He had to see her again. He didn't know why. He was a grown man now, no longer the lonely child he'd been in the past. And yet the breathtaking need remained the same, and every time he recalled that night the pain of separation was still as strong, still as raw has it had been. He knew it made no sense and yet he couldn't deny it. No matter what others might say he had to meet her. And, deep inside his heart, he childishly hoped she'd be a little bit like him, that she'd be able to truly see and understand him. For what bound could be stronger than blood? She dreamed of death every night and of freedom every morning. From her window she saw herself leave that place, run across the forest and escape the suffocating fate that awaited her. And yet she knew that the chains that bound her were needed and well deserved. For she was all too aware of the dark horror of who she truly was. And so she accepted her fate. Until a promise she couldn't remember being made was fulfilled, and a Prophecy of blood and death never came to pass. And so maybe she could be freed from those chains after all. Maybe there was still hope for her. Maybe she'd be strong enough to deny her true self and simply live.

- karl646Royal Road★★★★★ 5.0First off the book flows well. The characters are complex and relatable. There are quite a few names that go through this book but at no point did i feel lost. The author calls the first volume a prologue or an introduction into the world and i could see that as story progresses the worlds starts to open up, expand. The romance in this novel was done great none of the light novel love at first sight crap and was developed slowly and naturally. Offen in novels you can see that the books starts to linger a bit too long on side characters but here its kept short and sweet. There were a few grammatical errors i noticed but nothing too serious to take you out of the story.
Overall i will excitedly wait for the continuation of the series and encourage all who fancy a well written fantasy adventure novel spiced with a bit of romance to give this one a shot. - m45halo45mRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0I wont say much since its an old book but i still think it deserves some recognition.
This book is great.
The story flows really well, in no point was I bored or lost. There were no exhausting exposition as you normally find in stories here. There are allways hints to a greater picture and yet to be seen motives.
The characters feel real, they make mistakes and its frustraiting but that just goes to show how real they feel, and I dont mean just the main leads of the story all of the side characters have a personality of their own.
I wont say anything about grammar since Im not a native speaker but there wasnt anything bad enough that even I could see it so its 5/5 for me.
The only bad part about this is that this is only the first book and the second book only has the first chapter up and was not updated in 18 months (neither was the author site) so thats that. Still if you are reading this review i implore you to read this book, it deserves to be read.
To the author, if you are still out there, thank you for this wonderfull story!
