Julius loves his life. A Detective in the Bureau of Paranormal Activity. An underfunded, overworked government agency that didn't officially exist and was probably one of the most dangerous jobs on earth, and Julius loved every second of it. But now, a war is on the horizon, as the paranormal world is on the verge of being exposed.

Meanwhile, Julius' happy non-life is about to be kicked over as he receives a brand new rookie for a partner and a case that might just be his last.

Just after graduating from high school Ramona Vasquez the only thing on her mind are dating her boyfriend and going to college to get a medical degree, and finally finding out why she and her mother are so sick. Cursed with an unknown affliction, Ramona has made a point to always try and make the best out of her life regardless of what's going on.

But when her boyfriend turns out to be a vampire and tries to eat her, Ramona suddenly finds her whole world turned upside down as she's suddenly thrust into the hidden world of magic and the paranormal.

TL;DR this is great, read it.
Super brilliant paranormal thriller. You got the whole lot in, and they all work well in a believable cohesive modern society. Even a murderous vampire will stand trial to the BPA.
Style:
Superb writing skill, with great pacing and tone for different characters. Urgency is well displayed, especially when FMC gets in trouble. Love the POV changes, something very necessary for such a crime based or investigative novel.
The POV swaps don't give too much away, so the mystery still keeps me turning the page, which is awesome.
Story:
This novel has its story structure perfected to a tee. The pacing is great, always something happening at each moment. It's not a breakneck pace, but enough to let the characters sink it, and the gravity of the situation.
You got both overarching major plots and minor arc plots, all building towards something great in the distance. Put your trust in this author, because this man absolutely delivered.
Grammar:

Character:
Man, the MC's backstory is so intriguing. Love the little drips, the author doesn't outwardly blast you with infodumps. It's sprinkled nicely alongside character development. I like how the author is also willing to forgo plot armour, e.g if the guy is gonna die, that guy will die, not pull some weird stunt or talent out of nowhere, so that was intriguing to see.
Overall, great story to read, I enjoyed every moment of it. Looking forward to figuring out how did the FMC come to such a state in the first place, as that's the main mystery for me.
