Description
Why fight when you can Cheese? Adventurers? Knights? Arcanist?Colby wants none of that nonsense. Not like they’d want him anyway. The only magic he can use is cheese magic. A fireball is just a flying chunk of cheese on fire, while a magic missile is a flying chunk of cheese that’s not on fire. Good thing for him, all Colby wants to do is make cheese. A cheese so delicious that even gods would beg just to try a bite. Unfortunately, there’s just one teensy-tiny problem: a looming war threatens to cut off his much-needed supply of ingredients. But when there’s a will, there’s a whey. Colby will find a way to get those ingredients. He’ll cross borders. He’ll deal with monsters. He’ll even wedge himself into the war if that’s what it takes. Colby will do anything to be a master cheeser. What to expect: - Weak to Strong MC - Slow Burn - Slice of Life Update Schedule: - 5x a week

- Agreeable_RookRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0The concept is excellent. Cheese magic is not only something interesting enough for a (sometimes) non-militaristic magic but if other disciplines, even if they're not investigated, is fun to think about.
The characterization in even one chapter makes me wish for the whole book to be finished already.
I'll be reading it and I think you should too. - Marsu79Royal Road★★★★★ 5.0Still loving the cheese. This needs more attention. Silly but well written and lots of fun.
The characters are interesting and varied, the story develops nicely, the magic system is very unique and interesting.
Read it now!
As it is written out of the perspective of the cheese-obsessed main character, many characters seem a bit simple at first, because the MC does not describe them in depth, but they continue to gain depth through the description of their actions. - NerrhaviaRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0I love the magic system that they use in the cheesemancer, where3 you create constructs in your magical core that you can then manipulate to create spells. the way that you improve the constructs at evolution points is also very interesting as they can change based on your understanding of what you want them to do,
- Ser SlagathorRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Very funny and whimsical. All the characters have depth and help move the story along. Only complaint is there's no audio book yet lol.
The pacing is great. Im also a big fan of the narrative style. The author adds flavor based on the MCs perspective to the general narration which makes it feel like the MC is telling the story.
Again thanks for the wonderful story cant wait to read more - SleepyZRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0I can’t stand any type of cheese unless it’s in natchos, and that’s flavored and used as glue. However, this cheesy story is terrific, I’d even recommend it to ~~God’s mistakes~~ Lactose Intolerant “people”. (I’d seen other reviews put words crossed out, but I don’t know how to do that, so imagine its crossed out.)
This story quickly exceeded my expectations. I just found it ~3/4 hours ago, and I read all of them in a single sitting. If you’re a glutton for pun-ishment this is definitely a story for you. This story reminds me of authors like Obert Skye with the magnificently written sillyness. It’s also reminding me of the book series “Potion Masters” because the main character’s goal is to make the perfect cheese, and he needs to experiment to get there. I wouldn’t be surprised if said experiments start to become more magical in their natures and effects. I love the characters, and they fit perfectly into the story how they should. I don’t want to spoil anything, but this is barely a spoiler, just more cheesy puns you find in the first couple chapters.
All of the main character’s family, is named after cheese, all being in the cheesemaking business. His sister is Brie, his mom and dad are Pepper and Jack respectively. Porter is his best friend, and his job is shipping goods. (TransPORTing them from place to place.) Colby’s ex-best friend is Elaine, but I don’t know if there isn’t a pun, or if I just missed it. I am about as naive as the main character is about everything not having to do with cheese. I’ll specifically say naive rather than dense or stupid, because the main character is able to be very smart, about what he cares about. Which is cheese.
Just like the real world, the root of all the main character’s problems is money. He tries a couple of different things, but the last couple chapters are reminding me of the show Dungeon Meshi. I’m relatively new to reading stories with “Mana Cores” which seems to be surprisingly common on this website, but this story - cpond17Royal Road★★★★★ 5.0I have two issue with the book, one large the other small. The major issue is I’m constantly hungry for cheese. The smaller issue is he has some grammatical mistakes that are frustrating, more so than spelling.
overall this is an amazing story. It’s rooted in realism with fantasy elements that are new and make me laugh every other chapter. Not as much of a fan of the main corny joke but it does get me chuckling every once in a while.
To the author: I know you’re far ahead but I’d like to see more world building as well, I know it’s not everyone’s favorite but a side chapter from other pov could give fun context, you’ve hinted at great characters and stories.
