Description

For three millennia the Teal Mountain Sect has endured.  Formed during the Age of Drought as a loose alliance of likeminded sects struggling to survive that qi-starved era, it grew slowly, fueled by comradery and a vein of uniquely colored jade.  When stability and qi returned to the world, it emerged stronger for it.  As time passed it only continued to grow, becoming one of the greatest middle-sized sects on the southern continent. But a sect is not just the story of its origin, or the life of its founder, or even the life of a young upstart seeking to use it as a steppingstone. It’s an existence shaped by the lives of countless cultivators over millennia, each adding another page to its history.  The lives they live, and the way they touch others across time. Tales of the Teal Mountain Sect is a bit of a departure from classic cultivation novels, as its goal is to explore the experiences of the different members of a sect and the legacies they leave behind.

I have really enjoyed the story so far (as of ch 11) and am glad that I kept reading! The first chapter is exposition heavy and the first several chapters moved a bit slower than I am used to on RR, but the worldbuilding is enjoyable and thoughtful.
Style - This book follows multiple characters which can be a bummer at times, but it is done in a way that moves the plot along and informs the reader of different perspectives on the current events. For this reason, I am really enjoying the style and am glad I gave it a chance!
Grammar - The story is well written and appears to have been edited better than a lot of the others  I have read on RR. There are occasional missed errors, but too few to impact the readability.
Story - I have been surprised by how much I have enjoyed the story. Typically I seek out fast paced, 'trigger happy' stories with immediate progression, but this story has been quite the opposite so far. I have found this to be a peaceful read with enjoyable imagery and curious takes on the cultivation genre.
Character - I have enjoyed the different characters presented so far. So far the main character seems to be the teal jade sect itself and the readers get to catch glimpses of the lives of those in it. The initial 11 chapters primarily follow a new cohort of applicants with some meaningful interactions, but I can picture the POV hopping around a bit to show the sect as a whole. I definitely feel invested in Ren and his progress, but also the sect as a whole.
I highly recommend checking out this story, and approaching it with an open mind if you typically go for a different faster-paced book like myself.

I really like what this story is doing. The idea of a sort of anthology series about average life in a cultivator sect is a very fun idea.
I'm looking forward to getting more varied perspectives.  The two main threads we have gotten so far have both been interesting.  Though I am interested to see how the Author handles the "people live thousands of years" issue. I find world building breaks down a bit around those massive time scales.

I'm really loving how xinxia authors are figuring out how to sustainably write web serials! This story has probably some of the most potential of any story I've read in a while, but the format promises that the story really won't get stale at all. I'm rating this story based off of common weaknesses xinxia tend to have:
    1. Power Levels- 10/10 The power scale has a lot of depth. I really don't have a clue what each level is capable of, but so far I don't really care because we've gotten a glimpse of the sect patriarch (who doesn't feel too powerful at all yet is still unimaginably above the iniates) and a random upper-mid level cultivator (who is insanely awesome despite not being able to cut continents in a single strike). Lots and lots of room for the sect and sect members to grow and feel meaningful, but this can develop naturally over hundreds of chapters and I'd be totally fine.
    2. Pacing- 9/10. This is super important. Far too many xinxia stories get sunk by this. The POV switches between a genius young-ish elder gathering some breath on his long road to immorality and little rascal initiates is sooo great for the pacing. I really feel like I'm getting the best of both worlds between power fantasy but also slice of life. They're not the smoothest, and I guess it's sorta intentional for the vignette format, so it isn't the most polished but ultimately I think it's good for the longevity of this story
    3. Characterization- 9/10- The new sect members are a little hard to keep track of- more then some of the random character we encounter, in fact, like the cute kid who is definitely going to become some kind of terrifying origami spirit animal master. However, pretty much every single (male) character in this story feels like they're MCs in their own right- lot of potential, lot of talent and unique powers- which is impressive and I'm really looking forward to getting to know each one of them.
    4. Portrayal of Women- 7.5/10. Not bad, just not really anything great he

Deeply wholesome xianxia adventure overflowing with immaculate good vibes.
The worldbuilding is genuinely spectacular and meticulously crafted. The universe is constructed with incredible care, featuring a rich, cohesive lore and a thoughtful approach to its magical foundations.
It is a refreshing, comforting epic that perfectly balances a majestic scale with a warm, inviting atmosphere. Give it a read!

    K, let me clear
you will like this story if you like cultivation as a genre, is well written and the Author is open to criticism and opinions, he likes to engage in discussion and such. He also has a decent amount of research, while most of the story is still his own creative impulse, you can see in the numerous pages how he introduces various concepts from the real world.
The story does not center in a single protagonist but various memebers of the same cultivation sect (If you are unfamiliar with the concept think a mix between a martial arts school and philosophy+magic or a buddist monastery with magic and lack of the theological part), in their own lives within the diferent eschelons of said organisation, interacting with the world at large, so expect difernt world views and experiences from every character that not necesarly know or interact with eachother outside being part of the same organisation
It has some intresting ideas about cultivation, the concept of a "demonic power" vs regular "cultivator powers/technics", for the most part a positivist view on people (power structures aside), and some imaginative fantastical races.
(also thought for the wise; Mr. Koi likes itteration, sometimes you have read a line twice to realize he did not repeat himself, he simply strung two words that sound similar but otherwise is gramatically correct)
But i has one big thing: Food, FOOD, Food, Food, and even MORE FOOD
trust me when i say sometimes the amount of scenes involving food is rather large, more then anything at the start of the story more then the later chapters, so if you like depiction of people eating, talking while eating, talking around a table, SPEAKING ABOUT FOOD, you are gonna like this story, also crab
