- Elfen644Royal Road★★★★★ 5.0This is a great, fun, easy to read adventure into another world. Having recently completed the House Witch series, was pleased to stumble upon this developing tale. Easily enthralled, and then came to the end of Chapter 23 - - -HUH!?! This is the end [for now]. How am I supposed to be able to wait for the next installment ?
Style: very comfortable and casual style. Easy and fun to read. The foreshadowing, perhaps because it is rather subtle at times.
Story: The plot development and pacing, similar to that of the House Witch series, is well paced. Story and character development are well done. Easy to get enthralled by the characters and story.
Grammar: The casual style of sentence construction and grammar is comfortable and easy to follow. Though the arrangement of phrases in a couple of sentences needed a 2nd or 3rd read.
Character: Characters are believable, engaging and well developed through the evolving story. Easy to develop empathy and sympathy for characters, especially the protagonist. Brother Lou’s development and evolution as a person and a monk creates someone, we can believe is real and someone with whom we can align. Development of the relationship between Brother Lou and Oliver Kelly is understated with subtle comments/clues about the possible type of relationship. - BottoanaRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5I really liked this story and was honestly surprised that it was put on hiatus. I personally think it's better than the Delicacy of Magical Debt which I have unfortunately lost interest in. Its too similar to the other books vs this one is just as cozy but has a new spin. Bring back Brother Lou!
