Description
Note: Knowledge of the Dragon Age universe is NOT required to enjoy, though if you have it, it will only make it more fun!
When Knight-Enchanter Evelyn Trevelyan is ambushed by Avvar barbarians during a mission in the Frostback Basin, she becomes the most wanted mage in Thedas. When she is taken in by one of the Avvar Holds, things become even more complicated as they believe she is the woman prophesied to save the Avvar from extinction. Unwilling to let their savior go, the Thane of Redhold holds her prisoner while the other Avvar Holds seek to capture her. As her status as a mage outside the Circle of Magi brands her an apostate, she can neither go back home, but neither can she simply accept this new life that was thrust upon her.
This is a tale laden with magic, spirits, gods, and demons based on the Dragon Age Avvar culture. In the midst of it all is a complicated enemies-to-friends-to-lovers romance.
This is a AU Dragon Age Inquisition Fanfiction based off of the Jaws of Hakkon DLC. All characters and the world of Thedas belong to Bioware.

- NyxyCatRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Overall Score: Definitely deserving of a 5 for several reasons. First, the story's plot is balanced between the main storyline, action, and romance. Second, I love the focus placed on the Avvar culture, gods, and rituals. The author expanded on a number of aspects to add to the story. Third, is the twist placed on well known parts of the DAI canon, including the choice of characters. Fourth, while there are a number of DA references, you don't need to get them to understand the plot. Lastly, I felt the complexities of the conflicts and relationships were throughly explored and resolved.
Style Score: I gave style a 5 because it's very easy to read, while using diverse vocabulary.
Story Score: I've played DAI's Jaws of Hakkon DLC and I feel like this story has really immersed me into the fantasy culture of the Avvar. A lot of thought was put into the main plot of there being this mysterious prophecy and how the MC has to try and figure out how she fits into this foreign world. It's a classic clash of cultures, from the Free Marcher Circle Mage with Avvar, and all the complications that come with a Circle mage out of the Circle. My favorite thing about the story is the exploration of culture, gods, and rituals. The gods certainly play a role in the plot and there is an interesting twist done with the "mark." There is lots of action as the MC is fights everything from other Avvar to demons. There is also romance with some sexual content, but it is not done in excess.
Grammar Score: I gave it 4-stars because there a few errors but nothing detrimental to the story's readability.
Character Score: I gave it 5-stars because the author gave alternate roles to several DA characters and has original characters as well. I feel while writing dialogue and story for characters such as Cullen Rutherford and Cassandra Pentaghast in a fanfiction is one thing, changing their origins and making them Avvar would come with challenges. I think the author's choice of DA characters was well - Sovurvior98Royal Road★★★★★ 5.0I love learning about lore and history, even if it is a fictional world. Really good interweaving of in-game lore and the authors knowledge of American history. The religious aspects are also very fascinating. And usually Avvar stories are nothing but smut, but this one is far from that. It has its passionate moments but they have a purpose, really recommended to anyone who wants a fresh take on Cullen/Evy romance.
