just from the prologue it is kind of catchy and draws interest. but though i am far from an expert i feel the writing still needs work. a decent read none the less. i liked what i read so far. it does seem like a worthy fiction to pass the time and lose oneself in it's world.

The Dolls of New Albion is a good story that shows how far people are able to go for the sake of satiating their hunger for love. Far enough to even rise the dead.
While some manage to stave off their desires and act in accordance with the interests of their loved ones, others cannot and are consumed by strong feelings of love and jealousy and will do anything to satiate their own desires.

I love a good creepy story; ones with animated figures and dolls are especially scary!
I like how you introduce us to the characters using the narrator to lure us in; I also like how you hint that the narrator could later play a part in influencing the story too - something we as readers should keep in mind...  (don't always believe what you read/hear!)
The description of the action in the scenes also, are well written and paints a vivid picture in my head.
Here's hoping for more gripping page turning to come!

The cogs are turning, the zeppelins are ruling the skies, and the whole wide world runs on steam. But don’t be fooled, because this is not your ordinary steampunk story.
I started reading this series yesterday and I am absolutely in love with the world of New Albion. It is a charming, almost magical place. Rich in culture and mythology, this city surely became the center of many, many good stories.
If you ever really want a book made out of this world, now it is your chance.

And here we go with this new story from New Albion.
The first impression is good and makes you want to know a little more about this world, Annabelle's life, her role and the impact she will have in this adventure.
All of which promises big surprises and perhaps a few scares...

I recently started reading the Dolls of New Albion fan fiction novel. I am an avid fan of the musical stories that Paul Shapera has created. I had not expected that someone would make an entire book out of it, though there are some short fan fics.
This is a true book, and I am curious to see how it unfolds, now my review, which I might adapt as more chapters are released beyond chapter 6.
Style score 5 out of 5: I like that the lines are separated, this makes it easy to follow who is talking, and what is going on. Now the strong part of what I have read so far, that has to be the detailed and vivid description of locations and people. I mean, it goes into explicit details to paint a picture of what is going on in my head. Not too much, and there is a fine balance between how it looks and what is going on. I am intrigued to see how this pans out when action is added into the mix.
Story score 5 out of 5: This is a fan fiction, so far, the author is staying true to the source material while expanding upon the existing characters, the latest chapter introduces a new character unknown to the music that Paul Shapera has made. However, it blends seamlessly into the story as if it belongs. This makes me curious about the future of the story as new more unknown elements will be added and changed.
Grammar score 5 out of 5: I am not one of the best people to rate grammar, since English is not my first language but while I was reading, I did not find a single error, the tenses were correct, there were no major flaws. There is nothing wrong that pulls you out of the immersive enthralling New Albion, also, I liked the narrator, Kate, it seems as if someone is telling the story.
Character score 5 out of 5: Now this might be something I might adapt later on, but so far, the portrayal of Annabel and Jasper are perfect, there will be other main characters later on. There are some new things about the characters, but instead of detracting, it adds character to the, well, characters. T

    Short version: yes!
Exploring the world of Paul Shapera's opera, "The Dolls of New Albion," this fan fiction novel takes you on a steampunk journey. It aims to capture the vibe of the original masterpiece while adding some twists. The author does a great job mixing the original material with his ideas, giving a nod to Shapera's creation while putting their own spin on it. In each chapter, the fan fiction dives into parts of New Albion in a way that haven't been explored before.
I got totally hooked on the story and couldn't resist it. The steampunk vibe of the tale stuck with me, making me want to explore the original music that brought the story to life. Highly recommend!

It’s really rare to find a fanfiction based on a musical recording. And though I never listened to it, I can tell from the wiki alone that this fanfiction is really faithful to the source material.
    Style score:
Let’s get the cat out of the bag first: maybe it’s that the story is actually too faithful to the source material cause I enjoyed the author's other story a lot more. I think that the omnipresent, omniscient, and really talkative narrator — though truly necessary for the narrative — is not really working in the novel favor in the early chapters. Later on, the narrator is introduced once in the first person, truly selling the idea the narrator is a living, breathing person in the narrative and it actually helped sell the whole “talkative narrator thing.” But I think the narrator could really use something like a unique typo as they are a truly detached, ‘unique voice’ within the novel.
That being said, the style is fast-paced, easy to read, and improving over time, with plenty of dialogues and perfectly serves the narrative in delivering the feeling that something isn’t quite right, empowering the truly tragic and grimdark story that the author promised.
    Grammar score:
Nothing to say here. If there was any grammar issue, I completely missed them, which is a good sign about the grammar quality.
    Character score:
The characters are also faithful to the source material but contrary to the style, I truly think that plays the strength of this fanfiction. There is a dark abyssal depth to them that fits the narrative perfectly.
The dolls in particular are truly engaging and you want to know what going to happen to them, from their tragic resurrection to their equally tragic end.
    Story score:
I think I was misunderstanding this story until chapter 7 and the true necessity of the narrator cause the characters keep tragically dying... or going back from the dead? This story can’t have a main character, hence the need for a strong narrator.
Anyway, I think the story truly

Right off the bat, I'm going to say I really love the premise of the story. The idea of trapping a soul in a doll is very cool, even if it's only for the very beginning of the story. Overall, I'm positive about the story and its themes, but I do have some critiques, which I will mention below. I'm going to divide this into sections because I feel like that's just easier for everyone.
    Grammar
The grammar all seems really good. I didn't really find any errors, so good job.
    Style
Here's where I have some of my issues. I think the narrator can feel a little awkward at times. The way they describe the story, I just don't find it as compelling as the sections where we actually get to experience it. In particular, I thought the prologue didn't work for me. With all that being said, the actual dialogue between the characters is really fun. It's written in a very old style, but that feels intentional. The author is clearly trying to match the sort of era the story is set in. And I like that quite a bit. I also think you might want to add just a bit more description of the scenery. It definitely helps when creating an image in your head.
    The Story
I find the story to be pretty good overall. I do have a few problems with it, mostly with pacing. The pacing of the story is brutally fast, and I think it drags down some otherwise really impactful emotional moments. For example, you have a character who kills the love of their life whose soul is trapped in an automaton. She's devastated, depressed, and almost kills herself. Then she immediately opens the door and makes out with the guy delivering books. Then, literally, like a paragraph later, they're talking about having kids before the narrator says that they did go on to get married and have kids. It just doesn't work because it happens way too quickly. I could see six or so chapters there of the characters dealing with their grief and making a new relationship organically. Instead, it feels like it comes out of nowhere and does
