Description
What good does saving the world do if it is left a barren waste?
Five years have passed since strange portals to another reality opened up all around Earth. They lead to Asphodel, a world of fantasy and magic, but also great dangers. However, the only ones who go through them are society's rejects. The reason for that is simple: There is no coming back to Earth. Asphodel is a haven for all those who felt shunned by their home world.
Its inhabitants don't know it yet, but a terrible fate looms over Asphodel. The Golden Scourge is coming, with the sole objective of purging the world from all life. They only have a year of peace left to enjoy before the end.
Nil's goal was to stop that fate, but they have forgotten it. In fact, they have forgotten everything, from their past to their reasons for being there. If the people of Asphodel hope to stand a chance against destruction, Nil must remember their identity, become stronger and gather a group of dependable allies. Otherwise, their world is doomed.
The journey will not be easy. There are those who yearn for the world's ruin, and their schemes to weaken it before the Chosen Day have already been set into motion. Their agents have infiltrated the courts of the Four Kings, and their poison has already begun to take effect. The situation is dire, and not every conflict can be solved with raw strength.
What to expect:
- A tight-knit cast of misfits that develop and travel together.
- A focus on the mysteries surrounding the lead and the world.
- An RPG-like system of classes and skills with gradual progression.

- Abraham-DeWittRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Overall: I thought that The Justice of the Fallen was a really good LitRPG that used the elements of the genre well and explored the world in an interesting way. This is a part of a review swap for up to Chapter 5, but I had to read to the end of Chapter 6 because Chapter 5 ended on such a good cliff hanger.
Style: The style of the story is pretty good. I had no issues with the writing, and I thought that the RPG elements were integrated very competently. I liked that the RPG elements were utilized early, though they never overstayed their welcome. Just enough of the System was shown to get the information across to the reader.
Story: The story as far as I have read is a typical LitRPG in an Academy setting, and I think that's great. I've always really liked the "Academy" setting; it allows for a controlled and relatively safe environment for the characters to learn while also setting up the dangers of the outside world, which the characters will eventually have to face. I can tell that this story will differentiate itself with the "Peacemonger" aspect of the main character.
Grammar: There were no issues as far as I could see. The use of the gender-neutral "they" to describe the main character can occasionally lead to sentences being confusing, but that's just a part of the stylistic choice. I think the story could be improved by making it clear more when "they" refers to the main character and when "they" refers to the whole group traveling with the main character.
Character: I haven't yet read particularly far into the story, so I haven't really seen much of the characters. The main character has amnesia, and most of the other characters don't interact with the main character for long. I have liked what I've seen from the characterization of the staff at the Academy. As far as I've read in the story, there isn't much characterization, but I didn't expect much characterization from the first six chapters of a LitRPG. - EldesRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0The Justice of The Fallen, in the chapters I've read so far, is an eye-catching fantasy with elements of post-apocalypse in the main character's memories, expertly weaving lore into the story through systems and words. The main character is an amnesiac, bits of their memories sprinkled in and lore about who they once were catching the eye and inducing great theories.
The side characters are already wonderfully loveable in their own right, despite the little interaction so far- the system allows for them to be shown with at least their barest traits, skills they have that allow one to ponder their ideals, morals, aspirations and attitudes.
In regards to the skill system itself, it's clear, concise, and any questions one has about a skill is explained sooner rather than later (which is wonderfully appreciated). Each skill allows for people to be personified further through them, and I'm looking forward to how each skill can be used and/or exploited.
There are little to no grammar errors, and the style, while line-break-heavy, conveys the story and its pace in such a way that it perfectly fits.
Ultimately, this story has already become something I'm more than willing to invest time and interest into, and I'm certain it will return with a great deal of entertainment and emotion into my life. In my opinion, this may be one of the less-recognized stories on Royal Road that has the greatest potential to achieve critical acclaim. You already have mine, feel free to take my soul with it.
So you, yes, you, author, are 100% deserving of this perfect score.
Well done, because I would gladly (and rapidly) buy this book (if I actually had money). - WolfswordRoyal Road★★★★ 4.0I'm really enjoying the story so far, and looking forward to future chapters. It has the elements I would expect to find - a system, skills, portals and a progression path.
The MC has, intentionally (?), forgotten who they are and are discovering the world they have found themself in. They don't appear OP out the gate, and they have an interesting opening Trait that has me curious how the author is going to approach the standard story mechanics in the fiction.
I appreciated that the writing itself is solid, and while I'm sure there will be tweaking the author could do it wasn't immersion breaking.
This is my first review, so hope it's ok.
