- StrangestQuarkRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0An interesting story so far, a lot of positives and few real negatives. What stands out to me the most though is how novel the aesthetic of the marsh is for a story of this type. It gives the whole game-lit cum progression fantasy a significantly grittier feel than usual which breaks the usual monotony that comes with the part of the story where you still don't really have other characters to interact with.
My sole issue, if it could be called that, is the written accent of the MC. Its fine with most characters but I'm afraid it's gonna get old real soon if its the MC.
On a technical level I have no issues with the writing, I noticed no grammar type errors and the descriptions and dialogues are both written quite well. - Henrik SaetreRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0The marsh knight is a great read!
At the beginning of the story there is a lot of promises and hints dropped of things to come, and it is very intriguing.
Character:
I really enjoy Leo's character. He shows a lot of character and we get to learn a lot of what he is like, which makes it easy to sympathise and care for him. Excellent characterisation of the mc as a hypochondriac. Hilarious. Worst thing you could have when stranded in a bog.
The swamp itself is also a character, with its freaky, cute, and horrific inhabitants.
Story
Its a great way of doing the Isekai, that feels both believable and entertaining to read.
There is a ton of promise here, and I perceive it is going to be an amazing series.
Grammar
No problems, and it reads smoothly.
Style:
It’s a well written story, with excellent pacing. Just a few chapters, you’re introduced to Hao the main character is isekai’ed why it happens where he goes to and what’s his purpose there.
There is a magical feel to it overall. Fantastical.
One thing I'm looking forward to seeing is how it can deliver on all the promises it has made! - charly.secondaryRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0I really like the flow of this story. The main character feels real to me, on a deeper level than many other stories I have read so far. All the emotional insecurities and character traits are really well thought out and relatable. None of the decisions of the main character seem stupid or rather they match very well to the picture that is being created. Furthermore, I really like where this story is going so far. I´m never able to guess were the story is going next. Not to say, there isn't a red thread to follow throughout the story but the way the author is doing things is very creative, taking a new spin on the "being whisked away to another world" type of story. Although I really like the pace of the story too, I wish there were more chapters for me to read already. Binged the first 20 chapters in one go but the author is updating pretty regularly so I will be expecting more interesting story lines and decisions of the main character in the future.
Just read the story already and make yourself an opinion.
English isn't my first language, so bear with me.
Stay creative and don't overwork yourself, author. We don't want another story that seems to have such an interesting beginning dropped. - jaclieboy76767Royal Road★★★★★ 5.0Read first chapter.. GoodDark. Emotional. I like. Sorry. English not good speaking. Understand better. Read more later. Enjoy. Interesting person. Character. Will tell friends. Keep up good stuff. I like when books real. Real emotion. Heart. Real life. Even in fantasy. Booza booza booza. Keep it moving and rocking. Love love
- rfoxRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5The MC is believable, flawed, and interesting. The setting, magic system, and plot are unique.
One reviewer said they had a hard time with the MC's dialect, but it isn't that bad. The only complaint I have is there is a character that says "erm" in just about every one of their sentences. - JedlakRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5The story is pretty wellthought out, characters are interesting and mc is bealivable. Comedy is amazing and relatable. The only demerit ive noticed is the fluidity of the writing, sometimes its a little hard to read. Authors vocabulary is really unique and made me pause few times after seeing a new word, its just that sometimes its overally complicated and breaks the immersion for me.
- BluetorcRoyal Road★★★ 3.0I like how this book has a different setting than most (swamp) and doesn’t fall into the same cliché as a lot of others of this genre.
It has a fairly interesting MC with believable character flaws. I also appreciate that he doesn’t go from zero to hero in .2 seconds, and the fight scenes are good.
However, as of chapter 20, a large portion of this book has been “character asks AI a question and then gets incomplete or non-response” or other extremely simplistic conversations (This is partially because the AI is quite limited). This dynamic is even more tedious because there are zero other people so far and this is the main way the author is conveying information about the world.
This book is also written in first person, and there is a significant portion of somewhat lackluster internal dialogue as well.
to be fair, the above complaints would be less of an issue if they were interspersed with some actual interpersonal conflicts/conversations. as is, it feels very same-y.
