- DamoklesRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0The chracters have a solid development and possess individuality.
The story setting is very cool, and i cant wait for the next chapter.
P.S.: The murder hole will get us all one day xD - KorenTiquarRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0This review is of the story up to chapter 13. I am really enjoying this story.
Style:
There were a couple of hiccups in the prologue skipping between first and third person, but that has cleaned up after that.
Blue boxes exist but they don't completely dominate the story. I personally like them as long as they don't take up half the chapter and require me to have a college degree in math to understand them.
The story has a good mix of realism and comedy, without overdoing either.
Story:
The story makes slow but steady progress. Don't read this expect huge changes and incredible fight scenes right off the bat. This isn't an OP dungeon core story. At least not yet. The stories growth is believable and consistant.
Grammar:
While I have managed to find a couple of issues, they were few and far between, and the author is good about responding to them if you comment about it. You really can't ask for more than that.
Character:
I really like the 3, I guess 4 if you count Bob, characters we have met so far.
Over all I am really happy so far with the direction this story is going, and I am really looking forward to seeing more chapters. I have always like the dungeon core and evolution genres because they have such a wide range of directions the story can go. I personally hope to see our DC continue to work on helping humanity survive, and evolving his monsters to be interesting and unique. - mrpixeltechRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5The story does a good job of balancing your typical creative dungeon-core tropes with the more stereotypical dungeon-core tropes. Author, you're doing well and writing regularly at a reasonable pace - break the cycle of dungeon-core-hiatus, I believe in you :)
- Not_A_HatRoyal Road★★★★ 4.0This is a dungeon apocalypse story, where, right before the system moves in, the MC is killed in a humorous encouter with a dog. He's offered a second chance as a dungeon core - the new administrators of the universe are a bit short on hands - and decides that it's better than the alternative.
The dog comes along too as a boss/assistant/stabilizing influence, and also because he's adorable.
So far, it's been pretty light on dungeon mechanics; he decides not to be a murder pit (seems reasonable) and eventually starts taking in tennants instead. All he's really done is dig rooms and make loot, which are basically furnishings for the people he's taking in. No real invasions, no bosses (besides the dog), only fairly simple monsters which are all basically meat robots.
It's a decent read, though. Once past the 'digging chapters' there's a fair amount of talking that goes on, politiking between the people he shelters and such, as they adjust to their new world and attempt to bootstrap some sort of civilization. If you enjoy slower-paced stuff, and appreciate an apocalypse where people don't immediately degnerate into savages, you might like this.
On the other hand, it's not super compelling. Tt doesn't really have a strong theme or direction. So far it's pretty much just been random survival stuff, and there's no overarching goal or driving force behind the narrative, besides 'try and make life suck less'. If you're the sort of person who wants a myth arc or strong character motivations, this might not be for you.
Oh, and while I wouldn't exactly call it 'meta', there's a lot of 'novels work like this, so things in our life should too', which... meh. It's not the worst way to skip over boring stuff if the author's not interested in re-writing how 'webnovel dungeons' work, but it kinda annoys me that 'because that's how webnovels do it' is apparently a legitimate reason for how to figure stuff out in this universe. The System must have done a bunch of reading or something.
