Description

Elzio Shilon, like many heroes, has grown up knowing only one purpose: Championing his nexus and homeland in Arena Battles.

But when he uncovers a plot to sacrifice his kingdom's nexus to a power-hungry rival, he must reconsider everything he knew about the nexi, their rule, and their ultimate goal for universal dominion. Instead of fighting for his people, he teams up with an Echo Nexus, a being whose sole purpose is to be farmed by a larger nexus.

Together, the two of them embark on a quest to defeat the nexi, not for power or glory, but for the salvation of mortal-kind.

I don't play MOBAs and have zero interest in watching other people play them, but this story is just that, and I actually enjoy it.
This story is very, very different from the other story I've read from this author both in terms of setting and plot. That's not a bad thing at all, just an observation.
My biggest gripe with a lot of stories is exteneded combat scenes, filled with internal monologues of will they/won't they predictions. There isn't that problem with this story though. The author is good at keeping this on point and not getting bogged down in the "if they do this, I do that" planning that is common in other books heavy on combat.
I like that the story so far is driven by plot and character interaction rather than base building or punching things enough times to get stronger, even though those are sort of aspects of MOBAs, and that's not to say these aspects aren't included of course.
