A motherhood-fluff-filled light read with a lovably odd and strongly opinionated female MC trying her best for the most important person in her life: her daughter. Though teen pregnancy is a risky subject matter for a fictional work, squicky issues are handled with care and left unstated in the text or only hinted at, leaving mysteries that help drive the story mostly told as the reader is introduced to the story’s important characters and backstories through slice-of-life events.
The style is very stream-of-consciousness and reminiscent of Japanese and Korean light novels. This narrative choice does force the reader to spend a lot of time ‘in the MC’s head’, and there are occasions where the narration does break the ‘fourth wall’ to directly address the reader as part of the style’s humor.
Grammar has improved greatly with very few mistakes in recent chapters.
Overall, I’ve found the story a pleasant departure from Royal Road’s usual power fantasies and can recommend it for readers looking for something different where the focus is on overcoming personal adversity rather than saving the world or gaining power. The Day I Caught A Piece Of Sky certainly deserves more interest than it has received, and I hope that Asoraaaaa will stay motivated to write the story to completion.
