- FUnkyManShrekRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0This is a phenomenal book, its constantly changing, the characters are unique and engaging. The MC has depth and is fun to learn more about. Crazy friends and crazier events. Absolutely worth a read. The more I read the story the more i wish to read more. I'm just obsessed with the world building its unique. Just also well fleshed out.
- TheFirstZodiacRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0It's great so far. It's a fun read that helps me relax. The chapters are quite long and the characters are quite interesting. It's sort of reminds me of MHA but of course, with its own little twists and turns.
Really enjoyable so far.
Lets see how the story progresses in the future - BurningLavaRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0A fun and unique read where we find ourselves in a world of super heros and villains. I found myself waiting for the next chapter everyday before bed and almost always after reading the latest chapter with a smile or smirk on my face as I hit the hay. I find that the author has a unique writing style that should be given a chance and that if you were to give this a try please read at least to chapter 13 to decide if you like it or not.
- AwespecRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0A story with as much substance as it has comedy. Without getting too spoilery, expect a unique lens on tired tropes, a belly full of laughs, and a strong anticipation for more. Honestly, I'm going to keep this short and sweet so that I can go read some more~ babye for now!
- Lone_GlintRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0I don't often find stories like this.
Stories that draw me in by the end of the first chapter.
Stories that have me waiting with baited breath for the next part as I'm actively reading it.
Stories I now I'll love by the end of the second chapter
Stories that by the start of the third chapter I know will be an obsession.
This is one of those stories.
To the Writer I say well done.
And to perspective readers I level this challenge.
Read five chapters and see if you aren't hooked. - arkcosRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0I’ve really enjoyed the story so far, up to chapter 17. My only gripe is the constant need to spell out sound effects. ‘Heheheheh’ and ‘awwwwooo’ are just the tip of the iceberg. It’s a fun read, lots of humor and some touching moments, but would need a lot of polish if the author wanted to publish it as more than just a web serial.
- FrederikkmkRoyal Road★★★★ 4.0The story, characters and especially the world building are all great. But I really dislike the writing style. This is especially true for the prologue which almost made me decide not to give the story a chance. It is a chore to keep up with what's going on. After the prologue the style thankfully changes a lot, enough to let me enjoy the story. But I still often find myself cringing at the way some things are written or feeling annoyed that things are sometimes repeated three times, which simply feels like word padding.
Something I really like is the worldbuilding. It is funny and lighthearted with lots of pop culture references. I have personally noticed references/parodies of My Hero Academia, One Punch Man and I believe a certain side character is a reference to Jeff the Landshark from Marvel Comics. The protagonist goes to a hero school which is very clearly meant to be a reference to UA from my hero Academia and super powers are called Quirks like in My hero Academia.
Speaking of word padding, man it sucks that reviews must have at least 200 words. I need to pad this review with unnecessary words to get it to qualify.
Despite the writing style I still do recommend this story to fans of lighthearted superhero stories. - LOLsuitRoyal Road★★★ 3.0The MC really wants, nay needs, to become a super. Queue up a slot in the supers training university.
In the beginning this feels like a toon. A cartoon with wacky, physics defying, anime references. And, at times buckets of blood & hints of eldritch somethings. The frenetic, funny toon bits keep the blood & tragic bits from feeling too serious. If you can accept the silly, fast pace, and like the genre this fits into, then it seems worth a read.
The writing is fair, conveying the outlandish world and giving hints of a deeper mystery. You want the MC as an underdog to succeed.
Thinking about it a bit further, I realize the writing is usually cheerful, which I find appealing. But, unnecessary, prevalent profanity gets old, as does the style of repeating short phrases 3 times throughout. And a couple of arcs go on too long, dwelling on too much violence and torture, really bringing the mood down. - TechmanRoyal Road★★★ 3.0I really wanted to like this. It kept popping up in lists and says it's about support heroes, which I love.
But, man, it's a tough read. I only got through a few chapters, but they all had this manic, disjointed energy to them that was impossible to follow. The POV jumps around all over the place. Details about characters or worldbuilding are mentioned for the first time purely to provide after-the-fact context to a throwaway joke. Every other sentence ends in an exclamation mark! And sometimes multiple!? Crazy!!!
And of course, the bafflingly inserted interactions with girls that exist only as juvenile sex objects. For example, here is how our MC meets the first girl at superhero school:
That’s when he felt a squishy pressure, heard a soft moan, and soon the empty corridor rippled, revealing a collapsed person.
He froze. Had he just avoided an ambush?! But seriously, what was up with this school?!
There knelt a half-naked girl, ass up.
Overall, this reads like a horny 14-year old got hopped up on way too much Mountain Dew and is telling his friends about his totally awesome idea for an anime that's just like his favorite, but even crazier and with more boobies. If that sounds like a good time to you, then go for it. I'm out, though. - A Dire BadgerRoyal Road★★★ 2.5First off, the thing is nearly incomprehensible. Disjointed, disconnected activities, almost no protagonist explanation save for a poorly-framed origin story, no meaningful or artistic descriptions other than short, nearly meaningless comparisons, no insight into personalities, nothing but a gigantic stack of tropes toppling over each other randomly, like a screen capture of an untranslated manga arranged in the order of complexity rather than a story with an American kid looking at each frame and deciding what the Kanji means in English.
With a metric crapton of exclamation points EVERYWHERE.
I am not sure if it's just a bad translation from another language, or if someone really really loves manga, but a book it is not. It's more like a poorly-written comic book. I mean, I love superhero fiction, but despite its title, three chapters in I just gave up trying to understand it. I also rarely leave bad reviews, but this... This needs a complete rewrite from the very beginning.
It is a ton of work just to wade through. It is not a 'lighthearted read' unless you consider an L.A. traffic jam a fun Sunday drive, and it's frankly headache-inducing.
I am only giving it two stars because there aren't many active misspellings. However, the sentence structure, constant one-sentence paragraphs, and an overwhelming plethora of meaningless exclamation points are distracting.
