It is the Primitive age, the universe was just created by Pangu. The titans of the prehistoric cultivation world are yet to exist. Neither the six saints, nor jade emperor, nor even the demon race. Yet even in this era, dangers are rampant, one wrong move would spell death even to mighty beings. In this era, a serpent was born. Splintered and incomplete, could he even survive?
Featuring lots of drama, the occasional transmigrator, no face slapping, no op mc, and no bashing the native population.
Note: If you like D.C.Haenlien’s “Mythic Cultivation: My Tongtian” can’t be this cute, this xianxia is similar to that as in they both use the same base setting of pre Chinese mythology primordial world.

- Night_0wlRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0The story is intriguing and easy to read for a beginner. Well thought out introduction for people who may not be familiar with Chinese culture. The addition of exciting and enchanting mythological beasts is exciting and sparks the readers imagination. I could not hold myself and had to delve deeper into the plot.
- kryptonRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0I really enjoyed this story.
The characters feel authentic and well-developed, not just stereotypes or reused tropes. There’s a surprisingly large cast, and each one has their own goals and motivations, which makes their interactions feel meaningful and dynamic.
The protagonist can be a bit frustrating at first, but that changes as the story progresses. The internal conflict they go through is handled really well—probably one of the better portrayals of that kind of personal struggle I’ve read.
Compared to the earlier version, characters like Tian Hai and Yang Mei are so much more compelling now. They’ve gone from forgettable to genuinely interesting, and I’d honestly love to see more of the original god fiend trio in action, especially exploring the chaos sea. - monarch_trustworthy_meowRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0I fucking love it!!
One of the best stories I've read, the characters feel real and not just cardboard cutouts of a cliched troupe.
There are so many characters with each having their own goals, and the story just feels amazing with them interacting with each other.
The protagonist feels mind of annoying at the beginning but that changes as we progress. Moreover, this story has one of the best personality conflicts in an individual that I've read.
In the previous version of the story, Tian Hai and Yang Mei didn't feel like that great of characters, however now they seem like these really cool guys. Honestly, I would love to see the original god fiend trio go around the chaos sea.
With Tian Hai making trouble, Yang Mei being annoyed and Huoyun smiling happily.
Huoyun!!! Why did you have to die! His death hit really hard despite me knowing it was going to happen. I in Previous version of the story I used to blame da hai for this but, not so much in the new version. Don't know if it's because of the edit or not.
To sum it up it's insanely good and my personal favourite
[I'll update the review as I read furth] - IfdufieueudRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5Hello to all that bother to read this.
alright, to start off I’m writing this sometime after I’ve put the story on hold. Meaning my memory is a bit foggy on the details of the story. Good news though is the story is memorable so I’m able to recall the
The first 20-30 chapters focus on trying to find ones identity or sense of self a lot of time passes as our mc try’s to figure out who he is. Which is a surprisingly hard task give how he ended up in such a sorry state. It is also not helped by the fact that immortality makes one see time in a different perspective.
our setting is ancient Chinese mythology starting just as… I don’t actually know how to spell their name. Ok just read the first few chapters, his name shows up a few times. Anyway, he’s about to create his world from primordial chaos.
the characters are as mentioned before are memorable. They have flaws and make mistakes. So will go to great lengths even for the chance to get what they want and others will push ahead knowing full well that their most likely going to die. Oh, just so you know characters do die. Even the ones you like, and yes I’m still mad that that guy died. Nothing though to do but read and wait for revenge.
overall I’ve enjoyed it so far and looking forward to the wars to come. - LivingDragon1219Royal Road★★★★★ 4.5Honghuang stories are rare in English, the vast majority of them are machine translated. But of the best Xianxia story written in the Honghuang subgenre that I’ve read.
I understand this type of Xianxia story is very rare so I’ll just explain what it is first.
The summary of this work already explains the basic premise, the mc is born near the beginning but of the Chinese mythological universe and the mythology plays out before his eyes. I’ve read a lot of Honghuang stories thus far and many of them are derivative of each other in a format where the mc is the strongest saint and always benefits even in situation where he doesn’t belong. That is the day honghuang mcs are nosy SI characters.
At the same time, Honghuang stories are also written in the same style as bashing fanfics. If you’ve read a Harry Potter or naruto bashing fanfic, you’ll know what I’m talking about. Just replace dumboldore for Zhunti and Yuanshi Tianzun
Now as for what I like. The plot.
As a reader, I like drama and character interactions. Da Hai’s doesn’t start out as the most likely character nor is he the most overpowered character who can do anything around. He’s actually a bit incompetent. But the relationship he develops with people around him, especially with the dragons and with Hongjun was fun to read.
I’ve read ahead since the RR version is not caught up to webnovel, but the story eventually goes into a dark turn where all war breaks out. Seeing the series of actions, drama, and moments that took place leading up to major crescendo of emotions is also another aspect I’ve come to enjoy.
I do however think one’s enjoyment of this novel relies on how much they can tolerate Da Hai. Like I’ve said, he’s not too competent in pursuing his goal and prone to making dumb decisions often. It’s certainly very unlike most Xianxia where the mc is super competent and always benefits with no losses. - xxLiebertxxRoyal Road★★★★ 4.0This novel is a honghuang, and that means since the author has a lot of passion for this project, looking at the ount of chaps out there. I think I will continue reading this a little more before. Even though honghuang is not my thing, this one is still pretty nice.
- MerpsterRoyal Road★★ 2.0The grammar and spelling issues are so severe that they render the entire story unreadable.
The idea behind the story is intriguing and unique, as it focuses on a cultivation world that has just been created, rather than someone clawing their way up from nothing in a world already dominated by many powerful, established masters and sects. However, there is a grammatical or spelling issue in almost every paragraph.
It is very clear that this is a work someone wrote for fun and then proceeded never to reread, focusing instead on the next chapter.
