I have been following this fic for a long time, almost since the start. I am not good with reviews, and I don't think my words will do justice to it, but after reading the last chapter (66, to be precise) and the splendid author's note that came with it I wanted to give my two cents on this story.
I have been an avid overlord fan since forever, and I have read pretty much all the fandom fanfics I could find, since the time of God's Rising success; many were... not that good, few were entertaining and even less were worthy of standing out.
This fic, without a doubt, is part of these last ones.
The Overlord of the New World is a strange story. It's strange because just decides to take all the things that are usually associated with overlord (Ainz, Nazarick, the world conquest and the salaryman's perspective) and completely delete them from the equation. From a certain viewpoint, I understand why the story has not been very successful, as it has been cut for a very specific niche.
And yet, despite what many could say, I think few fanworks capture the essence of the original series in a way that is not only good, but also original.
Why? Because the essence of overlord, the overlap between our real persona and the mask we shows others and the way these same others perceive ourselves, even despite our best intention, remains at the core of this story.
Antilene, as a main character, is a delight to follow. Before the release of the last official light novels volumes that "focused" (I say focused, even if her screentime was actually ridicolous) on her character she was no more than the strong chick from the Theocracy who wanted to get impregnated by someone stronger than her, at least when it come to fanfics.
But the Antilene of this story is something else. Taking the small bits we got from canon, the author crafter almost a new character, and what a character! The Antilene of this story is always conflicted about the nature of her duty, her origins and her role in a world

Zesshi is more fun than you think , and in this story you will see that especially since its written by someone with a functioning brain, we start with child Zesshi and see her steady progress throughout the years and so far it has been a blast. Most people have her as a horni betreyer which in their defense was all we knew abt her before , but after 15/16 we know she is alot more even with maru butchering her character, so if ur a fellow panda fan do urself a favour and read this

A solid fanfic that only improves over time; chapter 1 starts off rough, but you can already see a vast improvement when compared with the latest release (only the 13th). The premise is interested and executed pretty well with due respect given to all the canon characters, as well as some realistic changes arising from the AU elements of this story. An enjoyable, cute read with its serious moments.

As the title says, I'll unfortunately have to stop relatively early in the story purely due to the grammar. The worst part is, it's not even that bad. The grammar is actually decent, with not that many 'real' mistakes (at least compared to the average story on this website). What really bothers me are the very many clunky sentences, not-quite-right word uses and the impression that the author simply doesn't yet have the needed knowledge of English to write what seems like such an interesting story. Every once in a while a character uses a word or phrase that just doesn't fit. It kind of feels as if the work was translated by a very competent AI from another language into English. Most sentences work, but there's just a pervading feeling of something always being slightly wrong or clumsy.
Anyways, if you're not as much of a stickler for grammar as I am, you'll certainly be able to love and appreciate the story. I just can't though.
