Description
Kyle Goldman is having a bad century, multiple of them. Kyle is immortal, destined to live the same mediocre life over and over again. Worse, he remembers each time through life. Every betrayal, every life lesson, every combat spell, he is destined to learn them all again and again.
Every life he re-awakens during the Awakening Trials. Trials designed to pull out the full magical and spiritual potential of a Space Force Candidate. Depending on how well he does in these trials can change his entire career. Since this is his thirteenth time through the trials he is well aware of their importance.
Even better, he knows how to cheat. Having prior knowledge of the trials and their ever increasing difficulties is the ultimate form of cheating. Especially when the rewards for completing each stage of the trial is an increased Attribute point.
He's lived each life to its fullest, some dying as a famous ace pilot. Others dying as an expeditionary Marine on long range space recon. Each life ultimately leads to the same inevitable end, he makes friends, tastes happiness for a brief moment, and then is betrayed. The betrayal always changes, but always hurts the same. From there a deep spiral occurs, leading to his inevitable, but often glorious demise.
This time he vows to take things differently. He still plans to ace the exams, but then he will do the unthinkable, he will resign his commission as an officer. To live as an overqualified regular citizen of the free worlds.
With the knowledge of spell craft deeply ingrained in his mind from his previous lives, he is set to make try number thirteen his lucky number after all.
There is only one problem. The Government saw his test scores and now they won't stop to have him in their ranks. It looks like the betrayal will come earlier than expected in this, his thirteenth try at living the same stale existence.

- hudrussoRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Really interesting read. Different loop time story. Lots of cool magic and physonic abilities as well. Love story fits in with the story as well. The different races work well as well as the leveling system. Similar to other systems but different enough to not be predictable. Overall a A+ story. Lived the ending.
- JescoRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Nice blend of Sci-fi and Magic. Interesting world so far. But you should at least read up to chapter 12 because most early mistakes will be clearer. My first rewiew because I read the bad rewiew of one guy and thought it deserved a chance to be read further than the first 7 chapters.
- minooRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0The 13th Loop, twits in ways that we as readers wouldn't expect in a Litrpg time loop novel. the novel is an exploration, with more being reveled to the reader in each chapter. Elements of the novel are well thought out and coherent. The leveling/power system is very unique and satisfying. Characters are unique and fun. MC is OP, which would normally be unsatisfying, but the author makes it work, as the MC still has to overcome with the crazy world he lives in.
The 13th Loop starts off similar to other Litrpg regression novels. MC is a regressor that has OP skills honed across lifetimes. He abuses his knowledge to pass trials fast and gain powerful treasures and stats. And then the similarities abruptly end and we readers are thrown into the world of the 13 loop. Our MC finds his past knowledge to be less reliable than in previous loops and things start to go differently. It begins with getting new powers he never asked for, precognitive psychics interfering that seem to be on his side and the world being plain different. He can't use his foreknowledge to easily overcome obstacles and defeat enemies. MC feels like a pawn in a greater game where is is just trying to woo romance his girl, figure things out, oh and not die. - B. WeberRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5First of all let me say that I very much enjoyed reading this novel now and will enjoy reading this novel in the future. By any metric, this is among the better works on this platform. Please do give it a whirl!
Now, this is very much my personal oppinion and the type of feedback I as an author would like to hear. The characters, the story, the setting, the writing, all of those aspects are well done. It is one of the most innovative and interesting novels I have read in a long while. The story is overall pretty good and very, very inventative. Sadly that is also where some of its problems come from.
The world and the system are... complicated. Very complicated, in fact. Frequent infodumps that, while well written, hinder, at least me, from really getting into the story.
Unreliable information is the second point I find a little problematic. This is all explained and logical from the setting of the story, but it does not help that the "system" seemes to be constantly changing. There are certain rules established, either verbally or by implication that get broken just a few chapters down the line.
I recognize that there are very core elements to the novel that make a lot of these things nescessary. The starting point is very ambitious and difficult to excecute, and I tip my head for I would not have even attempted something like this. Maybe this will help the author or maybe not, regardless I will continue reading!
All the best! - InkBladeRoyal Road★★★★ 4.0The 13th Loop is a unique story bent on creating a very interesting universe with a lot of interesting tropes thrown into a mixing bowl to create a very unqiue resulting sci-fi. The premise and details make a fantastic read, but I also ended up struggling with many of the details due to layout and narrative focus points.
Story
The story premise and direction is utterly fantastic. I think the mash up of popular systems like the psychic abilities, magical powers, and other systems come together to make something that feels similar yet different enough to be unique. However, I have to say many of the story beats and systems get extremely convoluted due to the way the author writes.
