The Apocalyptic Game - A LitRPG

Description

20 years ago, on an ordinary day, the world was turned into a game in which human beings were the players. Ever since then, humanity fought against the endless swarms of the NPCs, as well as against each other. Yet in the end, it was all meaningless. The pain. The suffering. The victories and the defeats. This game turned out to be nothing more than a joke, and the last of mankind was mercilessly purged.

Shaw was a survivor. She was a player. She was a Warrior. Most importantly, she was the last human on Earth to die.

Yet, death wouldn't be the end for her. Instead, she was given a second chance. She was brought back to ten minutes before the game started with all the memories of her 20 years of combat, and this time, she would win.

So this story is one that has been done before by many authors. Some have done it right others haven't. Right now I believe this is a story that has the pacing, grammer and story content correct in that you are able to follow what is going on and still enjoy the story because you are getting a lot of combat and explaining done in concise way. Over all I recommend reading this story

Now this story has some potential the only things i can see that may make it go shit is the mc turning into some sorta hero or being like robot only focusing on a single  goal and maybe ending with some male character or something in my opinion i recommend doing  some romance maybe yuri   idk but at least it's has to be as badass as the mc .

Listen it's a bit cringy at the start, the main character is an over the top edge lady but I think she's going to get good character development. She has good reason and recovering that trauma will take time. If you can't read that then you won't like it but it's fun and im having fun

The modern world ends and is replaced by the System created by evil developers. The MC is reincarnated from a 30 something woman to a teenager self. The spacing and story is fun to read. The MC is looking to level up ASAP to kill off the System developers.

the direction has started to change for the better, but for the first 20 chapters the MCs train of thought seemed to be "things went really bad last time im going to make sure they go at least that bad again."
being a warrior didnt keep her alive befor better do it again. more ore less telling everyone fuck off and die. she could take 45 seconds to put them on the right track.
she has slowly gotten better but its a fair argument that knowing exactly how bad things are gonig to get and helping no one wile siezing resorces she didnt have the first time around she is making this time line worse for everyone she encounters.
i hope she does a full turn around. ill keep reading for a wile.

The story has the standard returner to an apocalypse setting that we have seen before, if you have read "omniscient reader's viewpoint" or "Solo leveling" you will already know where the plot is heading.
What makes this story stand out from the rest isn’t the setting or the plot but the protagonist herself. Shaw is a walking contradiction, full of bitterness and hate and misplaced affection, an utter mess of a human being and that coupled with a lot of mental backsliding makes her predictable in her unpredictability. Not really the edge lord that she appears at first glance at the very least.  I am also curious to see how a female protagonist will handle some of the standard trope’s stories of this genera usually have, since most of those have male protags, and the main reason I have to keep reading.

This story seems hugely devisive and is with its four stars at the lower edge of readability.
It is better than that. It is a do-over and as far as I'm concerned those are usually extremely comforting as there is a reassuringly overpowered aspect to the hero (I would not mind reading a story where that at least partially worked against the MC).
We have a hero who has been fighting for more than half her life and who knows that she may have to fight as long again with uncertain success at any stage but certainly at the end. Your drunk neighbourhood vet did a couple of tours and is now ptsd'd out, never mind going through this forever and then feeling cheated out of the by then dubious prize. She kills a couple of people which is sort of reasonable to her and certainly does not put her into 'murder-hobo' territory. The other criticism is that she is not psychopathic enough - careful who you hang out with on the net and if anybody suggests seeing a health professional just go along with it.
Grammar is good, there are some mistakes but the tenses are mostly there - there was an atrocious mix which had a 'since long ago' in it - a simple past without the since was all it took.
I like the lack of blow by blow, step by step, meal by meal of many RR stories and foresee some time lapses in the future - some authors seem to think we live forever.
Again, much better than the stars suggest and I certainly find it quite enjoyable. Full disclosure: Marmite is vile.

Not that many chapters out, but I do like the story so far. One of the best things is that she isn't outrageously powerful right off the bat.  A lot of time the MC is immediately granted a legendary class or legendary item, blessing, skill, etc.  All she has is vague memories that haven't played a part except for two occasions and literal years of hardwork in fighting. Yes, she got the strong ass dmg reduction ability early on, but it was explained that risk comes with reward and she did face a accordingly strong enemy to get it. The career choice is interesting and the choices avaible include the usual, but with new ones I haven't seen used. One minor complaint is that its continually referenced that the future players are Gods. Yes, we know that, they're able to dodge bullets within the first 5 levels. The pacing is good if a bit fast because there hasn't been much info on how she progress other than she will slay the Developers and facing monsters; which is nice in its own way as the vagueness leaves a lot of options open for progression.
My favorite thing is that there isn't a love interest found in the first few chapters that will control the story from that point on and that literal paragraphs aren't wasted on describing how 'fair, elegenat, beautiful, jade-skinned" all the women are. Keeps it more realistic in that people in a literal apocalypse surronded by death and monsters are actually trying to survive rather than somehow having time to fall in love, flirt, and build a harem.
Finally, I like how the author inducted Emily and didn't make her a lynch pin of the story, if she makes it she makes it. If she dies, she dies.

I have read up to Chapter 33.
As of right now, this is a good start to a generic apocalypise regressor story. She isn't assisted by an overpowered system or recieved maxed out stats in the begining. She only has her memories (which is mostly useless except for remebering future improtant characters) and her experience. She started out as the typical solo regressor but changed her mind once she was slapped with some humanity and decides to help her fellow players grow before they all die. Going to keep following this story to see how its does for her. Also bonus for strong female lead.

This is one of those generic system apocalypse stories all over the website, and I enjoyed it because of the MC's character.  Shaw goes a little crazy at the end of everything, and I found her emotional processing interesting.  Shaw felt natural to me as a reader, which is more than most MCs.  Around the time the updates stopped, her character was evolving away from PSTD edginess, and I was looking forward to seeing where it went.   Mixed feedback confused the author, who didn't have a clear direction, and the story was abandoned.
Now keep in mind I like the 'loner gets a new start' trope, and I enjoy competent, hardened characters gradually humanizing themselves.  Shaw checked my boxes, especially with how she thinks vs. how she acts.
The story and setting are nothing extraordinary, but the MC's take on everything is unique enough that I followed.  The grammar had some mistakes, but nothing got in the way of a good reading experience.
The story froze and ended up at the bottom of my follows, so I am leaving a review to thank the author for sharing.  If you have a strong outline and vision, don't worry about feedback, and if you don't have those things, best of luck with your next project.
