The Lucky Cat Dungeon

Description
Ever since I was shoved into this dungeon by that divine feathery jerk, I've been assaulted by rats almost daily. I must have skipped the tutorial because this game menu keeps popping up whenever I want to do something and it keeps wanting me to spawn something called a 'scion'.
Thing is, it might be rats today, but what about after I start upgrading things? Am I going to get attacked by dogs? Boars? Lions? People?
Regardless, I don't feel like designing traps and monster encounters. I've always been a better game player than a game designer.
Speaking of game design, this annoying game menu seems to include loot boxes of all things, but this gives me an idea.
That shiny jerk who put me here wants to Pavlov me into playing his game? Fine I'll play your game, but I'm playing it my way. You think you can create an addictive game loop? I'll show you an addictive game loop.
I'll make the best damn casino this world has ever seen. Those elves anddwarfs won't know what hit em! Besides this game seems to be pretty loose on what qualifies as an encounter.
If anyone tries to get in my way, I can always use the resources and abilities being a dungeon provides me to politely show them the door.
I'll answer to nobody be it the mob or tax collectors!
Don't you know? The House always wins.

- EnrionleeRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0A not so simple story about a dungeon turned casino. The flow is good and the plot is enjoyable. So far there is plenty of cats also. Hurray for neko. The only slow point seems to be the conflict, but it definately seems to be engaging. Without giving too much away, the house always wins.
I would quite enjoy recommending this story to a friend. Keep up the good work. - farsight13Royal Road★★★★★ 5.0There are alot of dungeon core books out there. Usually, it has a lot of doom and gloom. However, unlike other darker books, the lucky cat dungeon, makes it a fun read with comedy and actual interesting characters. Being a casino, it is trying to be a more social type that focuses on character and world building. I am hoping that it continues the slice of life type story with mild adventures and doesn't follow the similar formula of others darker dungeon books (namiley, dark cults and necromancers) .Lucky cat is a gem and it really is worth the read.
- goofygoober1Royal Road★★★★★ 5.0This story is apart of a select few that can utilize large amounts of symbolism without it feeling forced. There's the obvious connection between cats, luck, and gambling of course.
But there's plenty of much more subtle ones, like the fact that the protagonist is guaranteed to win in the end because he's the protagonist but he's also the casino/house by being a dungeon, and "the house always wins."
Later on due to forgetting his own name he gets called Mr. House by his cats, adding to this.
There's also a mention of investment and how it's just another form of gambling with the reference to the South Sea Bubble in the background chapter of Harmony City aswell, and plenty others that I'll leave to other readers to find.
Due to how it's done, there's plenty of optional depth you can bite into, while not forcing casual readers to interact with it if they don't want to. - K1tKatRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0The Lucky Cat Dungeon is a really fun read. Its focuses on the characters (including several cats) more than blue boxes and stats. Well written characters, interesting world building, and business development and management. This story is a must read and if you love cats, coins and (dungeon) cores. What are you waiting for check it out!
- MundilfariRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Really enjoyable story of cats and former adventurers, view through the lens of an excitable moron reincarnated as a dungeon. Can't wait for more! Loving the cats and the world building, and interested in the interpersonal conflict brewing between the factions. Definitely a solid read, 10 out of 10 will stay up too late reading.
- Stephen BRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0A fantastically light hearted look at the life of a dungeon and the people around him, great grammar with no typos, interesting characters, and setting, the idea of a dungeon using gambling to progress is a nicely unique spin on the genre, my only complaint is that there isn't enough of it yet. Can't wait see to read more.
- akkarinRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0This is a great and original take on the usual dungeon core story, definitely worth a read for any dungeon core enjoyer.
The story isn't as focused on the litrpg aspect, although there is a definite sense of progression and expansion.
The dungeon is of the peaceful variety, and is attempting to cooperate with the guilds/city instead of having a power measuring contest. Similar to Dungeon LIfe in this aspect - Jericho RisingRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5Simple, efficient, and a very human way of completing dungeon building and management.
A simply enjoyable story, that while different, lends itself to a lot of the same problems dungeon core stories fall into; those being that danger has less of a meaning when the human element is removed, building a dungeon is like a job, it's repetitive by nature though that doesn't detract from the efforts displayed by the author. Finally the number of interested readers for the dungeon core genre is sadly quite low all things considered, so it's rare to see one make it to the front page and thus overachieve. Sadly this tends to lead to the authors of these great works leaving them incomplete.
Best wishes and i hope the story is one you decide to continue. - wothereRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5With the premise, you'd expect the casino aspect to be shoe-horned, but everything happens organically, events flow naturually into one another.
Besides the casino, a lot is building up in the background, and all the characters are as far as mono-dimensional as it gets. Personalities, goals and morals are plain for all to see, with the story focusing not just on the dungeon, but the people it affects and how they impact each other.
I recommend if you want a soft read that wil likely last a long time.
Also cats. Lots and lots of cats.
