Description

It takes more than just talent to reach the heavens. More than just an accident of birth or a flash of fortune. It is a long, arduous journey that comes with many costs. It takes determination. Will. A strive to improve and overcome. ...and a little bit of help in the form of a miraculous artifact offering guidance, purpose, and treasures beyond mortal comprehension certainly goes a long way. When you’re an orphan street rat with no money, no family, and nothing but hunger and death in your future, you don’t question miracles. Calvin certainly didn’t question his. And suddenly, his future didn't seem quite so dark any more What to expect: - Gradual progression - A clearly defined power system based on xianxia cultivation - Minor LitRPG elements native to the setting with no all-powerful out of context system to rely on - Sects, martial arts, and young masters, oh my! - An expansive original setting drawing on more than just typical xianxia influences with room to grow and an explicit ceilingTentatively updating Sundays and Wednesdays.

I read up to chapter 18 in another place. It's a wholesome story of gradual character growth in a xianxia setting. There are no Mary Sues or typical Xianxia genre cliches. The main character received the treasure that was due to him, but the rest is in his hands, and he must achieve everything through his own work.If you like slowburn powergrowth stories like Ave Xia Rem Y or They never called, yet he is here, for example, it's definitely worth a try.

Were following a disciple who has secured his spot in the sun, found the knowledge and has set his path
a young man whos worst times are behind him and can finally unclench and focus on distant goals instead of the day to day. Its what caught my attention about this story, our mc is confident and assured, and knows which games to play in a storm of sect politics ressource rights and ever present danger those elicit. we skip the beginning of a cultivators journey and start where the mighty truly build their first steps on the road to immortality

Why is this novel good?Heres my reasons:
System:makes sense and not too op
    Mc:Charecter with depth
Side charecters:Not fleshed out but seem to possess a soul
Sect:Capitalistic as america is(whoch is very)
    Grammar:No faults so far
World building:a little lacking but thats because its 90k words into the story
Power system:Intresting and not dissimilar to the usual trope but done in a fashionable and unique way
The only complaint i have is about the names being western but thats just my preference in such novels
    Authour keep it up!

I started reading this on Questionable Questins, and it was a big surprise to find such an amazing story. I really like the characters—it feels like everyone has their own distinct voice. Calvin is a realistic main character, and I love the world-building so far. It really feels like classic xianxia, but with a twist

Refreshing take on the "cultivation with a hidden system" story style.
I have read up to chapter 8 thus far and really enjoy the way the story is structured the scrolls abilities strike a great balance thus far between helping the protagonist progress at a steady pace with him becoming immediately overpowered as can be seen in story's following a simmilar style. One small detail I quite enjoyed is the oft overlooked hey ive got all these treasures how am I going to explain this to the sect official? Which really makes the sect feel lived in as it makes the cultivators day to day seem more relatable and down to earth. As mentioned above so far the pacing is done well with just enough progress either by the protagonists own effort or the scrolls gifts to make the journey feel satisfying. I would recommend this story to people who enjoy the genre but may be looking for something a little different than what it usually presents to the reader.

It has all the elements that you would want in a cultivation novel. Theres a healthy amount of fighting without it revolving around when the next fight will be. The sect elements are well thought out as well with our main character being outside the normal spotlight he could achieve but it’s done in a believable way with no unnecessary face slapping against the “unranked” disciple. Cultivation is his goal and it reflects that. Each character has their own thoughts as well and don’t seem like placeholders for archetypes, and while there are the classic tried and true tropes they aren’t haphazard and lacking. This is perhaps my number one cultivation story on this site and with the Epilogue being out I feel like this was a great point to write this review.
Thank you Author, I look forward to more

There are so many cultivation novels out there, but this is one of the few where anything (including the characters) make sense. The MC and most of the people we meet are 'normal'/believable, plus a few who tick the archetype boxes  for fun (a young master here or there etc). The cultivation system is very well described and thought through - I almost look forward to those chapters more than the (also very well written) fights. The MC cheat is OP but not so much that it destroys the fun of the story - and he is also (for once) rational about using it!The story itself feels slice-of-life-y so far, in a cultivation sect that seems mostly normal and sensible - limited bullying, no ridiculous thievery or face-slaping, but equally it's not all-knowing or 100% benevolent. It really works well. Will be interesting to see if there is a greater story arc waiting to emerge, but I'm confident it will be a great read either way!Grammar is more than good enough to carry the story - no noticeable mistakes that derail anything.Overall, this is easy to recommend, and a very enjoyable read. Looking forward to reading more as it comes out!

As the other reviews, I've read this on another forum and I'm at chapter 18. You can tell I love the story and want to support the author cause I've come across to leave a review.
So what are my thoughts? On an initial impression I was a bit weirded out by the western names, not something you find often in xianxia, but once I moved past that I enjoyed the author's spin on a cultivation novel. It's not fast paced but I think the author has a way of writing that leaves you wanting more. I can go through 5k words and feel like I've only read 1 that's how enjoyable it is.
The golden finger is interesting, it's a cheat but you still feel like Calvin is working for his progression rather than just handed power.

After book 1 I can confidently say, that the book one that I will keep up with as each new chapter comes out.MC is not a complete loner and keeps a small clique of friends, the characters are fleshed out and have a bit of their own depththe grammer is good which is always both a plus and a requirementin short, a recommended position for a xianxia fan

My biggest issue with this series as it stands is that there isn't more. It's one of those webnovels where I can't help but check the page to see if a new chapter has come out every day. The charcters are simple and well characterized, and the MC feels virtuous in a way that more traditional Xianxia protagonists aren't (even if he doesn't admit it to himself). He might talk in terms of 'exploiting' people, but when faced with true evil, he's horrified and disgusted.
As far as the future goes, I'm somewhat worried that this story will turn into harem slop, but until that future arrives, I'll be sticking with this story.