Style
I have to say, it honestly feels like every chapter the author goes back and retconns details given earlier, as if he couldn't make up his mind. I can see some bits like the idea that he
Could see the future/ alternate timelines
Was revealed, then he kinda got them one way, then was told they are fake, then he realizes they are other universes. Also, he could remember everything, then later couldn't, then later could only remeber skills? It feels like many of the systems and rules change every five minutes so thay they give me whiplash. Also, the
Memory/Seer sections actually kill the pacing, especially because the reader also has no clue that those sections are happening until they are over. After which you have to scramble to think where exactly yhat section ended and how much of what you read was actually real and how much of it was just the MC seeing a timeline.
Finally, many plot points feel like they rent emphasized or over emphasized. We get a ton of description about events like
The charity fighting event, but get no context as to why it's important or how if affects the narrative other than being a vessel for the leveling system.
Overall, the narrative feels disjointed and confusing, with most plot points feeling way shorter written than others and many other points like him p - ZaxZaubererglueckRoyal Road★★★★ 4.0Good writing. Nice characterisation.
Tough start. But, the story was getting better, drawing me in deeper and deeper every chapter. I was getting invested into not just the main character, but the others around him too. The sign of a potentially great story.
Then all of that gets kicked into the curb. The story changes location, reintroduces characters and then fails to use them. It feels contrived, pointlessly wimsical and gets the story nowhere. The reason I'm pissed of by this is, that it really felt, like the story was building upon itself.
I'm unsure what to think of this now. - KaellomRoyal Road★★★★ 4.0In my opinion, this was a great story in the making... until chapter 25.
The main reason behind this is the first few chapters seem cut and dry. But then a few chapters in there is a sudden reveal that turns over much of what the Main Character presumed to be real.
Then chapter 25 happened. It completely tore up the settings that the story had settled into in a really disorienting way. in my opinion, everything that happened after 25 should have been another 'vision'. This would keep the setting that was working so well without disrupting the readers rhythm.
To rate this story I will give it high marks for the characters specifically the main character. The first few chapters made him out to be a archetypal ovepowered main protagonist, then you defied expectations later on.
The Grammar didn't bother me enough to make reading difficult, though I've kind of developed an 'error filter' at this point being a veteran RR reader'. Definitely needs editing though.
the style is fine as well. Definitely seem like a decent writer, just haven't found your own unique style yet.
The story has to get lesser marks from me unless you decide to revamp from chapters 25 onwards. The plot twist wasn't needed and it happened too suddenly.
I'm purposely using vague language in order not to spoil much of the story. But as I said, you really should reconsider how the story is going. - GezornenRoyal Road★★★★ 4.0A fun read.
Silly at times.
Very, very cautious with regards to not explicitly naming pop culture references while making the reference abundantly clear.
Entirely absurd at times, but following smoothly from chapter to chapter.
It is completed which is better than dropping or dreaded HIATUS.
A comfort food type of story. - turtleshakerRoyal Road★★★★ 3.5So, I want to preface this review that I actually have read up to chapter 28, as that was what was available on patreon.
There won't be any spoilers though.
My overall opinion is that honestly this is a pretty good story if you just want to read one hell of a Rollercoaster. I thought it was gonna wind up being a generic time loop story but Jesus there are some real twists and turns thrown around. (At least for me) I can honestly say i didn't expect any of them. Maybe you, reader will be different. I can't say.
Personally I don't think it's intended to come off this way but I'm taking it as a fun, lighthearted story with serious undertones.
Honestly I'd say give it a read, you might end up feeling differently but I don't think it was a waste of time to read. I enjoyed my time reading and will prpbably keep up with the story.
--------------------------------------
Now to get more specific.
To begin I'll start with the negatives.
- the grammar is pretty poor, it could definitely use an editing pass. This isn't a major concern but there is a lot of misspelled, or incorrect words used. This isn't just a matter of wrong commas or something like that. Some sentences I've needed to reread a few times to find out what words they were trying to use. Things like "begin" being replaced by "benign" just entirely misused words.
- the characters can be really poorly written sometimes.
- I think it has started to move maybe a little to fast in pacing compared to how the rest of the story has progressed.
---------------------------------------------------------
The good
- some of the characters can be really well written sometimes. It's a toss up. Sometimes they seem very realistic in how they react to situations and sometimes as noted in the bad they seem almost too influenced by certain tropes.
- the chapters are a decent length.
- the interludes are well written and I enjoyed them
- the story doesn't seem to take itself too seriously. I normally prefer serious stories but honestl - mustachRoyal Road★★★★ 3.5All in all a good idea and fairly well paced. There are some slow sections but not enough to drag the book down.
The loss of 1 star is due to several "plot" holes due to MC not keeping track of time, in a way that makes no sense, and puts people he cares about at risk.
Having read similar stories, you can see how the series will progress but there is still enough new and novel things that occur to keep it fresh and engaging for the most part. I did have to remove 1/2 star due to spelling/grammar (may be corrected) issues that occurred while I read.
All in all would recommend to people who like (time travel & Regression/time loop) with both High tech and magic.
