Description
Brandon was not prepared for his entry into System life…
Lost in a long-forgotten Intro Dungeon on the System planet Talan, Brandon finds himself teamed with an unstable AI with sociopathic tendencies. Barely surviving landing on top of the final boss in his bungled entrance into the dungeon, Brandon must rely on his devious trickery to survive since he is constantly outclassed...
...Because the original portal was meant for his girlfriend, Jamie! Caught in the portal herself, Jamie's experience couldn't be any different. For one, she has a full raid group and a stable AI.
Unaware of each other's plight, each must navigate their dungeons as best they can. One through strategy, the other through strength of arms.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
System Knights is an Isekai System LitRPG with 2 PoV characters. Brandon is the MC and he will have around 70% of the page time for the first 350 pages, but he and Jamie will share fairly equal page time from there on out. The two characters are on separate arcs for the entirety of the first book, so it is possible to only read one PoV character and understand the book. If you chose Jamie, it would be an awfully short experience, but you'd still figure things out.
---------------------------------------------------------------------
-Brandon will be alone, so he will need to be resourceful and more than a little bit devious.
-Jamie may be female, but she doesn't exist just to serve as a love interest for someone else. She will be her group's tank and their social glue.
-Brandon is written in 1st person! Jamie in 3rd person
-1st arc is complete!
-8 Chapters ahead on Patreon, as well as some extra chapters on occasion. 1 extra Jamie chapter up currently on the free tier and 4 extra Jamie chapters on paid Patreon. 1 Scarlett Chapter up on paid Patreon now!
-There's a world map on the free tier of Patreon.
I will be posting new chapters every Monday and Thursday.

Not much worldbuilding so far since they're trapped in the starter dungeon, but we already got some info without beign too much of an infodump, looking forward how the rest turns up!

The story flips between two MCs, Jaime and Brandon. A unique choice, but it is done well. It isn't something you normally see, but here the author manages to pull it off. I wouldn't let that aspect turn you away from the story, more like you get 2 for the price of one.
Story
The LitRPG structure emphasizes progression, with Brandon’s 8th-floor encounter showcasing high stakes via a System glitch, pitting him against four warlords. The setup diverges from typical alliance strategies, balancing action and exposition through Scarlett’s announcements.
Grammar
Grammar is solid and it is well written, I have no complaints. Most stories are well written nowadays with very few errors. I would say the use of a lot of bold text can be a bit much, but as a LITRPG it is acceptable.
Character
Brandon is resourceful yet reckless, using cunning to exploit vulnerabilities, as seen in his rapid warlord kills. Jamie’s role as a tank and leader is a good contrast. At least the MC's have been differentiated enough from each other. The supporting characters are decent as well, no issues there.
Overall
Deviant Knight offers a solid LitRPG with clear prose, dynamic plot twists, and engaging characters like Brandon and Scarlett. Luck-driven outcomes and minimalistic style may lessen immersion, but the dual-POV setup and humor make it a compelling genre read. - jonMorenoRamirezRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0The story overall is a good interesting take on LitRPG. Like most books of this genre, it takes some time getting used to the characters and rules of the playing field. You do get some good comedic relief as you’re getting through the world building, which for me is very important. I really like the AI in this role. I’m still working through the chapters, but it’s been very enjoyable thus far.
- katiopeiaRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Good start so far. I'm enjoying both characters. Jamie seems to be fully fleshed out and so far I enjoy her interactions with her team. I'm interested to see how things go with Brandon and his AI. It will be interesting to see how things go in the dungeon for Brandon and Jamie.
- fauxflamerRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0The story is fast-paced and funny, really enjoying it so far. I like the juxtaposition of Brandon's experiences (because haven't we all ended up drunk in a dungeon?) and Jamie's experiences (because haven't we all had a girlfriend doing it the right way?) in the adventure. I also enjoy the AI personality being more subtle than wacky for the sake of itself. Good read!
- DWWRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5This is worth a read to see where it ends up. Developing nicely, well written, no typos seen.
Enjoyed the AR meaning banter. And the swole Hobgoblin POV. 🤣
For what it's worth the alternative MC arc seems more interesting / better written - could be because the party acts as a foil for each other. 🤔 - NorthernReaderRoyal Road★★ 2.0The story itself is okay, not the best, not the worst. Some of the world building feels a bit off, the use of an advanced AI living in the MCs head is very used, to such a degree that it requires something extra to be interesting. In this story, it feels redundant. The male MC, who is the one with an AI in his head, could easily have his story be told, and give some more logical obstacles and character growth, without the AI element.
There isn't a central driving storyline, with the plot being a bit slice-of-life and simple progression. This works fairly well following the male MC, but with the female MCs POV it fails a bit. Still, the story could use more structure, less of "This happens. Then this happens." and more of "This happens, which leads to this. or "This happens to further this clear goal." There is some of that for the male MC, but for the female MC, it is sorely lacking.
Centrally though, the story would be good enough for me to keep reading it, if not for the problems with grammar. There is a lot of switches between past and present tense, as well as switches between first and third person, sometimes within the same sentence. This really hurts the readability of the story, and it often feels messy to read. Ultimately, the grammatical issues take me out of the story, and makes it more of a chore than a pleasure to read. I've followed it fairly long, since there are good elements to parts of the story, and to the characters, but the grammar just disturbes my reading process too much.
