Description
Due to a terrible incident involving five babies and a vacuum cleaner I'm no longer eligible to be employed. In my defense I didn't know they could fly. Or were hungry for flesh.
Hi there, I'm Shane.
I'm poor, unemployed, and the only thing left to my name is a stuffed goose with one wing. I'd like to say I lost the other wing, but that would be a lie. I just couldn't afford the whole goose.
My story begins the same way most do.
With my death.
I should have seen it coming, after all, my previous employers were special. A 'company' with no name that deals with monsters, policing the border between humanity and the other.
Nobody escaped their net. Until now.
Shane Black died. They killed me and scheduled my body for incineration. A pretty crappy state of affairs if you ask me, but I'm not the kind of person to dwell on the small stuff. The border between our world and the supernatural is a tricky one. There are plenty of places for a person to hide and thrive, so long as the company doesn't find them.
I only have two advantages.
The company doesn't know I'm alive. And I have a stuffed goose.

- 1Royal Road★★★★★ 5.0Early review here, even for my standards, but I did enjoy the first two chapters enough that I wanted to write down a few of my thoughts thus far.
- I'm getting a more light, chaotic feel from this story, especially since death doesn't seem to exist in concrete terms. Perhaps this is due to the interference of a certain goose, who happens to now be alive, and can talk.
- Worldbuilding hasn't happened much so far, but I'm thinking that this is a story taking place in a fictional version of the real world, with a secret agency of magical people keeping the supernatural away from the masses, somewhat like Paranoid Mage, if you've read it.
- Main character is seemingly a pretty chill guy who doesn't do all that much, and is either only special because he has a goose, or is special in ways that aren't explained or implied yet. So far, he seems to be an average guy despite his slight supernatural affinity, thrust into a crazy situation due to working for a shady company that is comfortable with killing their employees.
- I like the premise and tone of the story, and will follow along with this. I will probably update this review once more happens. - 3DDRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Early review but the author has shown enough skills in storytelling and the technical aspects of writing to prompt me to review it now.
Read and enjoy this story if you like quirky humour; a plot that twists and turns in unexpected directions; non-mundane characters and beasties; an MC with a sidekick/familiar(?); a grim/dark background; which is offset by more humour.
I'll modify my review after a few more chapters to reflect more accurately the story as it progresses.
I'm jealous of the author's writing skills.
