The Forgotten Lands

Description
The lands close to the edge of the world, which is marked by an ever-present fog, are known as the barrens. A blighted land in which crops struggle to grow , with only the very poor and desperate to occupy the scarce villages. Naturally making it a haven for outlaws. It is in one of these barrens that a raider called Raegan was born and raised, feared and respected by the cut-throats he grew up around. The world has been told that magic is responsible for cursed regions known as the Forgotten Lands. For this reason anyone with the gift of magic are labelled abominations, a crime punishable by death and enforced by the Malleus Maleficarum, the worlds leading religion.Raegan is one such abomination, untrained in whatever magic he may have.Even in the lawless barrens those with magic aren't looked upon favourably, and so Raegan has kept his 'gift' hidden from all but his closest friend. But now he wants to leave behind the dangerous wasteland that is his home and everything he has ever known, in the effort to seek new experiences. No matter where this new path will take him, good or bad.

- Sh3adeRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5until chapter 23 review.
Style: It’s quite good, easily conceived and alluring.
you would be so immersed that you can’t get enough of it.
Story: A dark fantasy that’s wonderful world building, detailed and unique magic concepts puts it among the top ffs of this site. Author is very good at describing fighting scenes resulting into vivid, elaborate and more realistic combat which is very rare in this site and humor is very humorous (if that’s a word), all hail great lord Pussycus.
Characters: MC isn’t some white knight in shining armor and not exactly ruthless either, he’s how a mercenary should be like and is fit for his role.
Here where I am to complain, other (be it main or side) characters needs to be fleshed, maybe talk more about their past, relationships between each other or do some bonding sessions.
Do some sidestories once you’re farther in the story.
Grammar: I prefer not to talk about that because I am only at most mediocre ; further more I don’t care as long as I can understand what the author want’s to convey but from what I can tell It’s above average.
I suggest you elaborate more on how magic and other skills work and aim for perfect world logic.
Well keep up the good work and give me MOOOORE. - violeDgraceRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5at first i didnt think i will like this ff, just because i couldnt relate what was going on. after the first chapter i became so engrossed in the story, it felt like i was there with them.
the MC is very well done, specialy in these past chapters. the fights are very descriptive you can see yourself in his shoes and know that he is very talented in fighting. there is no 3 flashes here 2 swish there and they died.
the only reason there is a -0.5 is because this is just the begining and i dont see where the story will go from here. im pretty sure the author will cook something up after this arc. so that 0.5 is waiting for you author. - WhoCaresRoyal Road★★★★ 4.0Overall: 4/5 The world is wonderfully crafted with rich detail, backstory and the mystery elements are excruciatingly well done. The start is hard to hold on to, mostly because of grammar and style issues but that gets better later on so it's worth enduring the first few chapters or so. However, I recommend going back and editing them to ensure that your readers don't drop it before getting to the good stuff. The underlying seriousness of the story is contrasted with the mc's weird but entertaining personality which helps make it easier to digest what would otherwise be a very dark tale.
Style: 4/5 Using present tense is nice, daring and refreshing but you consistently fall into the past tense which throws off the narrative voice, weakening the style and the impact on the reader. But, it gets better later on, with fewer lapses. The rest of the style is great. The voice of the character is distinct and recognizable. The changes in POVs are done smoothly (mostly, but there are a few times when it goes back to the MC without any notice) and the style is used to draw distinctions between the various characters' personalities which is great!
Story: 4.25/5 Good stuff. Concrete information regarding the plot is revealed in bits and pieces, enough to tease the reader but never enough to allow them to come to a conclusion. Hints are definitely being dropped here and savvy readers will be able to pick them up readily enough. Now we just have to hope that it's all brought to a head properly!
Grammar: 3.5/5 Better than most fics on rrl but could use a PR. I included the tense issue in style rather than grammar but I'm cutting points for it here rather than there. There are a lot of typos, might want to PR it a little more. Also, earlier chapters have problems with run ons and awkward sentence structure but that gets better later
Character: 4/5 The MC is weird but entertaining. He's an unusual blend of ruthless and funny that really makes you forget the vicious stuff he's doing
