The Genesis System

Description
Genesis. It is the end of countless stories. The end of thousands of universes, billions of planets, and trillions of lives. But what is taken may also be given, as shown in the story of Cael King. A young man of Earth, knowing only a life of study and work in the relentless and endless pursuit of satisfaction. This is the origin of his story.

Inspired by the system used in The Legend of Randid.ly Ghosthound. The system is an homage but the characters, world, and story are unique. I will post as often as I can and, given that I am not starting work until July, that should be pretty frequently. If you have any suggestions or comments please feel free to leave them as this is my first story and I'd love to improve both it and my writing style.

- the beholderRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Reading this story you can tell that the author hasn’t written many things before; however, this doesn’t detract from the story, as he learns and grows through his writing. The main character starts as a weak simpering boy who is taken and thrust into a world of fighting that’s he’s never experienced before, I like the main character and his personality building he changes in a very realistic way and he isn’t the typical “I’m perfect never a flaw made” character that’s so plagues many books he’s flawed like everyone but his flaws make him interesting to read about. The world building is very thorough with an extensive list of galaxies and worlds and characters along with a little lore every chapter at the beginning which I find interesting. Very few grammar mistakes almost perfect save an occasional rare typo, very rare by royalroadl standards. All in all I’d suggest reading as it’s an entertaining fast paced book that’ll keep your focus throughout
- CelsicaRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Never thought this genre would be so crowded, but I think everyone just loved Ghosthound so much. The author of the Genesis System is not afraid to follow the best yet do his own thing too.
5/5 Overall. This is really enjoyable, I hope the quality doesn't change
Style 4.5/5
Flows well, pleasurable overall. Some exposition I read quicker and could use a bit more literary flowering to spice up the descriptions.
Story 4.5/5
It has good worldbuilding. Nothing has blown my mind by its ingenuity yet but its great overall. Good job balancing character adventures with world building.
Grammar 5/5
Pretty clean overall, worthy of a first page novel
Characters 4.5/5
They're overall good but first person monologues as character building seriously need to stop on this website. Make them act their character, no need to spell out everything they think so clearly and just lose any mystique
TL;DR Read this if you like LitRpgs at all, this is deserves a good spot on this website. Nothing crazy special, but lots of good stuff - NirgeRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0This one is a hidden gem, with a rapidly developing story, and interesting world building.
I just wish the author would spend less time mentioning gains and focusing on the game mechanics and more on the characters.
That said, it's a good read, very well written and highly enjoyable :) - TelRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0First off I'm a sort of fan of the Ghosthound novel this one was inspired by.
All told ProfoundMagician is a bit more skillful in handling the temporal McGuffins. Time is relative and so is it's handling. ProfoundMagician outdidly did the ghosthound by not sticking to the MC. There are just enough interludes treading that fine line to remind us the rest of the universe is there and however slowly time marches ever onward.
That said because it is an "inspired by" novel there are a few fairly cringe worth moments where the author just should have known better. Little things mostly that if you hadn't read the other you would never call him on, but for having mentioned it should have been avoided like the plague.
The "it works because it's murdery" litrpg genera maybe not at it's best but with a few flashes of suprising depth. Half truth's, lies by ommision, and "you didn't ask" in a litrpg system novel?
Fifty chapters in, Ten days Earth Local post system, and about a year and a half personal elapsed. Depending on how you look at it still very early days.
Can't wait to see where it goes. - TheGreatOneRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0The STYLE!!!
Holy balls the style alone makes this story worth 5 stars in all categories!!!
I know that doesn’t make logical sense but it doesn’t matter because it’s true...
The story is fun and engaging all the way through, few grammar errors to speak of, and characters are interesting, but the style is just beautiful...
The author’s skill in writing is amazing. - sugouxxxRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0I'm. Truly. Satisfied.
This story absolutely entertaing. Not to much number. Worldbuilding really nice. MC doesn't bang this! bang that! Bang Tree! I love it.
Yet the character, the MC, how should i say it. I kinda get it his personality. But he's still forgetable. Hell the foresight girl is more memorable than him. For now. - Bored monsterRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5I honestly loved it. The story was well thought out and executed. Some things felt a bit forced but at least an explanation was given out.
* The way his mentor JUST happened to explain his plans because he was excited.
Still it's worth read. - GuideGooseRoyal Road★★★★ 4.0This is a well written story that brings a sense of enjoyment to the reader like a good story should. Some inspiration has been taken from The Legend of Randidly Ghosthound in the term of paths, but nobody ever said an idea of paths was solely only allowed to be used by that story. It fits well with this story, and the original content is definitely there.
The story itself is interesting, but nothing new to royalroad. At this point in time, originality is really hard to come by, so it is up to the author to make their story enjoyable. They could write the most cliche story, but if they add new things and put twists in there, it will leave the reader satisfied. Gensis does just this. An MC being stuck in a dungeon and having to power level with a game interface and classes in a world of magic+monsters after being transmigrated is nothing new. However, the presentation and little twists make the story just so enjoyable.
I really wish this story had been going on for a year or so just to have that huge stockpile of chapters I would be able to dive right into, but believe me when I say that I will closely follow this one. It looks like it'll only get better.
7/1/18
So, once our MC came back from his dungeon world and arrived to Earth, things got a bit eh with the story. It seemed like it was going to become kind of boring because Cael was acting rather stupid. However, it seems like the author intentionally made it so and is progressing his character with the new realizations of the MC.
The story seems like it will be going in a very good direction, and may hit a five star mark, but for now and how so so the story is compared to before, I'm just going to keep a closer eye on it to see how it does. The recent introduction of future characters was rather generic, but we'll see how that ends up going.
The story is definitely worth a read. - ikanikanRoyal Road★★★★ 4.0The stories premise at the dungeon world is really interesting. Plus with the 'Primus' title and it should pick the story up, but it all fall flat when he get back to earth and all those plot choice that the author pick. It still good but maybe the execution is a bit weak. Still a better story than other in RR
- MyNameWasStolenRoyal Road★★★ 2.5the story is rushed and the characters don't really have any depth to them.
About 60% of the story is just skills and status screens and stops me getting into the story.
The main character has severe personality changes where he goes from a warrior one second to a useless baby the next who gets annoyed at someone breathing to loudly (not an actual example but i wouldn't be surprised)
