- 3DDRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0This story is developing very nicely. Interesting characters with a blend of common mortals mixed in with monsters and magic.
Quite gritty and grim at times but the overall vibe is positive. Even though the MC is currently very weak and inexperienced, she is no helpless damsel - once she stops vomiting...
The author has left room for numerous possible storylines. This gives the reader a sense of anticipation on where the story may go. Interested to see how the story develops.
Not too many cliches, which can be hard to do, what with so many stories out there now. Everything is a cliche now!
Great grammar and punctuation - only a few errors but not numerous or bad enough to detract from enjoying the story. - Teasing MarmladeRoyal Road★★★★ 4.0the idea of the story so far is great the characters personalities they're they're getting somewhere and I enjoy them the details of what we've got of the surroundings are nice so far even though there's not many chapters that's all I got to think of so yeah it's a good book!~
- Banarok LionrageRoyal Road★★★★ 3.5There's a lot of dissonance in this work, the most obvious one is that show and tell fight eachother, we're told this is a harsh world with high stakes with rape, death and slavery.
Character however tend to act with about much care and afterthought as if the worst thing that could happen to them was that they got a bit dirty, aka they are about as serious as the cast of konosuba while the setting try to convince you it's grimgar.
Then come character maturity, I'm fine with the main characters rather fluid maturity, it make sense with how they got transfered, what doesn't make much sense is how chaste everyone is, they treat any minor bit of affection like it's a big deal, if one character did that it would be finebut them all doing that is weird, especially since seemingly sex slavery is somewhat common and this is a medieval fantasy world, most would have seen animals mate and killed animals for food yet they got the sensibilities and emotional maturity of a total shut-in, someone who've grown up with mercenaries would undoubtedly be a social savant as they've needed to deal with their band members every day, and social skill is something that improves with practice, they'd be unlikely to become a blushing mess, so character background don't reflect who they are either in a way that make sense.
It might get better later, with either the characters acting more like they belong in the setting or the setting adapting to fit the characters, but this is how far I came before I gave up. - HephaistosRoyal Road★★★★ 3.5This review was written after finishing chapter 19.
This novel definitely is not a magnum opus of some sort, but a nice read nonetheless. I'd recommend reading it if you have the time and want a good written novel. It is somewhat fun to read, but the use of "sis" and how cute something (most oftenly our protagonist) is can get annoying.
We follow Yumi, a, formally human, transformed, genderbendered and then to a fantasy world transported ero tentacle monster in human form. This may sound like a cheap Hentai plot, but I can assure you, the sexual content tag wasn't really used as of now. Aforementioned tentacles haven't found important usage as of yet, too. Back to the plot. Yumi gets help from her "sis" while being stranded in the slums, and in kind helps her "sis", too. And thus begins the adventure to save her sis's sis, escape from magic human experimentation, find out what she is and better their living conditions, all while living in a corrupt (maybe even Grimdark) fantasy world.
And therein lies a problem, at least in my eyes. The world is dark. They live in a slum, death, sickness and rape is a danger ever present. Surely this would create hardened individuals, survival as their foremost thought? But all character interactions feel... fluffy. Not in accordance with their surroundings. In one scene Yumi gets clothes from a seamstress which lives in the slums. Said seamstress tries to dress her as cutely as possible, and doesn't demand payment. We got told often how little money there is in the slums, and you have to fend for every copper. But now a seamstress just gifts clothes? While a few chapters back they had to strip corpses for them? And why would you want to look cute in a slum? To attract rapists? There are quite a few such situations.
But don't get it wrong, this story is quite the good one. I'd say it is in the upper 3/4 of RR novels. While the novel has anime vibes, they are not quite annoying. I'd compare it, while not being so extreme as these exa - GuthanRoyal Road★★★ 2.5MC is in a child's body but everyone is sexually attracted to her. The story reads like some kind of Japanese hentai at times. It's very creepy and comes across like the author doesn't care or realize the implications of adults being attracted to a person in a child's body. I don't care if she's mentally older, it's not a free pass.
