Tethered By The Soul System [A Soul-sharing Litrpg]
Community Rating
Description
"While the pain of hiding one's weakness will eventually kill, bearing it makes one temporarily immortal."
It was a stupid quote that was obviously made by someone who'd thought contradictory equals deep. But standing balls-deep in the unforgiving bog known as showbiz, Kadar didn't have much choice but to follow it. Of course, just like the quotee himself, his life would come to an abrupt and unfulfilling end...
Except it hadn't. Notreally.
Part of Kadar's soul now resides in another world where he is both aided and hindered by a curious Soul System that 'rewards' its user with the chance to temporarily return to their original life. But in a harsh world where power revolves around an individual's soul, can Kadar really survive with one split between three people and the instincts he'd developed from his past?

- M.G DriverRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0I haven't read a lot of LitRPG or System Novels, so please don't hurt me when I say I definitely have not seen this kind of System before, specifically soul-sharing. Sure, there were reincarnation isekais where they had a companion soul and what not, but three members with their lifes tied to each other from the get-go like a party system? Neat.
The already interesting premise coupled with intricate characterization of the three MC's (or is it one?) allows the reader to feel like they are part of that party too. The interactions are jovial and lighthearted, but gets grimdark really fast too thanks to the story (slavery anyone?)
Style:
Writing style is great - good descriptions of the environment, scene and the general ecosystem around.
Battle actions sequences are easy to follow, with the reading pace easily keeping up in tense scenario with no break in flow.
Dialogue is clear-cut - I know exactly which character is talking when, it also helps when the three characters are fairly unique from each other.
Story:
Due to the interesting premise, I was slightly a bit confused by it all. It felt slightly forced for our original MC to end up in that situation - I'm sure it will make sense in the end but right now I feel like I'm being dragged along by unknown powers.
Otherwise, the progression of events from reincarnation to slavery is pretty stable and logical. I love how we already have a glimpse into the greater society and how humans are treated in the new world.
Grammar:
5/5, am not native - did not see any errors that stopped me from reading straight through till the latest chapter (chapter 10)
Character:
The soul-bounding premise means characters are the main focus of the entire show - our three MC's constant bickering and struggle to survive together helps us to see their distinct thought patterns (or lack thereof) and really nail the realism of the characters.
There's a few dialogue situations that feels a bit unrealistic (during the talk with the Harvesters), but
