- TheGreatPotatoManRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0The book follows Leo on the cusp of success and then….The administrator class crest shatters into a myriad pieces. The story is memorable even for me (I can barely remember my own name on my best day after all). We get some nice mysteries to explore and motives and direction. Overall I like it and wait for more.
- TheProudfootRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Had to actually buck up and make a RR account to review this story because of all the fictions I've read on this site over about a year, this one definitely shows the most early promise.
This story opens up swinging for the fences in terms of worldbuilding, and I definitely appreciate that. At the outset, the world has a lived-in feeling that I haven't found in many other stories on this site. The author's setup of the world at the beginning has a very Sanderson feel in that not every mechanic is explained as soon as it comes up, making said mechanics feel more intrinsic to the universe. Honestly, the first incidence of the Silence did more to get me invested in a few paragraphs than many other stories have accomplished with several chapters.
Characters, so far, have been primarily handled well. The two main male characters so far feel like people with backstories and motivations of their own beyond just being audience tour guides for the plot, though the third character who gets added to the ranks is less fleshed out so far. I also appreciate the lack of hamfisted romance attempts between any of the now three main characters; grown adults being interdependent without mooning over each other is a welcome breath of fresh air.
And then, on top of this, the grammar and writing style are really solid! It is so nice to not be constantly distracted by bad grammar and poor wording. As an unrepentant prude, some of the F bombs in the first handful of chapters was not up my alley, but that has thankfully trailed off.
There are a couple points that I feel could be stronger:
1) Character motivations. The author is playing a little closer to the vest with these than might be desirable, especially with Allan and Spade. Some ambiguity is good, but too much makes it harder to relate to/appreciate characters' decisions.
2) Third person descriptors. It's hard to find fresh ways to refer to a character in third person repeatedly, and this story does it better than some. The author ju - Try showingRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0The story begins with such a grounded and logical approach that it's evident the author possesses a mastery of storytelling. It's a refreshing rarity in the litRPG genre, captivating readers with its realism and depth. I eagerly anticipate more chapters, as this work is truly exceptional.".
Keep up the good work author. - XtraRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0The story is wonderful and exciting. Very well-written and easy to read. The book captivated you right from the start and sets up the characters and their motivations extremely well. It is very immersive. (It is like watching a movie play because of how much detail is used effectively) and the fantasy setting is well-established.
- RekiuRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Great plot, believable characters, good writing—this is an awesome LITRPG progression book. Especially like the mysteries slowly unfolding throughout each arc and am really anticipating learning more about this world and these characters. Bravo author, and please don’t pay any attention to the trolls coming out from under their bridges.
- notapandaRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5The start, so far has been amazing, and includes a lot of promise. The idea behind the novel is also very unique and will definitely capture your attention. The overall system seems designed nice, and the worldbuilding as well is splendid. Furthermore, the characters do not seem hollow and have personalities,
but the one problem is that there are far too many [FragmentHolders] it will most likely go to the millions and that number seems far too high knowing that there will also be more Shards/Fragments undiscovered. In addition, getting every single shard seems near impossible and after a plethora of years the most likely result will end in the strongest individuals each having a couple ten thousands of Shards/Fragments. The most likely solution would be too have it at like 20% or make the skills you get as more Shards/Fragments more overpowered so you can breakthrough the disparity of how many [FragmentHolders] and shards you need to collect. Finally, the Executioners reasoning to join the party seems weak since she could join a different group to find more success. Also, if she picked up a Shard/Fragment she would have more power since the Sovereign of Zelrya can use it and she is a Tier 4 which means that the Shards/Fragments boost your skills even if your not Tier 0 and upgrade it.
Also I am assuming that [FragmentHolders] are people with the class and not how many people that have Shards/Fragments since it only showed after he changed his Class to a [FragmentHolder] also how would people in Tiers above 0 have a chance to become the administrator since they cannot change their class, seems kinda counterintuitive, but that's the end of my rant. :)
Hope you get well soon !
Also are they Shards or Fragments ?? - MrHrulginRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5The moment when the third character joins the party feels really weak. Nothing resembling a solid justification for a professional to give up everything to follow a minor thief. Yes, he can see the shards, but if she doesn't care about that, then there's no significant reason why she should follow him in particular in the face of his terrible situation.
- AthalahelmRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5I like it; but the premise for the story is unsustainable. Half million shard holders- he will never succeed and 20 chapters to get 1 shard is ridiculous. Author writes very well; but he should pick more realistic goals for his plot. I don't doubt author could produce 1000 chapters, but they'd never be even halfway to the goal.
I wager the author will give up long before readers... at which point he'll join a long list of hiatus writers. I have too many to count already. Frankly it isn't a goal he can write too...ever. - Gael FerrerRoyal Road★★★★ 4.0Enjoyed it a lot, has the pieces for a great story. The worldbuilding is very solid and the character Evolution feels natural from their design.
The only negative is maybe it is a little slow at times, with some chapters narrating common interactions.
The interludes felt unnecesary at first but last one was nice. Im usually a fan of them but in this case... - AusphelianRoyal Road★★★★ 3.5Frankly, however many chapters in I am, I just can't get hooked on it. I'm not forcing myself to read this story, but I'm also not eager about it. There's, in my opinion, nothing outright *wrong* with the story, a few grammatical issues, overused phrases, little things like that, but nothing like super abnoxiously bad to turn you away. You, whoever you may be, might like this story. I will not sit here and say you won't. Really, it feels like a first attempt, and there's nothing wrong with that, it's a learning experience and I gave it as many chapters as I was willing to give. Maybe I'll come back and try it again after a chunk more of chapters. All this is really just a lot of words to say a whole Lotta not much, but we've gotta hit word caps on these reviews, whether they be good, bad, or mid. At the end of the day, I think this story could be really very good, it just needs a little work and fleshing out. Something to make it not so hollow in a fairly over saturated genre.
I do appreciate the work the Author has put in, I'll be putting this back in the TBR pile
