If I had to describe this fan-fiction in one word it would be that it  « fits ». The characters are the same has the novel, the atmosphere is nailed, every building block of this story fits perfectly and I love it. The world feels like a living a breathing thing, not something that moves to the whims of a scenario, only men and women doing their best in various stations and places. I’ll be following this story with great interest.
Dear author, thank you for this splendid story.

This is a pretty darn good Youjo Senki fic. Fun to read, original premise, good execution.
My only criticism as of chapter 18 is that Tanya here is a bit too aware of how people see her and there's none of those humorous miscommunications based on her warped sense of what others think. I get that some people get annoyed by that or just don't like reading stories that aren't about hypercompetent protagonists, but I prefer my characters more flawed and the story might be improved with a bit more humor.

This captured and kept me reading up to the latest chapter in one sitting, thanks for letting me read this!
To me the characters feel like people and not just Human One or Human Two
I do not have any constructive feedback but the review requires fifty words.
Hope you keep this up, these chapters have been great!

The Devil on the Throne by roberthbutlerwriter presents a fascinating and high-stakes political fantasy with a unique premise: Queen Tanya Degurechaff, a mage of the Empire, unexpectedly ascends to power as the last surviving member of the Commonwealth's royal family. The narrative combines political intrigue, post-war tension, and Tanya’s sharp, calculating nature to deliver a story filled with complex power struggles and shifting alliances.
The setup is gripping, blending the devastation of the Hindenburg tragedy with the uncertainty of a nation scrambling for stability. Tanya’s character shines as both an unconventional protagonist and a looming force—"The Devil on the Throne" isn’t just a title but a fitting reflection of her personality and potential impact. Readers who enjoy morally grey protagonists and political maneuvering will find Tanya’s rise to power compelling.
That said, the story’s pacing can feel uneven, particularly if you're not already familiar with the context or Tanya’s history. The heavy focus on political machinations and world-building sometimes overshadows character exploration, leaving emotional beats underdeveloped. This may make it harder for readers to fully connect with Tanya or the secondary characters.
Overall, The Devil on the Throne is an engaging read for fans of political fantasy and darker protagonists who defy traditional roles. With its blend of war aftermath, royal drama, and a ruthless mage-queen at the center, the story offers intrigue and tension, even if it sometimes stumbles in balancing depth and momentum. A strong concept with room to grow into something exceptional.

A surprising find. I didn't know I needed a fic after watching the anime, reading the existing manga, and reading some of the LN.
The author brings his own style. The grammar and spelling are good.
I hope that this, like Valkyrie's Shadow for Overlord, brings in many good and expanding aspects. Valkyrie's Shadow is a difficult comparison because it usually accompanies the original story and doesn't branch off into its own version like here. BUT it is precisely the branching that brings a lot of potency in this case! I hope it stays at this level of story and quality :)
