Description

Derrin's Hollow, a once mostly peaceful farming town, is attacked by a beast it cannot beat. Emissaries of The Concord of Blades, the guild that rules over the Accorded Lands, swoop in to save the day. They'll stay to protect the village, for a price.

Marrick Halveth was a farmers son with dreams of becoming a wayfinder, explorers of the Unknown. All that was ripped away from him when he was conscripted into the Concord of Blades military, forcing him to do thier bidding. Stripped of his freedom, Marrick begrudgingly attends the military academy in Hothstead, a snowy mountain city in the Accorded Lands, where he finds that he's actually pretty good at this whole monster killing thing.

On his first mission, Marrick and his team are ambushed by a monster they can't handle. Marrick narrowly escapes by accident, falling deep into a system of tunnels, where he finds a far worse monster that has been sleeping for ages. The Keeper.

Knowing this is the end, Marrick prepares for the inevitable, only to be given a power that has been hidden away from humanity, possessed partially by monsters, magic.

Fearing how the guild will react to this new found power, Marrick must find a way to hide it or potentially be branded a monster himself.
