- B.C. FaJohnRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0This author is building up an incredibly interesting story and environment. As a few others have said, it has a major star wars vibe and that is not a bad thing in the slightest. In fact, I feel its similarities really make the differences between the comparisons pop.
Where the author introduces magic is where it really pops, though. That is when this galactic world becomes their own, and begins to turn into a unique twist. I thoroughly enjoyed this story, and cannot wait to continue reading! - nymaxRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5So i did like the story, grammatik wise, i found nothing glaring so i don't care about some small mistakes.
Story and style are rather good, what I find a problem with are the charakters.
The pilot. How do they trust him that fast? He comes out of nowhere and is for some reason the best pilot of the alliance? And there is no suspicion whatsoever. John on the other hand is believable and rather well written.
The most glaring logic loophole is when they fight a capital ship. WHY IS A CAPITAL SHIP ALONE FIGHTING PIRATES? that's not what capital ships are for.
i might sound a bit mean, but as long as you aren't that logic and detail oriented (Or got asced to point out flaws and give a review in a review spaw, than you wouldn't really notice most things). - NSReissRoyal Road★★★★ 4.0To be honest, the story has a lot of plot holes. I found it hard to get past the beginning. The grammar is fine, although there's a lot of info-dumping, and the prose is a choppy and overbearing (there's a lot of telling instead of showing). The choppyness gets slightly better later on. Still, if you can get past the beginning, the action sequences are fun and it is reminescent of the Gundam anime (A character named Char? heh).
- jpat1988Royal Road★ 0.5I am not a fan of books with a ton of POV switches and the very first chapter is a chapter from the viewpoint of someone other than the MC. Sometimes POV switches work. But for me at least I need to be drawn into the story a bit before you start to swap around. This one failed pretty hard right off the bat.
