Description

Among the trillions who tune in daily to the Universal Games, no one expected a lowly, unknown NPC to shake the system to its core.

In an expansive, open-world MMORPG where elite Hunters chase glory, power, and arcane secrets, viewers across the galaxy watch in awe. Hunters are feared, revered, and unrestricted true players in a system built for entertainment and domination.

Xaz doesn’t even know he’s part of the Game.

Raised as the heir to a simple merchant family, his memories of Earth are locked away, sealed by a system that sees him as nothing more than background flavor, a non-player character meant to make the world feel real.

But when he crosses paths with Stella, the Game’s most realistic artificial intelligence, everything changes. Xaz uncovers a shocking truth: the NPCs are real people, abducted and memory-wiped, their lives twisted into digital performances.

And he’s about to become their reckoning.

He was never meant to level up.

He was meant to stay silent.

Instead… he became the Hunter Killer.

What to expect:

- LitRPG with a weak-to-strong progression

- Slow burn opening that ramps into high-stakes action

- Skill-based class system with evolving spells and mechanics

- Spellcaster MC focused on DoTs, some direct damage, with a single skeletal minion

- Gritty moments and graphic violence (not overly gruesome)

- Strong character development and party dynamics

- 3k–5k word chapters

    so where to begin?
I guess spoiler warning, don't read this before at least 150 chapters in, I've just finished reading chapter 183 and plan to keep reading both this book and any sequels.
    ok
    characters:
ZAS aka the main character (mc)
mc is good, as in DND lawful good. he doesn't cheat or steal. hell he has morality issues with killing for the entire book, despite the monsters being clearly evil in multiple ways.
this is a good thing as so many other books so quickly thru away any sense of realism when their character goes from an upstanding citizen to mass murder before breakfast.
the MC actually stops and evaluates whether he has the right or wrong mind set for the task ahead.
he is also human... frustratingly human. he forgets constantly options he has both before and during life or death struggles.
you may have seen a few of my comments as the series progresses of me asking why he makes the suboptimal choice or did not simply do the obvious.
well it obvious to me as I sit here reading, but the mc has his own way of fighting and decision making and its the best thing about them.
    Tellos:
Tellos in any other fiction would have been the girlfriend. a beautiful elf girl happy to follow the mc around because he is the one.
I like his introduction the best, a forgetful one of character that was locked to the ship, never to be seen again... then, hi, i'm here, and I want to kill monsters.
from that point on we have the beginning of a real friendship that was actually earned mutually over the course of the quest.
he could have easily been a one shot character that tagged along for 1 or 2 side quests then died horribly to give the mc motivation.
instead we have a guy who has his own past, his own way of thinking and is not just fan service with a bow.
I am also kind of glad that he didn't become an undead elf as that spot on the team is already fulfilled.
    Ripley:
the undead minion that is so much more than a disposable pawn.
Ripley is probably the most underutilized char

Just picked this and read through to Chapter 40 today. In general the writing is of good quality and the author uses decent grammar.  Nice world building. The main character is a nice guy and I like his AI companiona lot,, though they get OP fast ( I didn't mark down for that as the summary said to expect it). Lots of skills and abilities discussion, which I quite like, though it does dominate the story at times. Definitely worth a read and a competent novel so far.
So my feedback to the author......I would personally liked to have seen more development of Stella's skills, it felt a bit like they were just a glorified UI that didn't contribute that much to their success. Then the OP pet was a bit too much for me and I felt it took page time away from the stars and their development.  The villains are very villainous and the good guys very nice, and that's okay if you are aiming for that, but some grey area can be fun too.

So far, the reading has been enjoyable. I really only have one gripe with the story so far, and it is that it feels like most of the things keeping the mc afloat has been given out for free with no effort involved. If you read, you'll see what I mean (if I give the examples that made me write this I think it'd spoil the plot so far). If it were one instance, well whatever I think getting an above average freebie once or twice is ok to get the story rolling. But feels like instead of once or twice total, it's once or twice a chapter. If it is just a beginning thing and it isn't relevant later, I'll change to 5 stars.

An OP MC that seems to have a hidden luck modifier of at least 10x and additionally the ability to bend time since the first 24 hours "in game" lasted closer to 3 days. Meanwhile the time dialation is reversed during fights.
I also suspect that the MC is secretly evil... or a huge idiot, as he tends to just stand and watch as his companion writhe in agony as they die from wounds that the MC could have easily healed.
Finally, the AI Assistant is quite unhelpful.
Not surprising since it's a poodle of all things. Princess Doughnut disapproves.

The MC has EVERYTHING spoon fed to them in such a short period of time that it loses all value, getting random system bonuses for basically tying his shoes, and his paimon-esque companion is insufferable, straight up bullying the MC for even trying to make a joke, about a literal unliving golem, any growth or exploration is completely negated by his AI companion basically wiki'ing everything for them as well as acting as a forced morality guideline leading to a very black and white story with a boring lawful good main character who does his best with the power of overwhelming plot armor and luck, the main character literally gets an OP broken growth skill at level 1, spends a literal paragraph sympathizing with his AI and suddenly THATS enough for them to "sync" so we'll that his broken growth skill nearly doubles in strength. This is still at level 1 before its even been used. There's just too much handholding and basically no room for character growth, the main character feels whipped and spineless while also somehow being this "bastion of righteousness"? Give me a break
