The Fractured Crown

Description
In a galaxy ruled by tradition, decadence, and intrigue, Alexander Von Harenstein the Third unexpectedly ascends to the throne of the Milky Way after his great-great-great-great-great grandfather chokes on a chicken bone. Alex, an unremarkable man with no aspirations for power, is thrust into a world of opulence, politics, and imminent danger.
The royal cabinet’s shadowy schemes and the absurdly short lifespan of recent monarchs suggest Alex’s reign will be brief. But his troubles take an otherworldly turn when a mysterious voice invades his mind, claiming to watch him everywhere and always. What starts as cryptic warnings soon becomes a harrowing encounter with entities capable of bending reality itself—void creatures that twist space and shatter Alex's understanding of his universe.
As he fights to survive, Alex uncovers disturbing truths about the galaxy’s hidden rulers and his role in their plans. Time runs thin as the fractures in reality deepen, and Alex must decide whether to flee, fight, or embrace the incomprehensible forces that have targeted him.
When the line between power and manipulation blurs, one question remains: Is Alex the rightful king or merely a pawn in an ancient, cosmic game?

- CIGAPRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5So far, the story has definitely been an interesting one.
From the very beginning we are thrown into a situation that needs resolving. There is a large amount of mystery left hanging in the air that compels the reader to continue reading, and the mysteries only continue to grow. Additionally, the information given is enough that one can get a hint of what is going on behind the scenes without it being clearly stated.
On the other hand, the chapters feel somewhat abrupt. While this does help increase the idea of mystery there is a feeling of lack of movement/progression, even though the characters are clearly moving to an end goal. This may be because I have not read enough of the story but it does feel like something is lacking.
The lack of substance also makes the characters feel a little bland. They definitely have set personalities and voices, but they feel somewhat one dimensional or static. That being said, the interactions and dialogue feel well done and thought out, with conversations feeling somewhat realistic.
This is further helped by the proper grammar and writing, where very few errors can be found. There is a bit of confusion with inner thoughts being put in the same paragraphs as text but it is a very minor thing.
Overall definitely something I’d check out. Good story! - Charles HackerRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5This was very quick and fun to read!, the quotes at the top are a nice touch, and I found myself chuckling at a few points. As there are some complicated themes in the story, I think it will be good to walk the reader through more, it is difficult to parse some characters' intentions and alliances, although that could be part of the effect. Fun and engaging read!
- HoneyKnowsRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5The book is endearing and enduring . I found the thoughtful idioms enticing and the interplay of innocence and escapism enticing. Eventually remediating principles eclipsed the fractious components of fear and isolation. All in all it is a sojourn into elapsed fears anxiety and hopes and encourages the reader to forge ahead. I particularly like how the hero is coming to grips with his insecurities and finding a clear intention to follow. I am excited to learn how this all plays out. I am intrigued by the protagonist and encouraged by the development of the antagonist. I wonder how the protagonist will develop from here and how the eventual saga will evolve.
- TheHofferRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5First off, I think the first chapter of this story really does a good job of setting the tone and setting of the remainder of the story. The reader gets a feel for the opulence that has taken over society and somewhat the absurdity. You almost get the feeling everyone is so bored they've dipped into too much futuristic extravagence. The MC is narrating the whole thing and he has a really fun voice and perspective to travel in which bodes well for any timeloop story, because you're going to be spending a lot of time with them.
Style 4/5 - Style gets this score because I think the guiding premise and drive behind the timeloop doesn't needlessly copy something else, so it starts feeling like its own thing right away. Additionally, there are small perspective shifts that help color events in ways that Alex wouldnt be able to. These REALLY add to the story. It loses a point here simply because I feel like some scenes don't feel earned like they haven't been developed enough to elicit that result.
Story 4.5/5 - Easily the shining part of this narrative. Every story needs to hit this benchmark above anything else. Grip and carry the reader with an entertaining story. This is done here in spades. The chapters end in ways that make you want to keep reading and the guiding mystery is compelling.
Grammar 5/5 - Nothing to add here. The writer knows their business.
Character 3.5/5 - This is probably the only area that didn't have me quite yet. Some interesting things happen to shade in a bit of the character's motivations, but the characters haven't come into their own quite yet. A lot of them feel like tropes at the present time. Entertaining tropes beyond a shadow of a doubt, but they don't do enough to shift the needle in feeling like living, breathing characters quite yet. However, based on this writer's skill, I would imagine the story will get there. - charlie2020Royal Road★★★★★ 4.5Good engaging and fast start through the first 5 chapters… death by poultry, a newly reluctant and recluse heir, and the unremitting administer putting up with everything through old promises and and fear it would all collapse without him.
A sprawling galaxy and relatives falling like flies trapped behind a window curtain, the void calls Alex, I want tho know how he answers! - SHIELD084Royal Road★★★★ 4.0I really enjoyed what has been released so far. The first chapter really drew me in. I couldn’t stop reading. There’s a lot to figure out going forward. I really want to know what’s really going on and how the main character will grow and adapt to his new role. I can’t wait for more chapters.
