far (in my opinion). When you get to them, they are a treat and a half. Just bring some peanut butter. - a.skklz09Royal Road★★★★★ 5.0it was intriguing, fun, and i’m excited to see what happens next in the story!!
i would recommend this story to anyone that i know! i’m excited for when new chapter come out!!
i thought that the style of writing was also very nice, because it really can matter how you write a story, so i think this amazing writing style really makes all the difference in this story! - earlgrayerRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Really enjoying the story so far (caught up to latest chapter), in particular the send up of modern business practice and jargon
Setting / premise is pretty unique as far as I know: big business has taken over the secret dungeons and magic that appeared on a near-contemporary earth. MC is a scheming young hot head who gets an internship at the "company." I like how he makes decisions sometimes that are morally ambiguous in order to get ahead or figure out plot secrets, but hasn't descended into full murderhobo (which I dislike)
The magic system is also different, although we've only touched the tip of the iceberg so far. We'll see how that develops
Worth five stars and a read just for the office pet.... no spoilers, but one of the few times I've ever laughed out loud reading a story on RR
