Community Rating
Description
When Zalan falls asleep to escape the pain of his relationship with his mother, he awakens in a vivid fantasy world teeming with Elementals, deadly monsters, and world-spanning adventure. He can even work to wield the power of lightning, itself. Confused about how he arrived in this strange new land, Zalan reluctantly joins forces with a guide, Rep, who promises to help him find an Artifact to return home: The Homeseeker.
Zalan and his new companion must master the art of battle and their unique Elemental Abilities to survive against increasingly deadly foes. As his growing group quests to a foreboding castle to retrieve the Artifact from a ferocious dragon, their clashing personalities and fighting tactics are put to the test. Some want to participate in glorious combat, others want to use their Elemental Abilities to their fullest extent. Zalan really just wants to go home.
Along the way, Zalan begins to question if this adventure is just an elaborate dream... or if it's his new reality. As Zalan begins to embrace this new world of wonder, he's given the opportunity to take on a role as an adventuring hero, but doing so will mean letting go of his home forever—assuming he's not consumed by the dark secrets he's tried to bury, first.

- AsdfWarriorRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Great story! Looking forward to what happens next, and the monsters are actually interesting. The author is very descriptive and doesn't seem to fall into the basic tropes of other fantasy stories. As a person who works in tech, I relate a lot to Zalan's struggles, which makes his story much more believable. Very bigly done
- Cecilia28Royal Road★★★★★ 5.0I am really enjoying this story. I look forward to each chapter. I find myself checking each time, even if it means I can only read one chapter at a time.
It’s an intriguing world, somewhat familiar but with enough to differentiate it. The uncertainty over whether it is real or just a dream is a very clever undercurrent. - Five6212Royal Road★★★★★ 5.0The style of writing N.T uses is simple and straightforward, so you won’t find yourself getting lost in unusual big grammars and words that would make your head go boom. At least, mine didn’t. And if something so simply written can convey such great emotions, then what other score could it be worthy of if not a full 5?
The Grammar goes hand in hand with style for me. Not much to distract you from the story, but since I’m not a grammar nerd, I’ll just keep my mouth shut about this. At least when I was reading I did not come across any that took me out of the story, so if you’re not not picky like me you’ll probably not be any distracted too.
Now here, here is the real deal. The story follows Zalan as he wakes up in a new world and he tries to find a way back home. There’s no time wasting here. Right from the first chapter we are dumped into the action, and it does not relent from there on. Every chapter onwards Zalan is learning something (we are learning with him), or fighting something (I think we also fight cockroaches, so we’re doing that with him too 😭). It has a pretty solid and gripping plot, and it’s not devoid of fantastical beasts such as the Elementals. Give it a shot, you’ll enjoy it just like I did.
Then the characters, need I say more? A story can only be gripping if the characters are good, and in the homeseeker the characters are just that. You’ll love Rep, he’s shaping out to be everyone’s favorite.
Well, with that out of the way, you can stop shuffling through reviews after you’ve come across mine and go read the story. You’re here to read fiction not reviews!!! - Kia LeepRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Overall: 5/5
Overall, this story moves at a fast pace, is stuffed with action and adventure, and has a delightful side cast that helps get you invested in the story. If the first chapter puts you off because it's slower, darker, and set in the real world, at least give the story until Chapter 2: That's where the fun begins.
Style: 5/5
The prose is written in a direct, simple style, which makes it easy to read. Sometimes dialogue tags can get a bit too verbose and distracting, but otherwise the straight-forward prose helps keep the story moving at a fast pace.
Story: 5/5
There's tons of action, right from the start. I love stories that dump the MC into a dire situation, which certainly happens with Zalan the moment he portals into the new world. The worldbuilding itself is also fun, and I especially enjoy how the LitRPG elements are displayed (tattoos rather than a visual interface) and how Elemental Trials are used to gain elemental powers and abilities.
Grammar: 5/5
Similar to the over-abundance of creative dialogue tags, grammar around dialogue can sometimes spout some typos. However these are minor and easily ignored, and overall the level of grammar skills displayed in Homeseeker are above the RR standard.
