Description
When Jason graduated top of his class in the Magnus Academy he thought he'd have his choice of jobs. Unfortunately, a royal decree asked for the top graduating student to be sent to the capital to serve as the new court wizard. Left with little choice, Jason took the job, reluctantly. As a commoner, he knew he'd be at a disadvantage in the politics driven royal court. Jason expected that his new job would test his wits as he'd have to struggle to fit in and keep himself out of trouble amidst all the intrigue. What he didn't expect was that the kingdom would quickly fall into crisis soon after he takes the post.

- TribblesRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0The people who are best in positions of power are tones who don't really want that power. This holds true for the protagonist in this story. He's quite good at the job, to the point of being almost OP, but he's flawed enough to still be interesting. The supporting characters and the world building are interesting, as is the plot so far. The writing style is clear and easy to read. All in all, I recommend this rather enjoyable read.
- GarlathRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Likeable and mostly rational main character. Great setting that we have so far only touched the edge of. Love the magic system and the characterisation.
Level of politics is about right - it's there and interesting but isn't done to death.
Level of fighting is also pretty good - again, it's there and well written but not overblown or overly dominating the story.
Definitely recommend and can't wait for more! - IDontKnowItRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0The story flows well and the author makes interesting likeable characters and a unique world, I can't wait to see more of this series. A follow, a favorite, and a five star review from me. To the author of you read this: Keep up the writing and know that your book is excellent, very well done.
- JtabacoRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0magic system in intoduced well and story flows nicely. this is my first review as i find it hard to add to the previous reviews and my enjoyment of reading is more of immersion and introspection rather than critical evaluation. that being said the first reviews i read before starting this story were critical of possible future harem trope. while i will read some of them if that is the focus i really dont prefer them so far as of dec 21 the female characters are presented well and seems more of normal interaction of young people newly introduced into the "real world" . as to the suborning of the intelligence of the mc... the majority of inteligent people focus on a particular angle of reality leaving other aspects in the background and it would be easy to forget most driven intelligent ppl have staff/advisors to make sure other areas outside of focus arent missed. basically being smart isnt all knowing
- Morrison235Royal Road★★★★★ 5.0Unique yet familiar, if your familiar with the genre this story could feel like any one of your favorite stories. However, the storyline is a unique and fresh take, world building is light as of chapter 17, yet what is there promises a rich story world. Improvements I hope to see to the story is some more back story into the main characters seemingly deep magical education, also while their seems to be hints of romance, there does not seem to be any signs of the dreaded harem plot line so far. I've read every story in the top 20 ongoing and will be adding this to the ones I'll read as soon as a new chapter is released.
- PotassiumRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0After reading the published chapters of this fiction the only thing I want is more of them. This a fiction with a well-balanced equilibrium of drama, comedy, intrigue, action and magic, never boring, everything well done, with mysteries awaiting to be solved. It has been early days of his new job for the MC but something I would want to see would be some slice-of-life chapters, about the day-to-day of a Court Mage
- Sam9018Royal Road★★★★★ 5.0I've been following this since practically the begining when you started posting. And I've got to say this is one of the stories that I am truly looking forward to reading everyday. Don't let the negative reviews get you down. Just continue putting out the best work you can and the readers will follow. Can't wait to read your next work, whether is RCW or a new story.
- EmpireofTrustRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5First up I rarely give more than four stars so read in that light.
This story has a beautiful style that fades the writing into the background as you immerse yourself into the story.
The info dumps are very short only explained as the characters need them immediately, nicely infusing them into the story telling rather than needing you to wade into text blocks of history, magic techniques or technology.
The world is realised and has depth you can feel, not having too many of the isekai middle kingdom central city one tropes grating at your eyeballs.
The story currently pulls you along as our wizard gets dragged from one demand to the next trying to find himself space to breathe.
In the hopes that the author takes heart from this, the characters introduced as we go have helped illustrate how the society is formed giving life to the story and some small social woes for the MC to muddle through for our entertainment as he juggles his professional and social level requirements.
I am greatly enjoying the story and with great hope in my heart that it continues as it has. - MechmanasRoyal Road★★★★ 4.0The character and world building is great. Slow to begin and then speeds up a little till you are wanting to know more and more about the things not really talked about. Like the background of blackwing and what really are the dungeons Thanks for the story. This 50 word think is pain in the butt.
- deideiRoyal Road★★★★ 4.0Nothing too special yet, but it is an addictive little story. (I've read up to chapter 32)
Good plot and cliffhangers here and there.
At least a 4 star out of 5 I would say by my eagerness to keep reading.
Blah blah blah and there we go 50 words
