- sigtyrGullmyntRoyal Roadâ â â â â 5.0Many people would be willing to pay for advanced chapters. The story is fun and the shenanigans are hilarious. Cliffhangers are mean and leave people with wanting more. Excited to see where this story goes and how the little science experiment cause the universe to descend into utterly hilarious chaos
- AppleFlowerRoyal Roadâ â â â â 5.0System breaker is everything wrong with isekai turned to 11, and it somehow makes it all work in a comedic package full of twists and shenanigans.
It starts out with your usual "God decided to reincarnate me", but in doing so it fused 2 people, fusing both their skills, memories, personality and knowledge into one - the first few sentences of the book and we are already up to a unique twist.
The trend with skill and ability is always aggressively up, but it is intertwined by both losses and wins, happy and sad moments, the comedy gives way to tragedy and they never feel out of place. I've both laughed out loud and read it in terror, so it manages to capture both ends equally well and it doesn't undermine them.
The only negative is that I don't have a time machine to read it all right now
TLDR;
System Breaker does everything wrong with isekai in a tasteful and fun, refreshing way, it's simple to read, the twists are fun and with every chapter, I want to read it more than I wanted before - CalcifinaRoyal Roadâ â â â â 5.0I'm going to be honest I didn't have hopes to start but this has so far been intelligent and a perfect level of snark and sincerely kind. I am only on chapter 12 but I have devoured this fic with laughs and smiles aplenty! I hope everyone enjoys it as much as I am,đ.
- Lich King RenjaRoyal Roadâ â â â â 5.0Enjoying the read so far, been reading on a non-profile unit and enjoying the read so far!
Decent pace and energy, while being relatively direct tone.
I do not quite like the paragraph style in early chapters, but the story is well written and interesting even with a small pet peeve. - PrinceofLightningRoyal Roadâ â â â â 5.0This is a really fun story, I love a female protagonist who sets themself against a world that hates them. You get your bad-assery, your cursing, your angst, and your true and deep friendship, all with some really excellent writing. I really enjoy the twists on what it means to have power over Light as well. New favorite story on here!!
- Aleah CatRoyal Roadâ â â â â 5.0This story has a lot of fun aspects. Between the magic, the system, the factions and the lore? It does a lot of interesting things really well.
The only hangup I have is on the punctuation. Commas are very often missing. The author loves using certain asides mid-sentence. The word âhoweverâ is often inserted into sentences, and it should have a comma before and after it, but never does. As an editor, it bugs me, but it doesnât ruin the story for me.
As with more than three quarters of authors on this platformâŠÂ separate your damn predicates!! This isnât hard⊠separate your predicates with âandâ or a comma or some other separating word. A lot of authors make this mistake, so again, this is an editor thing.
Talking about the story, I like the characters and the interesting diversity in powers. It isnât a harshly defined system of magic with specific elements or categories, which could be harder to write, but the author does a solid job of having people do some creative things with the broad magics involved.
I tie characters together with the grammar issues. Every character uses the same language. Every character inserts asides into their phrasing in the same way. This is a tough thing to nail down. I like making notes of verbal ticks of different characters when I write. Referring to those notes helps make sure different characters are firmly their own entity and never blend together. I only noticed this because every character made the same issues with commas in their dialogue, which highlighted that theyâre using a lot of the same verbal choices.
In the grand scheme of things, all my issues with the series come down to small things I only notice as an editor. None of this ruins the story in any way. Nothing is ever perfect, and if these are the improvements on the table, thatâs a good thing.
System Breaker is a fun read with lots of crazy magic shenanigans! Overall, the story is a refreshing read. Good for a break from darker psychological series out there. - StogdogRoyal Roadâ â â â â 4.5Fun concept where MC isnât necessarily the good guy but also isnât pure evil. Sheâs more of an Anti-hero that has a sense of right and wrong that doesnât necessarily match what society around her feels. So far itâs been fun to have a lot of character development with teasers of world lore. The societal interactions with MC and humanity are an interesting change from what Iâm used to and itâs laying the groundwork for what promises to be a wild ride.
I look forward to learning more about what the âHeroâ actually is not just what everyone THINKS it is. As well as the further development of what the âDemon Lordâ truly is. Characters are well written and while some naming is lazy itâs done in a self aware way that makes it funny.
I enjoy that the MC actually has mental health to take into account not just âIâm good, theyâre evil, I killâ but actual emotional responses to things and not being alright all the time. I look forward to how the story develops going into book two with the plot twist that came at the end of book one.
thanks for the fun read, looking forward to future chapters! - readingstuffwijw2Royal Roadâ â â â â 4.5The writing is very well polished and the pacing is good.
Storyline wise, the reader is about as clueless about the world as the main character is. Its used in an interesting way and brings a bit of immersion to it.
The "helper" character is a bit obnoxious. I understand that it is used for satire, but it comes off as really abrasive at times.
Overall, I feel like the story should be viewed as a parody of the genre instead of another numbers goes up story. Great read so far if you want a fresh perspective. - CosmorosRoyal Roadâ â â 3.0The story starts well with all the fights, monologues, and progression. The MC's power was interesting and acceptable, even though her light powers made no sense to me.
Also, I like the evolution and tier progression in novels, so it's always a plus in my books. However, the author has issues writing dialogues and interactions with ternary or secondary personages. They always feel so out of place that it breaks any immersion. For example, imagine going to a shop and talking to a clerk in the most robotic and robocall experience. This is how they feel here.
Another negative for me was the slowdown later in the story. The progression went from daily to taking multiple chapters for something to happen. I tried coming back and just read four chapters with absolutely nothing noteworthy happening.
Then, the author added "cultivation" to the novel, which was enough for me. LitRPGs are already relatively slow; adding cultivation makes it a permanent novel. Getting anywhere will take years of writing.
So, if you are OK with dialogues and cultivation, you are free to try the novel out. It isn't that bad, considering there isn't much to complain about anything else. - YokemRoyal Roadâ â â 2.5Writing style is practically none existent. It is hard to understand what is going on because of a lack of proper descriptions of almost every scene or conversation. Conversations between characters often just hang in the air, and leave it to the reader to figure out who just spoke what and to whom, aside from that they feel robotic and stiff.
Story is a weak ok, but nothing new, and far from a memorable execution. I have seen so many demon lords that are hardly demon lords that I am fed up with the very concept of a demon lord. Can't there be a demon lord that is actually fearsome for once? Why don't people write about angels or fairies if they want them to be cute little girls running around in a forest?
There was one core idea in this story that was kind of original and strong. It was the part where they began to fight against the system, making every being in the world try to kill them. I got excited about that, alas the author figured that the MC would likely got wiped out in two chapters and instead completely backed out of the entire idea, and made up some way to reconnect to an all-powerful system practically hacking into it so it won't think of her as an enemy. Doing that to a system that apparently controls existence on the second day after becoming the main enemy is quite ridiculous and shows the fact that there is little thought behind the entire execution of the story.
Grammar is a relatively strong point. As far as I am interested, it is the strongest part of the story.
Characters are once again quite pitiful, they are cliche anime type personalities, which means they are impossible to take seriously.
The first half of the story is made with considerably more thought and better execution, while the second half has started a deep dive in quality, unfortunately.
Then again, it's just my opinion, other readers might enjoy it.
