I was asked about chapter size, and the answer is there isn't one. I try to keep them above 1500 words, but some will be a lot longer, though to be honest those chapters are not good judges of size because they tend to be the ones that hold a lot of charts and screens. So of dialog expect around 1200 or so words in those chapters. That being said, there are a lot of 2000+ word chapters, so hang on tight.

- Vegros101Royal Road★★★★★ 5.0Style: The style feels as though a lot of thought went into the development of the world and its characters. Nothing feels as though it was haphazardly thrown in on a whim. Something I dearly appreciate. Furthermore, the use of system prompts are just the right amount.
Story: A story that gives that sense of progression that many other modern webnovels either execute too quickly or drag out. The last time I remember a story being so engaging would have to be Azarinth Healer or Defiance of the Fall.
Grammar: The writing is quite decent. Obviously the author has had prior experience because it feels quite polished in my opinion. There was a tense shift after the first few chapters if I remember correctly but it was not jarring enough for me to mind.
Characters: The standout to me is The System itself. While the main character is also fantastic, I appreciate the humanity given to a construct typically given a neutral and unfeeling personality. More than that, it implies that not everything is as it seems (something I won’t go into further detail on).
In terms of the rest of the cast, I appreciate the way that the family gets introduced and the subtle clan building occurring. I cannot wait to see the eventual payoff for such buildup when he returns to Earth.
Highly recommend this novel. - VertigoMonkeyRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0After checking out Book 1 on Kindle Unlimited, I came here before Book 2 released on Amazon and binged through all the available chapters. It was difficult for me to stop reading once I started. Instead of following the most common trope of a loner or outcast that gets isekai'd into an alternate universe, this follows the path of an older family man that has time to mourn leaving his family behind and adjust to his impended teleportation to a new world instead of just being immediately thrust into it.
Overall, I really enjoy the story and premise. There are fairly few grammatical errors and the story flows pretty well. My biggest point of constructive feedback for the author would be to work on the pacing of the larger plot and individual events. At times, it's difficult to understand how much time is passing in more "mundane" or slice-of-life aspects other than some vague references and other times it seems like particular conflicts or issues resolve a little too quickly/conveniently. Not huge issues in my mind, and they will definitely not stop me from continuing to follow and read this story.
Apparently I was short of 200 words for this review by 8 words, so this should put me over. - Penguin CommonerRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Love how the author doesn't skip parts of it! The first part of the story is confusing, but serves as a great foundation. I love how it uses the foundation, and works on character relationships! (Not romance so far). Please keep on working on this story author! I love reading it!
- Sir GreenhiltRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Bought and read all three published books already, and I just want more. The only negative is formating of stats and system descriptions, which sucks. Some people will definetly not like the low tension and low power struggle, but it was just perfect for me. Can't wait to read on
- John7765Royal Road★★★★★ 5.0This series kicks off with a compelling and well-executed premise in Book 1, "Path of the Forerunner." The writing capably draws the reader into Robert's fundamentally relatable, yet cosmically jarring, predicament: an ordinary middle-aged family man unexpectedly chosen as the sole harbinger for Earth's integration into a vast, game-like System. The core conflict – Robert's forced separation from his loved ones and his race against time to prepare both himself and them – provides a strong emotional anchor amidst the introduction of intricate LitRPG mechanics like stats, skills, unique perks, and an AI companion.
While, like many ambitious indie projects, there might be occasional stylistic inconsistencies or areas for minor polish, these are easily overshadowed by the story's considerable promise. The world-building hints at a vast multiverse, the System mechanics feel thoughtfully constructed, and Robert's journey from bewildered participant to capable mage and enchanter offers satisfying progression. The blend of high-stakes System training, intense dungeon crawls, detailed crafting, and deeply personal family drama creates a rich narrative tapestry.
What's particularly encouraging is the author's evident commitment to the series. With Book 1 laying substantial groundwork, Book 2 expanding the world and stakes into places like Oakhaven, and Book 3 already underway, it's clear this isn't a story that will be abandoned prematurely. Readers looking for a substantial LitRPG series with a grounded protagonist facing immense challenges, both internal and external, will find a rewarding and long-term investment here. The author's dedication suggests this story will indeed be with us for a while, and the unfolding journey promises much more to come. - Stan101Royal Road★★★★★ 4.5While I can see why some people say the story needs a little work, I've found some of the comments to be a little over harsh and not fully to point. The book needs some professional editing but the material is good.
The story at times presents things a little easy for Robert, and he always wins, but that's to be expected. If he kept losing the story would have ended around chapter 25. To be honest there is a TON of detail given to how thins work but it's sort of expected, otherwise the reader would be stuck figuring it out and let's be honest we'd get it wrong.
One thing I did notice was Roberts family seems normal, which I can see some people not liking, the Williams family is overly normal, but so are most families so I can see why the author decided to go that route. I think he could have wrote a more exciting story if the family was a little crazy but that would probably have turned others off so it's a catch 22.
The paragraphs are long, but that would be expected to a non-professional, again needs some professional editing. One of the things I like is that by the end of book one, I would expect people who have a strong understanding of the author's system and how it works, that is missing in a lot of stories that just keep it all hidden.
Battles are detailed but not overly so, I'm not sure if it's a focus issue, meaning is this about the battles or not. I expect that it isn't but I like reading about the battles so more detail there would be nice, but I can see that it isn't 100% needed for the story, but would still be nice.
All and all, it's an interesting twist from the normal story in the space, the idea of him leaving and returning after his family is gone is different. I did look through the comments and I see people did comment on time travel making it worthless, but I see the author did respond(Which is nice) and explained how that would work and how it wouldn't work for Robert.
Worth the read, mainly because it's written well enough, the story is inter - PoogabonriferRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5TLDR: book needs some work but it is a very engaging story despite its flaws.
So I'll start by saying that I really like the concept and the world building and that I bought and binge read book 1 off Amazon before posting this comment. My main complaint is that it seems to me that the author's first language is not English, or that they used something like ChatGPT to do a lot of their writing for them. I've got no problem with using AI stuff to clean up your grammar. But a lot of the writing comes across as the character thinking and talking like how an AI would be depicted in like 2001 a space odyssey or something. Overly formal language and occasionally extremely robotic/jarring grammar. And it's weird because some chapters have this for the whole chapter, some just parts of the chapter and some seem much more like human writing. Inwant to love the story but I continuously get kicked out of the zone when the way the chacters talk pulls a 180 and goes robo mode for several pages.
Stuff like describing a series of 4 short battles as countless battles. Or a fight that lasts all of 30 second as extemely arduous and exhaustive that is won by his impeccable skill with the blade. A blade that he has only been using for all of a day or so. Sure, going up in skill is probably going to help with precision of moves and ensuring perfect edge alignment on each swing. But based on how he has described the skill system, without a skill book use, leveling up a skill like longsword will not teach you footwork or advanced katas and moves. It just makes you better at what you already know. He seems to go from some computer engineer dude with some limited undescribed modern military experience in hisnpast to a godlike swordmaster over the course of maybe a couple of days, which seems to defy the way that the author has described the system working.
Stuff like this is an easy fix if the author goes back and edits the story to include a skillboook gained as loot. There are a few instan - sgrich20Royal Road★ 0.5Everything about this system is extremely complicated, unnecessarily so. The first 14 chapters are like page long paragraphs where the dialog is scrunched together, it’s hard to distinguish who the f*** is saying what. They repeat the same conversations over and over. I love boxes, I love notifications, but seriously? There’s such a massive info dump just trying to make sense of it. All of this…all of it…would have been fine, welcomed even. If the story got off to a good start, but it doesn’t. MC is lame, the family is annoying, he’s given everything without working for it. Magic is boring, fights are boring and don’t feel very impactful. What is his motivation? He’s like a…dad, but his family isn’t killed or taken from him, so to speak. He’s got training wheels with an AI that’s giving him all the secrets. What…why? Where is the struggle? This is how I want to have my universe integrated. It’s safe, it’s boring, I’m given tons of power ups from day 1. Nobody I know is dying, my world is still intact. When it’s threatened, I get to come back a 400 year old wizard to then use my time magic to go back right after i left to be with my family…wink wink. Sounds great…terrible idea for a book. Lame.
