Description
War breeds hatred. Hatred breeds vengeance. Vengeance breeds bloodshed.
Having watched his entire village fall victim to the dastardly nature of war, he steps onto the battlefield seeking vengeance.
With a single swing, he cleaves the Heavens and sunders the earth.
After a century of meaningless conflict, he stands victorious on the final battlefield, one step from completing his revenge. Atop the mountain of corpses, he suddenly realizes that his path of vengeance will not end with the death of his enemies. After having stained his hands with the blood of millions, he realizes that he is just as guilty as everyone else.
Giving up on his vengeance, his heart became light. Letting go of his hatred, his soul became free.
Setting an example for his fellow men, he hopes that they can do right what their ancestors did wrong. As he descends into exile to atone for his sins, he hopes that they can build a future where their descendants would be free from that wretched cycle.
A millennia later, he wakes from exile, opening his eyes to an era of peace and prosperity. With new friends and family by his side, he promises to do anything for the sake of their smiles. In the pursuit of keeping that promise, he comes to realize that adulthood is a lot more difficult than he had imagined…
And that the new world is not as peaceful as it seems.

- aureyuRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Update chapter 61:
I was a little worried that there might be some “One Punch Man” problems with the MC being OP, but those worries are gone as of chapter 61. I love how the author navigates a sense of crisis through the cast of character (his students). Even though MC is OP, author gives him different struggles to deal with without taking away from his OPness. By depicting the crisis though the other characters and MC’s internal struggles, the action works. It’s not just overwhelming power to resolve everything, it’s a combined effort of everyone involved.
Biggest excitement for me right now is how the crisis lays the foundation for the other characters arcs. I feel like I’m about to see the origin story of many MCs from multiple novels, except they’re all intertwined in one universe, interacting and growing with each other.
I felt like I had to write a review after reading Chapter 46.
It bothers me that I can't tell what part of the stories are important and what isn't. At this point, I've given up and decided that every detail is important.
This review is advice for anyone just starting: Don't write off anything as unimportant and don't get hung up when things get messy. Everything falls into place.
---
Story takes you through a fairly lengthy prologue of the Crimson Era from the POV of one of the emperors of the four nations involved in the 100 year war. All of that to set up for the first glimpse into the destructive capabilities of the MC who makes an appearance at the very end.
Then it throws you into daily life. Low stakes, low tempo. MC makes new friends as he learns to let go of his past. He's not perfect, but he tries his best to do right for them. In the meantime, there's conspiracy and evil happening in the background.
---
Everything is spliced together, the slice of life and the background events. Story jumps around between characters and places. Sometimes it's easy to keep track of, other times the author just tosses you into a scene with people you'v - LurkLukeRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0The greats:
MC is a godlike figure from a different era. His title of “Heavenly Demon” is a title from those days at war, but it doesn’t define him. He’s simple and kind. Just a little lost and lonely in the new world. He lost everyone he loved during the warring century, and now he’s just trying his best to protect and provide for his new family.
Supporting characters are MCs in their own way. Each have their own place in the plot. They have their own struggles and aspirations. Everyone comes together as the plot progresses and everyone is awesome in their own way. For example, the steamed bun lady is kind to a fault, always wearing a smile even when she’s troubled at heart. She doesn’t judge people, despite the plot revealing her issues in the past with “perfection”. She has her own story unfolding along with the main plot and the MC.
Without spoiling too much, the students, the grandmasters, other major players, they’re all cool in their own ways. Some haven’t gotten a chance to step into the spotlight yet, but based on the way the story is going, I’ve no doubt that they’ll get their chance.
The style jumps from scene to scene. Sometimes it’s confusing, but keep reading and everything makes sense. There’s a lot of intrigue through the scene cuts, often leaving out the big bulk of the info you wish you could get clearer hint about instead of waiting for it to unfold.
There’s a lot of minor details and hints sprinkled throughout each chapter. Something that may seem like a throwaway description can come back 20 or 50 chapters later as a major plot detail.
The needing improvement:
Sometimes the sentence flow is a little off. Not nearly often enough to be a big deal, just needs a little touch up. The dialogue tags aren’t “grammatically” correct, using periods instead of commas. But it’s consistently incorrect, so it doesn’t detract from the flow of the reading experience. - TheGreatGazpachoRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Review Swap at Chapter 9
As I'm unfamiliar with the genre, I wasn't sure what to expect from a Wuxia novel, but this story has been a wonderful read.
Style: Whenever the story jumped between different scenes, whether it be with the Chancellor, with Sun and Yuyu, or with Sun at the dumpling shop — it never felt like a sudden stop. The smoothness of the story helped the scenes flow together well. I like the stylized logo used for scene transitions; very elegant looking without being too distracting.
