The Greywash consumes the Wasteland (Fallout: New Vegas)
Community Rating
Description
The greatest scientific mind this world has ever seen. Mwahaha
A genius that has achieved technorganic immortality.
A single man that could be an army, an empire, all on his own. One that would travel the world and heal disease, end famine, and stop wars.
Or at least that was the plan. It was carelessness that caused his accidental dimensional teleportation across time and space to a world worse than any he could have ever imagined.
Now it was time for this scientist-turned-nanite swarm to fix a world he is uniquely qualified for.

This is a novel based on an idea I had for Fallout: New Vegas. The idea was basically what really happens in the independent ending. Based on everything in the game, it seems like Vegas kinda becomes an anarchic mess for a bit. However, the city ends up after 5, 10, or even 20 years is solely decided by the realm of fan fiction. So here is my take on that taken to a little bit of an extreme.

- Dead_GodRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0If you are like me and played so much fallout that you cannot play it anymore without 1000+ mod installed and play it every year at least once than this story is surely for you.
You need to know the lore of fallout new vegas at least on the surface to connect with the locations and quests in this story.
To the MC, imagine a super scientist with the lovely naivity of dr. who (David Tennant/Matt Smith), the moral compass and humor of Dead Pool turned himself into a T-3000 from Terminator Genisys with a giga chad body and gets thrown into the world of fallout new vegas. Is he ultra OP? Yes. Could he conquer everthing in the first chapter? Yes. Could he destroy everthing in minutes? Yes. BUUUUT he doesn't because he is a lovely funny being with strong morals and a heart of gold.
So far very light read no grim dark here for a change. - InvokeTheNobleRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0I'm reviewing this fan fiction at 16 chapters. Its A nice idea of what happens when someone with no knowledge of the world ends up in it, with nanites. It will be interesting to see how far this story goes, hope the author continues this and we get to see all there wonderful ideas.

It very quickly just becomes a character drama with the MC riding around basically doing side-quests instead of actually properly using his nanites.
I could also go on about how inefficient and inept the MC is with his basically cheating nanite swarm but I'll only bring up some small examples later, just know the MC is incredibly uncreative, inefficient, and unambitious with his use of the nanite swarm.
Spoilers:
The current plotline with the MC taking over the couriers job is a complete waste of time, because if the MC really wished they could make an army of his own robots, or just use his overwhelming digital prowess to reprogram all the securitrons and just manually update them.
All this plotline seems to do is to introduce new characters/locations, which would be fine, if the MC didn't need to do any of that, he can just find some key locations, start mining resources, and develop a self-sustaining city.
Also another issue, there is no actual concern about the MC's safety, and the MC displays even more obtuse and unnecessary methods to take out his enemies, he made napalm drones yet he could near effortlessly make railguns or any other overwhelmingly overpowered weapons, or do anything else more effective, sure it worked but you could've resolved the deathclaws in basically a paragraph with some prior weapon setup, because they aren't a threat, nothing seems to be right now to the MC.
What I really would recommended if you hadn't already started making this story is fix the general idea of the story. Focus more on societal uplift/fixing, maybe bring aliens/more conflict in. Start with earth arc where the MC slowly rebuilds what he can (limit his power as well, its essentially just a deus ex machina, and the only reason he hasn't completely rebuilt new vegas is because he is extremely distracted/wasteful/inefficient/uncreative with his nanites).
Earth arc could include the MC uncovered ne
