The Tamer is Repulsive
Community Rating
Description
What works in a game does not always work as well in reality, a fact that a certain FDMMORPG (Full-Dive-Massively-Multiplayer-Online-Role-Playing-Game) player discovers when he is yanked from the game-world into another one. His unique set of in-game skills and traits, designed to help him get the most powerful monsters on his side, end up nearly causing his death. Escaping at the last moment, The Repulsive Tamer named Vaile goes on a grand adventure to see those Tamed Beings of his that exist in the New World, but he must be careful. After all, death is but a heartbeat away when you are the ugliest conceivable being to ‘civilized people’ and an absolute hunk to monsters.

- ShadeHavenRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0To be honest, I only review after reaching three points.
1- Maybe my review will be noticed
2- I really like the story
3-I have a good amount of information
With these three things accomplished, I begin my review.
The style of the story feels unique, and even though there are many point of view changes, it feels quite smooth surprisingly, and with the in-depth background explanations and the helpful in-put of the author, it feels built up and well thought out. 5 stars.
To be honest, as long as it isn't mangled terribly, I don't care about grammar. That's why people post their stories, to do stuff like this and get that stuff kinked out. Very few mistakes though, 4.5 stars.
The story obviously has depth, and even though it only really involved the obvious main character in the first half, it was still intriguing and really dragged me on. I enjoyed it a lot, and with the author's promise for more MC in the next part, 4.5 stars.
The characters are thought out, well constructed, and have depth, and it portrays well what actual people would think rather than the cuddly, everything is good ideal in most stories, no pure evil vs good going on. Apparently, again, there will be more MC developement next part. Can't wait! 4.5 stars.
All together, fantastic style, I don't care about grammer that much, story and characters soon to be developed even further, the ratings might even be changed to a higher grade later on. I think this is a 5 star story, thank you for posting! - VenomRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0*As of chp 3*
I like where this is going.
Will continue to read - NotsaeRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0A very interesting concept that so far seems decently well executed, though it's too early to truly tell.

STORY
Not is exactly something "new" but takes some fantasy themes and backgrounds that are not used a lot, and put them under a light that is normaly used by video game narratives but not in novels (both gamelit and litrpg use a different narrative in contrast to this one).
And if even if I were to take the normal approach to "isekai'ed into a game world" rather than looking at the "good guys" side, you know, the guys that respond to the "raid bosses" and "events", the MC although not on their side, is a moving force and is besides the arc focus characters.
GRAMMAR
Idk, english is not my first tongue ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
CHARACTERS
Although the author uses tropes like "the fangirl","bossy yandere", an old man insist to marry mc with his grandchild, and others, in the context of the story, how the setting is, some of them makes sense (plus are humorous), some of them are to add extra perrsonality into characters (take it as you will, some characteristics are only "extra").
My favorite point is how the characters, especialy the new world "raid bosses" are played with a background, style and/or trope that have fused in such way (at least is good enough for me)
STYLE
Spoiler: minor spoilers
So it starts as a normal isekai with tamer (there is some of them, not as many as the mage or sword classes), BUT quickly have new takes on all Isekai-harem-fantasy introducing a rat race that basically controls the under-empire that saves him from being hanged accused of "extreme uglyness".
Now, this rat race is of course a classic desing (looking at you inexistent ratmen called "skaven") being a cruel culture and such, except that their top leaders are all females, something that to my knowledge is rare, in fact I haven't seem a rat race anywhere with even "named" females. of course this is beacuse is an easy harem and with the personality of the rats, it comes off as a yandere harem with both humor and "oh shit" cruel moments.
Then MC's common sense kicks in telling - SandsforeverRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5Not for everyone but I enjoy novels like this so I am curious wherever the author takes it
Cant wait for more personally
Edit 26 enjoyable story
I love it so far
Warning: read the bio (or synopsis of the story)
Edit:
Caught up again
Still a decent read - ForgottenManOnlineRoyal Road★★★★ 4.0I was initially attracted to this story by the cover art and blurb. I liked the idea of an Isekai novel focussed around taming. However, I got to the end of chapter 4 and decided this story would not be my thing. I probably should have paid attention to the content warning in the blurb. I'll give a review for this anyway as the author has asked for feedback and encouragement to keep writing beyond prototyping. Here goes, based on the start of the book, anyway:
Style:
The writing style for this story, I feel, suffered a little from too much exposition. I believe the author wants to develop a rich world to set this in, but quite often I felt that characters backstories were told to me, rather than a more "organic" reveal through dialogue and description. I did find this to improve quickly as the story went on, however.
Story:
I can't contribute much to the story having read only a quarter of what's available. What I did read was interesting and not something like I've read before, which is a difficult element to Isekai stories on RRl as there are so many amateur authors beginning stories to write on the site. This one stood out, so take that as a recommendation if the events that start at the end of chapter 4 are your sort of thing.
Grammar:
The sentence structure for The Tamer Is Repulsive is good. There are only a few stylistic errors --nothing an auto-corrector would pick up-- that sometimes result in sentences that are a bit unwieldy in the amount and order of information they deliver. I'd also say that the author uses a decent mix of passive and active voice, so you aren't stuck with monotonous pacing. One criticism I would like to offer is that the author tends towards sentences of similar length (usually longer). I would have enjoyed a discerning use of shorter sentences in scenes of action (such as when his tamed ratgirl saves him from execution).
Character:
Like story, I haven't had much experience with the characters. I have the same feedback that I had for - HegelundRoyal Road★★★ 2.5some mild spoilers ahead so read at your own discretion.
so I pretty much only have negative things to say about this story, but I still give it 3 stars because it's not total trash it's just kinda meh. I gave it an honest shot, at least I think 50 chapters is enough for a fair review. anyways here are my nitpicks.
so it starts off with a couple chapters of backstory and introduction to the world, and it's fine.
then very soon after, there's like 12~15 chapters of battle descriptions that you can just skip. they're not all that interesting and the main character isn't even in the war, he's off riding a carriage far away. he basically doesn't even show up in most of them.
then there's the character bios chapters, which basically introduce characters before they show up in the story. 100% tell don't show.
and lastly there's a weird amount of references to other stories and media:
two bards sing land down under while fighting and then later they quote LOTR: "fight side by side with a dwarf", "how about side by side with a friend". there's a Leeroy Jenkins reference somewhere that really doesn't fit the tone of the scene it's in.
so there are my thoughts, and i should mention it gets better after book 1.
