The Internet Cultivator (Dead)

Description
Lan Jin was brought into a new world because of faulty software. Instead of downloading a new browser as he intended, he got magically blown through a wormhole and into a part of reality so far away that even the laws of nature changed. What's more, he brought the internet with him!How will Lan Jin navigate this mysterious, new and fantastical world? Will he be swallowed up by cultivators and vicious beasts or will he somehow manage to bumble his way through life using a quick search of the internet?
Welcome to a world where survival of the fittest is the only absolute law and everything else comes in second place.
(AN: This is intended to be a longer story so some of tags may not be immediately relevant. In addition, while I will be avoiding actual sexual content there will be explicit nudity in the story and implicit sexual activity of a mature nature. Notice the Grimdark tag; if you don't want to hear about mature sexual content, you may want to avoid this story.)
(P.S. I am in the process of looking for a good artist to commission a nice cover for my work. I had a short list, but the first artist fell through and the second one got banned from the service I was using for fraud. If anyone knows someone who can do xianxia artwork, please let me know. XD)

- 1SamRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0I already wrote such a nice review but forgot to remove my VPN and now it's gone. So here we go again.
It's a good story so far. The author is currently on hiatus so there is that as a down side but it's still an interesting read. 1/16/21
The Character is OP in the sense that they have lots of knowledge, however they don't have a lot of actionable power to do what ever they want. That is where the progression and probablely the character building will be. As of now I have read to chapter 27 as that is what has been released.
I can confidently say to give this story a try. - XcelerateRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0This story is shaping up pretty well, the characters are distinct and react believably (This is actually rather hard to pull off). Still pretty early, but def worth keeping an eye on.)
Only a couple typos, likely the spell check software confusing words during the edit. Pacing also seems just right. - akvandorRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0I absolutely love the flow of this novel! The character isn't a complete dickhead young master and isn't OP.
The explanations regarding the dao/xianxia elements are great and make sense. Definitely recommend this and I'm looking forward to more chapters!
Reviews must be at least 50 words long and im not an author. - Alexander BivensRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0A very solid xianxia so far. Is it breaking the mold? No. Is it exploring new grounds no one has tread before? No. Does it need to? No. I'm giving it 5 stars to shout out all my xianxia lovers and to annoy royal road's resident stick-up-ass community of harem haters. If you like xianxia, you will like this story. If you don't like xianxia, well, why are you even reading this in the first place?
- Psyren1596Royal Road★★★★★ 5.0This is an interesting read. To be honest, it's a somewhat novel and at the same time irritating experience watching the MC stubble his way through a typical cultivation world with all the snobbish etiquette, culture and enlightenment. You would think that the MC would have more common sense based on his internet access, but I also understand that it's still early days and he still needs to come to terms with his new reality.
Overall an entertaining story, would definitely recommend. - AzranovaRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0I think this story has a lot going for it, and the top reviews don't particularly do it justice. If nothing else, it was enough to keep me hooked reading until 5AM when I had classes the next day, so clearly something was done right.
Grammar
There are only a few minor issues, and I only really notice them most of the time due to being a bit of a stickler in regards to grammar as a whole. In general, the average reader won't have any issues in regards to the grammar.
Story
The concept is fairly simple: The MC is thrown into a xianxia world by a strange browser he downloaded, which seems to have almost omniscient information on the universe as a whole. The difficulty is in accessing the specific information you're looking for without getting flooded by quite literally trillions of search results. The MC doesn't immediately take to the whole cultivation thing, and doesn't even know what a cultivator is upon arriving. The first 27 chapters are definitely fairly slow, but it does seem to be picking up a little.
He discovers a secondary source of information via the Omega browser, a divination technique known as "Heaven's Gaze" which is rather simple to use and incredibly helpful, but with a "cost" associated with using it. The cost is shown to, if nothing else, cause damage to his soul each time he uses it (difficult to heal, though not overly crippling in small amounts and seems to mend itself over time). It's easy to view this as being overpowered, but in general he really hasn't asked it all that crazy of information. In the general scheme of the universe, the fact that it got him from being a non-cultivator to the first step on that journey is not all that world shattering. Plus, there might be additional costs associated with it that simply haven't been revealed yet.
Overall, I think the story is pretty decent. Sure, there are a few small issues, but ultimately the story is in its early stages still.
Style
I really enjoy the style, it's probably one of the factors t - BalipsolRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0A thoughtfully written story, with humor and a subtle hint of darkness. This story captured my interest and is definitely on track to being a great story. The MC is a fun and relatable character with the skills appropriate to his age. World building has been subtle and with an undertone of the darkness lurking in such a world.
- Zenopath (AEV)Royal Road★★★★★ 4.5Look, I'm not going to lie, this novel isn't perfect. It's actually a bit silly. Not slapstick silly, more like just a general absurdity of the situation and the ease at which the MC uses his overpowered abilities to quickly improve while being generally clueless about how reckless he is being. But that may be the point... I don't think it's meant to be taken seriously.
I am really enjoying reading this. The key is to have the right mindset, this isn't A serious cultivation novel, and the author knows that. It's tongue in cheek, though the characters take themselves seriously, the reader clearly isn't meant to. A lot of this novel is just people reacting to the strange things the MC does. As a foreigner (isekai'd non-asian from modern world) he keeps making people around him react in amusing ways. Also he calls out cultivation novel tropes. I laughed when he checked crime rates... Of course A cultivator world would be a terrible place to live if you think about it.
You have to use suspension of disbelief to enjoy this, and you have to accept it as a subtle comedy, if you are expecting A serious cultivation novel, you will be disappointed. Half A star off because no fight scene yet... Might be a little too slow paced. But this novel is one of few on site that is genuinely amusing to read, so I might give that half star back if author pulls off a good first fight.
P.S. thinking about it I'm no longer sure Satire is the right word. It is a novel that tries to be amusing, pokes fun at cultivation novel tropes, like for example it turns out having good spiritual sense can be mistaken for being a peeping tom because u can use it for seeing underneath women's clothing. That's a deliberate joke. Its a disservice to author to think otherwise. But is it satire or parody? Or is it just dark humor? In some sense this novel is probably like Guardians of Galaxy; meant to be legit superhero movie while also not taking itself seriously. Simularly I do think this is a legit cultivat - DilshadRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5Even tho I am not a fan of how clueless he is about literally everything related to the cultivation world, but I love how the world-building is going and I cant wait to see how everything evolves. just filling out the word count for the review. just filling out the word count for the review. just filling out the word count for the review. just filling out the word count for the review. just filling out the word count for the review. just filling out the word count for the review. just filling out the word count for the review. just filling out the word count for the review. just filling out the word count for the review. just filling out the word count for the review. just filling out the word count for the review. just filling out the word count for the review.
- DraugluirRoyal Road★★★★ 4.0Nice cultivation isekai that I can't wait to read more of!
The MC has a system-like internet connection with a near infinite amount of information in his head, but no context or prior knowledge. Will be interesting to see how much trouble it will get him into, and just how OP information is in this world.