Character Score: 5/5
Zalan is clearly a complex MC with some issues back home which shadow him into the new world. Try not to be put off by his motive to return home (as the name of the book implies) as there's plenty of action and mystery along the way. Also, Rep is a fantastic side character, somehow balancing an endearing optimistic naivety with clear indications that he's hiding something from Zalan and the readers. Rep is a delight in every scene he's in. - MegapoozRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Grammar. Grammar, plays a massive role in whether I'll continue reading a story or not. Usually, when you read a story you find small mistakes as you read. It's expected, no one can catch all the mistakes. Yet somehow, I don't think I ever saw an spelling error. Respect
Zalin's and Rep's character arcs are really interesting. Especially Zalin's ups and downs. Although, I will say, Zarin is a little.. dense something; he's not exactly the sharpest tool in the shed
The pacing of this story is really well... paced. I haven't felt like the story was ever too slow or too fast, just right. So much so that I read the first 3 books in 2 days! (I bindged it) I never felt like I was forcing myself to read.
Finally, plot. The plot at some point can be seen before they even happen, a mile before they happen. But I find that as breath of fresh air. I've been reading a story that had plot twist after plot twist after plot twist. Finding myself surprised in tandem with its characters. And granted, it was very intriguing, still is, but I also find the fact that you can see what's going to happen interesting in its own way. I think what played in me enjoying the Homeseeker, was the fact I knew something that the characters didn't. I don't know the last time I knew so much (sorry author), and I found that omniscience, new and interesting.
Seeing what the characters do as they slowly learned more and more as the story progresses, learing something I already knew was cool. - spghettiMasterRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0I've been following NTLazer's short stories for a while and I'm so excited for him to finally release a full length LitRPG book! The book has been great so far and it'll keep you begging for the next chapter.
Style: Like all of his stories, this book has that classes NTLazer style. It's full of charm, wit and heart. A great fantasy story that is presented in a way where you can really connect with the character and it's really easy to read and understand what's going on. No overly convoluted plot or anything distracting like you get in a lot of other stories.
Story: Captures your attention from the first page and keeps you wanting to come back for more. Plot is exciting and smoothly transitions from one part to the next. No weird cuts or dialogue that feels like it doesn't belong. All the interactions are organic and none of the story feels forced. Actions sequences are so well done and really make you feel like you're right there in the story.
Grammar: Writing is good, no issues with grammar.
Character Score: Every character feels fresh and is written really well. My personal favorite is Rep, just love the character and how they interact with the other characters in the story especially Zalan.
Overall this is a wonderful story that'll have you falling in love with NTLazer as a writer and constantly keeping you waiting for the next chapter to come out. - zipper777Royal Road★★★★★ 5.0loved this series! hooks you right in and gripping till the end. Will be following for more in the future! The storyline is unique creative and fresh. Consistent throughout all parts and I found it refreshing.
Overall I was shocked to learn this was free for how good it is. I hope others will take advantage. - philipneri30Royal Road★★★★★ 5.0So, I've been reading this book, and it's been awsome so far. The writing style is super engaging, and I've been totally absorbed in the story. the plot keeps me guessing. I'm seriously impressed with how he brings everything together. Can't wait to see how it all ends! All I really want to say is that the book is epic the authors epic and i cant wait to read the rest. This guys the real deal his writing is awsome and I think everyone should read it. I'm definitely getting me sister to read this.
- ZBandit55Royal Road★★★★★ 4.5I’ve read everything available at the time of this post which so far is up to chapter 13.
I saw a post on TikTok and checked the comments to find this author saying the full story was on here, and after watching the video I was hooked. I love how the characters interact with each other, and how well thought out the story has been so far with established lore of the world. Especially with how the MC is confused and startled by the changes around him, and so far the only thing to complain about is that I can’t read more right now! - oxygen5011Royal Road★★★ 2.5Characters are real, definitely three dimensional but story telling and adventure are casual, nothing great.
They are casually going to hunt a dragon without a proper plan. It gives the vibe "let's hunt a dragon! Yaay". The entire ordeal looks like generic quest generator without depth and uniqueness.
The story fails to deliver fighting scenes with reality. It's hard to visualize them in epic battle due to their initial approach to monsters, "Oh, there is a monster there, let's fight it". They defeated a powerful monster, got injured, almost died but all MC thinking about was the permission to call a dude with his nickname.
I was torn between keep going and quiting but couldn't find the excitement and immersion to push me forward. It's potential but it's potential has to be harnessed.
