Description
Theo Crowley is a magician born to null parents, and if anyone finds out it’ll mean death for all of them. Luckily Theo has managed to hide for the last few years under the guardianship and tutelage of the Lord Woodman. Unfortunately that time is about to come to an end, as Theo is about to start attending school at the Angitia School for Sorcerous gentlemen and gentlewitches. To make matters worse, he’s going to be rooming with Sylas Thorne the son of the nation’s greatest Hunters, a group dedicated to hunting down and killing ‘Irregulars’ like Theo.

- ClibboRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0I pulled this Gem out of my read later pile. I was just Hangover from bulk reading the ritualist boy.
And felt too empty to start new characters.
Well I am committed.
I enjoy the snide, it fits the scenery. I already got piled on with questions that demand answering.
I am writing a review because I need more of you to get on it to share in the fun.
And I do enjoy Mason's stories, they are probably harder to write than to read, but it's a nice comic relief. - Another bookwormRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5I was a bit hesitant about reading a story with no ratings or reviews, and while it can still do with a bit more polishing, I was quickly drawn in as soon as I opened it.
The side characters feel real with their own backgrounds and tones. The main character, while completely missing what’s going on, comes by the idiot ball honestly, his decisions and thought processes make contextual sense, and he’s sweet under the gruffness.
The magical system is fleshed out, interesting, and consistent.
Patiently waiting for more content. - JabberwockenRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5Well written, interesting characters set in a dangerous magical school. It's essentially Harry Potter meets Red Son - a dystopian, cull-the-weak take on a magical school. I was really enjoying it.
BUT
Starting in Chapter 14, it moves toward the boys' love genre, which isn't for me.
So, while I respect the style of the novel and the skill of the storyteller, I'll be giving this a pass. YMMV. - KlayrityRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5An excellent story with some minor grammatical hiccups and formatting issues. The world building is wonderfully unique and the magic system is intriguing and palpable. The plot is engaging, if a little directionless at first.
The style is quick and concise, while maintaining a compelling tapestry of imaganitve imagery, and the action is engaging and easy to follow.
I highly recommend giving this story a try if minor grammatical and formatting errors aren't too off-putting, and recommend attempting to read it anyway even if they are. It's worth it, and I do honestly believe in the potential of this work. - StillNotDisRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5As alternatives to the isekei model of exposition go, I'm not fond of the 'native character is sent somewhere they are stupidly unprepared for, everything needs to be exposited to them as they flail around' trope.
However it does pick up from that after the start, with Theo showing areas of agency and understanding. The worldbuilding of evil nobles and incredibly wasteful school systems is competent towards making on the main characters side, and the building blocks of the tropes are arranged in novel ways. The characters, whilst stock, demostrate internal motivations and feel authentic.
The story shines with its magic system - being both clear and full of flavour, as well as operating with rules that let a prepared person defeat the magic of someone more powerful. This sets the themes of spycraft and thievery Theo enacts translate into tangible power.
However if you're still feeling trauma from your own school life cringe, you might want to avoid the intense second hand embarrassment Theo's inability to communicate creates every other chapter. - Minato SanineRoyal Road★★★★ 4.0I clicked on an add and found an not exeptionaly original but well put together and rather immersive story.
Until now my main critic was the lack of information but with this chapter, I have been convinced !
The style and the emotion depicted are complex enough to trap you inside the Narrative (spoiler) and if you doubt a bit the events should fix the Working of suspence you feel.
So give it a try !
