- CTKRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0The MC is relatable and you can see how he evolves as the story progresses.
The magic is simple to understand and very similar to how it was supposed to be used at the time IRL, you may get hints of what some of the runes do before the protagonist if you are interested in history/runes overall. I enjoyed the world building, its not far from our own if we had runes at our disposal.
I recommend you to check it out! - FoilHatGuyRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0The MC is active since page one, pushing through the difficulties, which is very nice to see.
The magic is elegant, simple to understand and gives depth to the world! While I didn't get to see the rest of the world yet, the amount of effort that went into creating the politics and population stratification in city and its districts is massive. Love the victorian-styled aesthetics as well!
Overall, go check it out! - GreenthumbRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0This story doesn't waste time getting started. I found it got me hooked from the first chapter. There were no background, world building or lead up. It's more of a learn as you're reading but it's not so obscure or confusing that it hurts immersion.
The main character's motivation is very clear from the get go and is very relatable. His actions and internal dialog support his motivations. He has a learning disability that cause him to be unable to work in his family's business- I hope he will overcome it eventually. The disability is central to most of the problems that the main character encounters - at least indirectly.
Support characters are well written and have realistic motivations of their own. These support characters are written with depth that makes them as relatable as the main character.
Grammer is clear and consise. There have been few to no typos. Reading this work has been entertaining and easy because it has been very reader- friendly; unlike writing this review.
I recommend this story as a light read. There is a building conflict that I find interesting. I appreciate that this conflict looks to be an intellectual conflict so I don't anticipate heavy violence or gore- which some readers will appreciate. So far I have found the story to be entertaining while also being appropriate for younger readers. I wonder if any parents use RR for teaching their kids to read🤔 - KhuttanManRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0At first I was abit reluctant because I typically read litrpgs but I thought this might be a good change of pace. I could tell from the start the writing was very good. The MC grows on you and so do the supporting characters. The story starting off slow and leaving lots untold leaves for some great payoffs later in the story. It really picks up in the later chapters and now I'm up to date I wait in anticipation for what author has in store.
- fascin8meRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0a bit of plot armor, but overall well thought out with causality to his actions and mistakes. The rune system is interesting and i cant wait to see how it builds out. The variety of characters that he interacts with that have their own agendas and plans definitely helps with the realism.
- SmittyberlinRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5Quick review: one of the most adicting stories I read on RR so far. The only bad thing about it, is that I cant binge read it.
The main character is well balanced from a emotional standpoint and his actions are relateable. His personality is in the darker or maybe more on the pragmatic side. Powerwise (currently at chapter 32) he is quite weak and inexperiences but I think there is greatness on the horizon :D. So no OP main character whose biggest concern is which enemy to take out first.
Side characters are destincable and have different motivations and personalities. This makes it easy to follow along when the main character interacts with them.
The world building is very well done. Exposition doesnt feel forced and comes quite natural and in slow dosage. At this stage in the novel I feel like I know enough to keep up with things while there are still mysteries to uncover which the reader does in real time together with the main character.
Grammarwise I cant find any mistakes and the choice of words feels natural without being too predictable. That being said, im not a native english speaker.
Overall this is definately worth a read.
I will try to keep this review up to date.
