The Soulstealer's War [Military Litrpg, Skill Merging]

Description
I died and woke up in a soldier’s body. We’re Duplicates. Dupes. An artificial army built from a template, born with access to the System and a [Soldier] class. And we’re the kingdom’s only hope for surviving the orc hordes. Dupes have enormous potential, but sometimes, the souls of people from other worlds can transmigrate into their bodies. That was where I came in—I was just a college student from Earth, wasting away in a degree I didn’t care about, but now, I’m an Atoning, serving on the front lines to pay off my “theft of soul.” Here, survival is a luxury. We’re nothing but fodder for a crumbling empire. I’m up against orcs, mutated monsters, and disgruntled members of my battalion who want to put a knife in my soul-stealing back. But there’s a chance, no matter how slim, to become more than just a soldier and turn my name into a legend. If I can’t rise above the rot that’s taken hold of this world, no one else will. This is a skill-merging Litrpg for people who like a little more thoughtful progression and stories that are lighter on the Litrpg elements. What to expect: - Military litrpg - A hopeful MC in a gritty world, building ragtag teams and helping out where he can - Minor kingdom/faction building - Gravity manipulation powers - Daily chapters

A lot of stories on Royal road, the MC just gets skills or abilities. Hear everything feels very earned. It makes you very excited for whenever he gets something new on his sheet. - DocnoeRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Good story and the characters seem like real people. - HobolobotomyRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0This is like if someone got isakai'd into the clone wars but medieval. Three system is interesting and it's good at see the MC exploiting the system's functions to advance faster. Writing is solid and enjoyable. Binged all current chapters today. Here are nine more words so I can post.
- Legend117Royal Road★★★★★ 5.0I really like how this story builds. The characters are well thought out and it feels more natural and realistic than many other stories. I highly recommend reading this story and can’t wait to reach each new chapter as it’s posted. Which thankfully, is quite often compared to some of my other favorite stories.
- elhamhemat78Royal Road★★★★★ 5.0I personally enjoy isekai, as it is my favorite genre. I have also written my own story, so I can appreciate the effort and creativity that go into creating one. Since you are from Canada, and I am as well, I believe it is important to support and give an honest, thoughtful review to a fellow countryman who is trying.
- Haz3Royal Road★★★★★ 4.5It's reminiscent of A Soldiers Life with some personal twists. I'm a big fan of the Dupes, and what little we know about they're background. There's a range of power systems to explore, our mc is talentless but highly willing, and I'm enjoying the dynamics. I'll be happy to see where this is going, and I'm comfortable giving is a 8-9 out of 10. It's not a masterpiece, but it's a nice story I'll be following
- DennariiRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5I quite like the setting, very fantasy clone wars.
I don't really understand why its an Isekai, and frankly think a native MC would have been more interesting. Particularly with how little of "earth" the MC brings with them.
Ignoring that rather subjective "flaw", I've been quite enjoying the story. - Josii TalwynRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5The Soulstealer's War does something I don't see enough in isekai progression fantasy: it makes you care about the starting point. Levi doesn't arrive in another world with a cheat skill or a hidden power. He shows up in a starving body with zero stats, no allies, and a month to prove he deserves to live. The Duplicate concept an army of cloned soldiers who all share one face, is genuinely original and adds layers to the identity themes baked into the isekai setup. The magic system is well-paced. Instead of dumping everything in chapter two, the author parcels out information about Skills, Presence, tiers, and Arts across ten chapters of actual story. You learn the system the same way Levi does, which keeps it engaging. The combat is grounded and messy. Levi almost dies because he grabbed the wrong end of his spear, and that kind of detail goes a long way.Where it could tighten up: the early chapters lean on dialogue-based exposition a bit much. Levi asks a question, someone explains, repeat. It works because the characters are solid Shave, Romance, and Ticks all feel distinctI really did enjoy this one and I will keep reading!
- Editing by KatieRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5The pre-isekai part didn’t really draw me in too much, but the premise and the richness of the world-building has definitely convinced me to stay! The numbers are slow to increase, which is maybe not my favorite part, but it certainly makes every advancement feel earned.
Plus I resonate with someone who asks non-stop questions lol - Destinus PathRoyal Road★★★★ 4.0A bunch of Jango Fett's running around in medieval times if magic existed. It's a fun idea written in first person, which isn't usually my preferred style of reading.
The author put in a good deal of time and thought into researching armor and weapons used in that time period. It makes for a more compelling read.
