- TishersRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Initially it took me a few days to get in the groove with the story but once i did I sat down and read up through chapter 134.
The character progression is interesting and how it adds additional personalities as it progresses. The holiday party outtakes may seem irrelevant at first but then eventually that too makes more sense.
I am OK with it changing a bit to be less about rehashing the stats and numbers. What is happening and where the characters are becoming is much more compelling. - NecroTreantRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5The powers are cool. The interaction between the MC and everyone are fun to read and over all its an enjoyable story.
my only gripes are the gender bender and core ejection.
1 the gender bender is only really applicable at the start and then gets filed away as a thing that happened and the mc is totally cool with. Iv read other works by them and the author likes gender bending so whatever but if I was suddenly gender swapped with the power to have the powers of monsters, one of the first things I would do would be to look for a monster that can change its gender like a clown fish. I would be remiss if I didn't mention that the mc has a whole not ok with this arc but I feel the mc just accepts having a different body then what their mind says they should have sucks. but that's more of a whole gender bender issue thing.
the goddess of luck evan noped out of bender bending. She made with the help of Amy the monster breeder class and specifically made it turn the user into a girl because she didn't want to be in the body of a guy.
also life is the best when it comes to this, he's been chill with descending into a host body that's a different gender.
2 the core ejection. The core ejection and attendant summoning just feel weirdly fetishy for me. the mc having to birth the cores along with the sizes of cores being mentioned. it's not a big part after a bit but that's mainly because the mc has been leveling faster then they were absorbing cores so a time when she has to eject them is approaching. also when she absorbs a core it turns into a mist so she doesn't have to eat it or thank goodness insert it but I don't see why the cores can't just mist out of her as well. - kspnRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5I have quite enjoyed the story so far, it is a nice Weak to Strong tale that is nicely laid back.
Thus far it has none of the things I find annoying in a story and I hope it continues in a similar way.
Binge reading it now but as it is a long tale I decided to review it before I hit the end (and before I forgot) - AstrilleRoyal Road★★★★ 4.0As explained in the synopsis, the story focuses on a band of orphans who are defending themselves in a camp from monsters in the woods. The characters themselves aren't anything unusual or special but the story does well to pull you in and keep you interested in them. Normal kids in a situation that is far from normal, and thankfully far from Lord of the Flies.
Style
The story has good pacing throughout with the exception of the final encounter and our reluctant hero's redemption. His choice seems rushed and it would have been nice to see a little more into his thought process to see what changed other than a thin layer of guilt. Especially given that the story is from his point of view.
There were also the inclusion of small details that didn't seem to mesh well. The idea that the gate was small because they're all kids seems unnecessary when the kids entering and exiting are 15+. I'm a fully fledged adult but I can promise you, even with a lack of food, most of those "kids", especially the boys, are probably taller than I am.
Story
The story itself isn't particularly new and is rather predictable. It's still an enjoyable read for anyone who likes the genre for what it is.
Grammar
Nothing stood out as being a grammar issue whilst I was reading. I could potentially comb back through and point accusingly at an unnecessary comma if I wanted to be petty, but at first glance it all looks solid to me.
Character
Characters are well rounded and believable. The dialogue wasn't awkward or robotic and carried across their emotions well.
As stated earlier, I'd like to have seen more from our protagonists point of view for his redemptive choice, but that doesn't make his character a bad one. - bsmnRoyal Road★★★★ 4.0So far as of chapter 21 anyway its been a good read. Decent characters so far intresting story and finally a rare blue mage build though its more like a monk/tamer/blue mage but in my opion blue mage done right are those things. And the gender bender part is fine , were told going in its going to happen and its not terrible or takes away form the story in my opion
Grammer and what not seems decent and right now were getting about a chapter a day so its pretty good all round.
Good story i recomend a read.
Ps doing this cause no one else has and it deserves it at this point. Even though my english skills are very poor. - Davey daveRoyal Road★★★ 3.0This is a well written power fantasy fetish story with an interesting golden finger. That being said it is a fetish story about:
A forcibly feminised man who just brushes that off mostly, but then repeatedly gets made pregnant by their abilitys.
If you do not like this, the story isn't for you. If you don't mind it read on, I cannot speak to the quality of later chapters as I'm not a fan, but it does appear to be going down a power fantasy, light-noblebright/cosy route.