Grammar: I haven't seen any type of grammatical error to speak of.
Story/Character: I enjoy Sun, Yuyu, Lia, Liu, and Aunty Hong very much. Liu and Hong do tend to feel a smidge one-note, but their interactions with Sun and Yuyu help strengthen their characters. The found family aspect to Sun and Yuyu has been fun to read, and seeing how Lia folds into their dynamic has also been interesting. Though I haven't gotten to see much of the Chancellor, as a reader, I am curious to see what his connection and interactions with Sun will be like. I'm also curious to see what else Sun can do aside from moving so fast that he flickers between locations in New Hope City.
I don't have many concerns; in all honesty, this is very well written. Keep going; you have something great here. - Chill_NeedleRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Just finished binging to the latest chapter (14) and I need more now.
Style 5/5
Having read hundreds of thousands of words from progression wuxia novels, I’ve grown accustomed to straightforward stories that lays everything out from point A to point Z. Turn-my-brain-off kind of enjoyment. This novel does it slightly differently, in a good way. It goes from A to B, maybe skips C, moves onto D, and maybe calls back to C in a later chapter. But somehow it doesn’t feel like the timeline is choppy at all. Minor details hidden in seemingly unimportant moments/dialogue are somehow relevant in later more important moments for a rather satisfying payoff.
Story 4.5/5
4 stars for what is presently available. The story starts off slow. There doesn’t seem to be a plot for the first few chapters. Just day to day life and some heartwarming moments. But once the plot start to reveal itself, you quickly realize that the seemingly unimportant day to day life chapters become more and more relevant. The other 0.5 is based on the potential. I look forward to seeing how the plot unfolds and how it will affect MC.
Grammar 4.5/5
Not much to say. I’m not going to nitpick minor inconsistencies.
Character 5/5
Not everything is about the MC. Events unfold even without the MC and the world doesn’t stop just because the MC isn’t present. Im not used to this with the stuff I’ve read where the world revolves around MC and barely anything happens when MC is not around. I can’t believe that a wuxia novel managed to give me a favorite character who isn’t the MC (I won’t say who is because it might be a potential spoiler to reveal his identity). In short, don’t discount ANY characters! I had mostly ignored the “side” characters at the very start. These characters are now involved in what I think is the major storyline. If this pattern stays true in future chapters, I can’t wait to see the minor characters who haven’t yet made their way into the overall story become more integral to this world.
Side no - Eternal GazerRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0One of the best wuxias i have seen to this date in app.
Style Score
= The writer describes scenes in such a way that I can easily picture them in my mind and besides that they are also described quite beautifully.
Story Score
= Fantastic since the plot is not too fast nor too slow and the it is consistent while also being flexible besides that the major thing is that i like about the story is that the world does not resolve around the mc.
Grammar
= The grammar is okay though there some mistakes here and there so it will need further editing.
Character Score
= The characters are definitely the main selling point of the novel and each of them are interesting and well developed and you find yourself liking most of the characters. - Lorraine2Royal Road★★★★★ 5.0When this popped up in the similar books for another one I had just finished I told myself that 96 chapters were enough for me to enjoy a book I had never read before. I saw the hiatus tag and still committed to reading just to pass the time. I now regret that choice more than I could have possibly imagined.
I refuse to spoil too much but the prologue alone had me hooked, it read like an old man reminiscing about the darkest days of his life to teach a younger generation to avoid the circumstances that lead to so much loss and bloodshed. The characters all had such well written stories and interactions that the reader could easily connect to each one. And the plot/story was a fun and well balanced blend between slice of life and kick ass battle scenes.
I will honestly admit that I kept clicking the next chapter button far more than necessary, hoping that a new chapter would magically appear before accepting that it was done. So I may not know why the author stopped writing this story but if they ever decide to pick it back up two years later, I will absolutely continue reading because 96 chapters isn’t enough. - Att441Royal Road★★★★★ 4.5I write this as I have just finished binging all the available chapters, hungry for more.
This story starts with a long prologue which really kickstarts your understanding of this world. As the author has said themselve it's unusually long for a prologue, but it has a satisfying conclusion and ties well into the first chapter. As such I highly recommend reading it.
The chapters themselves are not that long, or at least don't feel that way to me, but progress the story in a nice, maybe slow for some, tempo. - CardinalRRoyal Road★★★★ 4.0After the set-up in the prologue, the first ten chapters were an introspective, slow-paced, low tension, low stakes, slice of daily life in a peaceful era. There were some small hints of conflicts to come, but not much in the way of action or adventure. I can only assume those elements will come into play later.
