- noblewolfRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0A masterwork on this site, suprised the hell out of me how engrossed I became reading this. Everything you'd expect of Paul in a backwards world like westeros but with masterful writing in such a way that it doesn't get boring. The only complaint I have is the chapters are too short and if I'm being honest they aren't. A lot of authors on this site with similar tropes should take inspiration from how the author goes about this novel. This novel needs to be on the top ten of this site at least compared to the what it has up there, and could lead to a good influence to creators on this site to draw inspiration and ideas from especially in how to keep stories interesting and avoid what usually happens with stories on this site especially the longer the go on for. I especially like the fact that I don't even have a favourite character or one that I dislike, their all written to be interesting in their own way, while I'll admit Aemond is cool I like the different angles the author directs us through and always look forward to the pov of other characters interested to see their take on the events that are transpiring and the actions within the scope of the story.
- jacob73Royal Road★★★★★ 5.0I rarely write reviews, but I can't help giving this story it's props in hopes that it gets the attention it deserves. The prose is extremely well written, I have yet to spot any glaring grammatical or spelling errors, and the plot is well thought out thus far.
While this story may not be the friendliest to someone 100% lacking any context of Dune and House of the Dragon due to the terminology used, I have had little issue with only a surface-level familiarity with the two. I would say some basic ASOIAF knowledge is more valuable than Dune in this case. There is a fairly significant focus on the wide-ranging politics of Westeros and the Seven Kingdoms, and their interaction with Essos. While there has been some action so far, it has taken a backseat in favor of subterfuge, planning, and laying a strong foundation. As of this chapter, you can feel the tension of a stage set for the explosive action to come.
I absolutely recommend this to anyone who wants a far-reaching story intertwined in the rich world of ASOIAF, with realistic and fleshed out characters, impeccable writing, and a plot that keeps all the ripples and politics in its eyes. - MuadRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0I mean this is just brilliant. The writing, the scope! This is an OP done right, writing him mainly from others' perspective. My only minor complaint is that Muaddib in the Dune books wasnt so cruel. But that's a minor criticism, I like the protagonist Aemond a lot!
Can't wait for the next chapter. - VviikkiinnggRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Phenomenal, underrated, will be sharing. I would keep it this brief but there is a 50 word requirement. Please read this if you see the book and give it a shot. Wonderfully written and balancing both worlds delicately. Couldn't praise it enough and will look forward to what is to come :]
- Zombie UnicorneRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Serously, I am awestruck at how good this fan-fiction is. In short it's phenomenal and do try it out.
There is plenty of intrigue, back-door dealings, political maneuverings, tactics, strategy and plain old fashion action that one would expect from Dune and ASoIaF.
I had hesisrance in trying this story out as the notion of combining two stories together felt foreign to me, even though I've read plenty of fanfictions before and I regret it took me a while but when I did, I binge through the story, even staying up late just to get to another chapter.
I thank and applaud the author for the experience. - blusurfurRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Truly a gem of a book that has some of the best writing ive read on RR. Legit beats many of these other popular works that get peddled on here. And i hope it continues further. The author nails the mix of Paul/Aemond down to a tee. Especially the abilities that have been displayed so far.
- calvis bloodbornRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0It's pretty good. I like the direction so far, and I hope to see where the story goes. The grammar and pacing are pretty good so far. I hope for more soon.
I have to write more, so that is what I'm doing in this second paragraph. Hopefully, this is enough. - TheNameOfTheWindRoyal Road★★★★ 3.5The story starts great, but the flow of the story leaves something to be desired.
In the start of the story, we see things from the Main Character perspective, and the everything is 10/10, then we start seing from other peoples perspective, and that's nice enough, but we never return to the MC perspective. The story stops flowing naturally without a leading character, everything just becomes: and then this happened, and then this happened, and then this happened. It is, in the start of the story, very captivating to read the MC thoughts, ambitions, dreams and emotions, that captivating feeling is what makes the reader keep reading. Without understanding what the MC is thinking and doing, your just going from line to line thinking: and then this happened, and then that happened. It's a little bit like reading a history book written in poems and riddles. Still a great story, just not that captivating without understanding what the MC is doing.
I can't give full score in CHARACTER, when I don't understand what the MC is even thinking or doing, but because of the many many different perspectives, we do learn a lot about other characters.
I think my biggest personal problem with the story is the STYLE. Some people love this kind of style where we shift from character to character constantly, i don't. It can be catchy if the MC can be understood through other characters eyes, then the story will flow naturally, here it doesn't. - maertsoiRoyal Road★★ 2.0I read the reviews, saw ASOIAF + dune, and thought it would be awesome. It's really not. I didn't expect this to be so overhyped. The first ten chapters were pretty good - references and strange dreams about the Dune-verse, and then it just stopped. And jumped forward in time. Now it's just running along forcing one conquest after another. No build up, no behind the scenes to his ideas, no setting up traps and schemes... just another bullet point to hit in a mediocre presentation. To be fair, it's written very well, just fails to hit the metrics of what makes a story a story, and not just a presentation of events.
