THE AVANPOST: A short story

Serdar is a border guard, working day and night just to afford a piece of bread and a pinch of salt.He doesn't love his country. He sees it as overly complex and corrupt, unreachable by hands untainted by crooked politics. Serdar often finds himself in arguments with his fellow soldiers, feeling completely surrounded by people who don’t think rationally. Yet fate forces him to do the very thing he once vowed to hate, caught entirely in a situation beyond his control.The life of Serdar and his need to love reveals the strength of the human spirit in the face of the darkest sides of human nature.
