I remember the history books.

“Humanity defeated the demons that invaded Earth 500 years ago.”

“Magic was the power that guaranteed this victory.”

But that’s not true.

There’s a past that has been erased.

A time I lived through.

A time when humanity was on the brink of extinction, facing something far worse than the records dared to tell.

It’s been a long time. My memories are failing.

My sanity too.

This may be my last entry.

If this book disappears, remember one thing:

It wasn’t the demons that became humanity’s greatest fear.

It was me.

The story I’m about to tell follows a man who, one day, became what the world feared most…

and yet, was responsible for bringing a new light to the world.

Alongside him were people I knew.

Many of them died before my eyes.

This truth will be told from their point of view.

...And perhaps from mine.

Just perhaps.

Hi, I decided to leave a review. I’ve only read the first chapter so far. What immediately put me off? The fact that the very first paragraph reveals that the creatures were once human. Also, the girl looks human, but the text immediately tells us she’s a demon.
The meeting with the man in the library is described as if they are seeing each other for the first time, yet it turns out they’ve known each other for a long time. The author then seems surprised by her behavior toward him—but if they are long-time acquaintances, this would be a daily occurrence. If this were rewritten, it could turn into something good. For now, it just feels like a sequence of actions.
