- DavidLingardAuthorRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0We’re dropped into this world pretty abruptly and we have to learn as we go somewhat - which is a style I keep saying I enjoy. The first chapter ends with a delicious cliffhanger that makes me want to read more, learn more and find out all I can about this world.
In the beginning there are also some glimpses into the gruesomeness of this story and world, and they’re well done with a good amount of feeling thrown in.
I love the flashbacks, and speaking of which I love that she just heard someone farting in the toilets so let the mom and kid go first. Pro move!
The author had a very good way of making you want to read the chapter, and I can’t help but fall for it every time! We need to know what’s happening, will Jamie make it through alive?
Style: Love the flashbacks and how they’re presented. It really helps to give backstory to the MC without infodumps
Grammar: as good as it gets really. I haven’t noticed anything, and if there are mistakes (that I haven’t noticed) then they haven’t taken anything from the story.
Story: pretty unique if you ask me. The drop into the system isn’t like anything I’ve read yet, and the foreshadowing of the contest is done just right.
Character: story can’t help but root for Jamie. She’s in a difficult situation, but seeing what she’s been through in the flashbacks is a really good addition to the story - Lucian T. EinarRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Overall:
